Thanks guys I completely overlooked vans and suvs I really don't want a trailer parked at my house. The U-haul trailers do stink, and weigh a ton, but it's convenient. The car has a tubular front end, and the bumper has quick disconnects. Shouldn't be an issue getting it on and off.

Yeah I'm in Charlotte. Usually stuff is rust free, unless brought down from the north.

I once bought this because it was a good deal, and for the sole intention of towing. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1212/4798801/9950206/407394232.jpg I don't think I ever hauled over 6,000 lbs with it. This time around I'm going to purchase smarter. Race car only weighs 2,600 lbs and I will be using uhaul auto transports to haul with, as I don't want a trailer parked at my house. The only purpose of this vehicle will be to tow with, otherwise it will be parked. In the 5k or less wheelhouse, what's the most reliable horse for the job?

String her along? She knew from the start my stance on children and marriage. She started to charge her mind on wanting kids, and I saw the writing on the wall and ended it. The asshole move would be to string her along from that point forward. I let her stay in my place for months, till she found a place she could afford. I helped her move, furnished her place, and gave her money.

I go through 5-10+ vehicles a year, and could tell stories all day. Just this past month, I was selling one of my cars. Five people contacted me and asked all the right questions, and obviously knew what they were talking about. Every last one of them begged me to hold the car, till they could come out and pick it up. (Out of state buyers) Not one of them every came out. At this point, I don't even want to sell it. Dealing with one more person is the last thing I want. Some guy calls, says he will drive out and is serious. I told the guy, unless he is coming with cash in hand, forget about it and the car will rot at my house till it returns back to the earth. Says he has cash in hand, and can come tomorrow. So he drives 3+ hours to check it out. He asked maybe 3 questions about the car, and proceeded to chat my ear off for well over an hour about unrelated things. I couldn't get this guy to shut the hell up, and would ask if he wanted to drive the car. He finally did, said he wanted it but didn't have the cash with him. I'm furious, and told him to leave. The following day, he wouldn't stop texting me about wanting the car and asked for the vin, etc. I get a call later thatbday to confirm I own the car, price, etc. You have to be kidding me. The bank ended up CC me with his denial letter, the following day. Humans are the worst.. On a positive note, I sold off a Ducati this past weekend, and a guy drove 12+ hours to pick it up. Old guy in his 60s, easy transaction. That's always rare.

Just don't get married. Unless you're extremely religious, or need that piece of paper. There's absolutely zero difference between a serious committed relationship. I dated someone for 8 years, who knew I never wanted children or to get married. Around the 8 year mark, she realized I was never changing my mind, and not wanting children became a problem for her. I cut my losses, and walked right out of that relationship. No point to drag shit on, till it gets ugly. It's easy to see the writing on the wall, and for some people. They wait till the last possible second to make moves, at this point everyone hates each other, and things get nasty. I could only imagine being in that type of situation with children. That has to be extremely tough, miserable, and beyond stressful. Kudos to you guys/gals who stick it out for your kids. Although ultimately they probably are better off not being around two parents, who are constantly miserable and at each others throats. It seems so many people get married, and have kids, just because it's what their peers are doing and just go through the motions, and end up miserable in the end. Divorce rates are through the roof. I've been dating someone for four years, both successful, and have the same outlook on not having children, or getting married. So many of our married friends, are unhappy and stay in the situation for financials reasons, or various other selfish reasons. I cannot predict the future, nor can anyone here. Could never put myself into a situation, where if things go sour, you're on the hook for so much negative impact that will haunt you for years to come. Life's way too short for that nonsense.

It's the same here in certain areas of Charlotte. I moved off the lake, because pricing was so high. Hard not to take advantage of that. Bought another home, with the intentions of being in it under 5 years and have been looking for a good deal on empty land along the lake to build exactly what I want. I can't stomach something dropping 50-150k in value, or waiting a lifetime to recoup that. Some people just don't give a shit though...... to not be Jewish....
-
Oh it's coming... Unless you sold at a crazy deal, desperately need something, or don't care about money. Why are so many of you, purchasing at a market high?
-
Not getting married solves these issues. Good luck to the OP, as others have suggested. I would delete this thread.

