  1. yeah, air in the lines compresses, where fluid does not, causeing the spongy pedal. if there is water in the lines, it only gets worse, brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning, it absorbs water and gives a lower pedal(push farther for the brakes to engage). and once water is in the brake fluid it will start rusting the lines inside out. plus with abs, brake lines have pressure that exceeds cutting potential. if you dont properly disarm an abs unit, and you start taking lines off it, you may end up having a couple of fingers sliced off by the pressure. and just for clarification, it only uses such high pressures so the abs unit can pulse the brakes as it needs.

    Cliffs:

-Water and or air in the system is really bad.

-Look for an abs unit before you work on the brake lines, and check with a shop or a enthusiast forum for the disarming process.

  2. open the brake fluid reservoir, there should be a boot in the cap, if that boot is swollen or you cannot get the cap back onto the reservoir, then the rusted out part of the brake line let in water and contaminants and the whole system needs replaced. i mean every line, component, caliper, drums... everything. check and make sure you dont have to replace everything. the last thing you want is for the system to fail on her.
  3. since i live up in westerville, im not going to drive all the way down to jegs just to drive to hilliard. i would, but gas prices. i'll probably be over at the car show though. i think it will be fun to finally meet some of you guys...
  4. i'd go with some of the basics, probably a new k-member, most likely a custom one, diff suspension to handle the engine change. i have no idea what all you would have to put into it, but it seems like a big job. any big reasons why you want a 351?
  5. wow, i think some people are jealous of what they dont have. (ie: 9t1GVR4). I was up at sonic last night, i think i saw Linn and Sam. We were Parked enjoying our milkshakes out by that huge ass pile of mulch or dirt or whatever that was. and then at like 10:15 we were gonna come over meet up with whoever was there, and the kid named mack in my back seat said something about he had to be home (never bringin him to sonic again), i was pissed but i had to drive him to gahanna. I had Travis (1972monte) with me, and BTW if that was linn that pulled up and parked next to the black accord, you exhaust sounds sweet, plus that guy with the yellow c5 has a damn nice car.
  6. i have a post there as well... i just want to know if i have a loose wire or possibly a bad switch or what i should look for first....the traction control works fine and it shuts off when i press the button....i just want to LED to work

well judging by the fact that oem switches are quite expensive for their purpose, id say pull it out and open it up and check it for faults or order a new one at a local ford parts counter.

  7. .....maybe im not making myself very clear...let me retry

when i turn my car on, the traction control defaults to on

when i push the button it turns off, but the LED does not always light up saying Off

how would i go about fixing that?

yes im aware i can do some donuts to figure out if its working or not, but i dont want to have to burn off my tires everytime i wonder if its working or not

i guess on a long term basis, you should get out a multi-meter, and check your way thru the wiring for the system and pinpoint your problem. for a short term thing like the track, i guess disable it with your tuner, or find a fuse to pull like pdqgp suggested.

  8. im not sure if my TC is working properly....today for the first time since ive owned the car, i saw an LED for my TC button that said Off... so...if it doesnt say off is it on? the light stopped working again, no matter how much i push the button it doesnt light up...i just figured the bulb was burned out until i saw it today....any ideas how to fix this? and anyway to know for sure about the TC being on or off? goin to the track for the first time tomorrow, dont wanna look dumb and leave it on

i know hitting it once after the car is fired up turns it off....but ide like to fix the LED issue so i know for sure...i know its electrical, how would i go about fixing it

well to know for sure, you can attempt a peel out, or try to break your tires loose, and if it doesnt work out very well then its probably on. look in your owners manual, i believe that generically, it turns a light on for when it is off or being used in a panic situation.

heres a vid, not necessarily of your situation, but of what to expect with t/c on and off.

  9. how old is the clutch?

it sounds like the adjuster but it shouldn't be making noise all the time....

i am not sure, the guy i bought it off of said something about a new clutch, but i don't really recall whether he said there was a new clutch in it or if it needed a new clutch.

  10. For the past two months i have not been very gentle with my car, no dumping the clutch or any wreckless operations. Today i noticed while i was sitting at a stop sign, that when i push in my clutch it makes a snapping, or popping noise. this happens only every few times you push the clutch. the clutch still has full operation.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

Video(it sounds louder than it actually is on the video)

  11. Steven, why do you constantly talk shit to people who dont like civic's? You are right you had i nice looking one in HS. The red one that looks similar to the one in your sig, but if i remember right you were sponsored and you payed for none of those parts. So what if this kid doesnt want to mod his dx civic,he has a 5.0 that sounds better than pissed off bumble bees anyways.I will admit that i too drive a civic but i have no intention on modding it beyond the intake.

Remeber steven this is the internet it isnt as serious as it comes off to be.So go rinse the sand out of your vagina and just tell the kid he has a nice car and maybe you two can be friends

thanks, yeah i have nothing against civics or imports in general. i like being able to have a car that sips gas and something that more fun to drive on the side.