It's a mirage, not a Bentley.

Just buy a new helmet? Why fuck around with something that could potentially save your life?
-
And it's best offer! 25k buys a slew of prepped race cars, but man would that thing be cool to own!
-
That's almost always the downside with picking oddball cars, without a ton of support. You're the r&d mule, and might not like the final outcome. Not a fan of miatas, but it's easy to understand why so many people use that platform. I haven't seen an mr2 in years though!

Ended up finding pretty much exactly what I wanted. The guy is dropping it off now. 95 cobra motor, so the accessories are pushed closer to the block. Came with all the accessories, and some underdrive pulleys. It has the factory distributor, which I can probably get to work with the carb setup. Springs, roller rockers, cam, valve job, and new headgaskets. New torker intake manifold, new Holley 600dp carb. Tons of NASCAR shops are here, and this guy works at a coating place. Springs and the cam have some weird polish. Interior and exterior of, the heads, intake manifold, and carb are high temp teflon coated. I would never pay for these services, but they were already done. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1589/13754861/24767986/413380217.jpg Made in brook park Ohio sticker on it. Had no idea these boat anchors were made in the Cleveland area.

Trucks are awesome if you're actually using them on a daily basis, otherwise they're just a pain in the ass to deal with. I've owned trucks myself, and sold them when I wasn't using them as designed anymore. This thread was started as trying to find a "fun car", for a small budget. Then the budget became much larger, now he wants to sell everything and only have a truck? :lolguy:
-
Bingo. Fuck trucks. Unless you actually need it, driving around a truck daily without actually hauling stuff is for mouth breathers. As is modding a truck to go faster.

What's the current car, and what's considered "fast"? It's going to be hard to beat a vette..... This already has a built motor, they might come down a few bucks. Find a used blower kit.. http://www.wirewheel.com/2005-Lotus-Elise-SCCA-T3-Race-Car-for-sale.html Cheap to keep these going, unless you crash
-
Thanks Aside from a cam, I have zero plans to do anything to the internals. This is just a budget setup, to work out all the suspension kinks. Pointless to toss on 1k heads on a motor I would be happy with if it made 250hp...Also, the Mountaineer motor comes fully dressed. Everything in the front is shorter than the Mustang stuff, which helps in any clearance issues... The car has a tubular front end, so it probably wouldn't matter. Better safe than sorry. My office is in the middle of a bunch of NASCAR shops, should be able to score a nice built motor if I can get this car handling in a way I'm comfortable with at speed.
-
A turbo setup is the last thing I want to deal with. The car currently is setup to run a different turbo motor. I live in NC, and have zero desire dealing with nonstop cooling issues
-
I attempted to read through Mustang forums, but every other thread had different information. Figured someone here will easily know these basic questions. Dropping a 5.0 302 boat anchor into a car, I plan to road race this summer. I know, plenty of other better options but someone makes a full mount kit which makes the whole process much easier for me. The engine itself I plan to just toss a cam in it, along with headers. Nothing crazy, and will look into a built motor over the winter. For the ease of wiring, I'm going to just use a carb. Locally I found a 5.0 out of a 1998 Mountaineer. It appears that year uses a gt40 head, where you need special headers so you can easily get the spark plugs out. Obviously I will need an intake manifold and carb. What's a solid intake manifold, carb, and cam to use with this setup? Also, which distributor will be needed? The car currently has an in-tank Walbro 255 that was used in a EFI setup. Will a simple Holley blue pump work? Is there a budget road race style oil pan, that isn't the Moroso or Canton? Those are the same price as the whole engine... :lolguy:

Look into dealers, if you're planning on getting a new bike. My local Ducati dealer has a course on site, and offers free training if you purchase a bike.

Lightstream. They will loan on any vehicle, year doesn't matter. They also don't put on a lein on the vehicle. Super easy, all done online. Great option if you're looking to pay something off quickly. You need a rock solid score, and highish income though. Considering you're looking at 996, that might not be the best option. I'm sure you can find a local credit union though, or pennfed. 996 TT?
