  1. Before buying anything "fun" in your situation, do yourself a huge favor and sit there and think, "if something major on this car breaks, can i really afford to fix it?"

     

    Like others have said, used turbo cars are just a bad idea, especially something like a neon. Sure it might say unmolested or the such, but if its gonna be my main daily, thats not something i would trust.

  2. That's right, there is a huge population to draw from. Got to any central Ohio based automotive event and mention CR. almost everyone's heard of it. Few have anything nice to say IRL. for some reason this place has pretty high exposure but low reputation. wanna change the rep? change what goes on.

     

    Alot of that came from the initial member rep in. Were some maybe a little to harsh? Sure, but i dont feel sorry for people who refuse to take time to read a sticky they were directed to upon signing up that told them exactly how to make it on.

    No. It is not an all or nothing proposition. You can tone it down a little and still have most of what makes conversation here fun.

     

    speculation, but again not an all or nothing proposition. Also this smacks of the inmates running the prison. of course they are going to complain the bars are too confining and the beds are too hard, they don't have the control.

     

    That's the job of the mods and site admin. You set some simple and clear standards and you trust your mods judgement to enforce the spirit of the rules. This isn't rocket surgery, plenty of boards do it today. once you start to do it the masses will police themselves. Right now you have a bunch of "sheriffs" going around unchecked without mod power who respond to minor scrapes with more offensive behavior.

     

     

     

    Whatever my feelings on the kitchen, this has more than once spilled out into other sections. And to be honest from my personal observation most that visit the board don't really visit the sections, they click new posts and just read what ever title catches their eye. I know I do and so do a few others I have seen, often I am checking afterwards what section the post actually was in. Take the kitchen out of that loop and you cut down on the accidental tourists.

     

    I was going to take time and make long response, but decided to keep it simple.

     

    This board has been around many years before you were a member and has seen much worse than what goes on these days. While yes, some may get a bit out of hand, again, its nothing like it used to be, and little occurances like that can be dealt with as they come. Talking about treating this place like prison is going to do nothing more than run more people off. Most of us have been here long enough and are old enough to know whats acceptable and whats not and dont need some one cracking down on us.

     

    Also since when is someone actually being told they are over moderating, speculation?

  4. Well my goal of sparking up some conversation was a success, and I think CR is alive and well with great core members. I really like most of what I'm reading in here, just about everybody is happy to have this place to just talk about whatever.

     

    I think Anthony has done a great job with this site, keeping the core community from being influenced by any outside agendas. The points made of Facebook slowing it down are true, but I don't think it will be able to kill CR. I feel better about the future of my favorite forum having made this thread and reading the responses. Not everyone is going to be happy, but it seems most members are.

    On another note, we need to have more sonic meets soon. I need some more of those hot wings in my life lol

  5. unlike the other 2 so far, i like just going in a strait line lol.

     

    bought my firebird 10 years ago with no intentions of racing it, got a call from a family friend who raced at trails and wanted to see what my car would run. after that i was addicted. first it started with bolt ons and gear, then pulled the heads and had them cleaned with addition of the cam and torque converter. next thing i knew i was bracket racing weekly and running mid 13's with a v6 f body.

    knowing that that car wouldnt be any fun on the street once i finally got the 383 swapped in, i picked up my GTO. since the firebrid is down this year while i work on the swap, ive been playing with the gto at the track and managed to get the pig down to a 13.4 in stock trim on drag radials. i do plan on eventually autox' ing the car at some point. ive also started picking a few goodies for the goat as well lol

  6. Crap not what i wanted to hear lol. Not that its my full time "racecar" or anything, but sounds like bracket racing wouldnt be so good with sd. Guess ill try to make this fit lol.

  7. For the guys that have experience with both, after a good tune, is there really much difference?. I ask because i picked up a vararam intake for the gto, but they are meant for the ls2 cars and i guess due to throttle body and maf length, its much harder to get these on an ls1 car. Im not even sure just going to an ls2 maf will work either, so i also picked up a cam and will be getting long tubes shortly, so im thinking just wait, do it all at once and just get rid of the maf so the intake will work.

     

    Opinions?

  8. I agree with sending out emails recently active members to get them going again. Aa for new blood, even though i know alot dont like it, i still think there needs to be a screening process (if you dont agree, go join up on some of the facebook groups and youll see why i do).

     

    I think more cr meets/get togethers could help as well. If they become more regular, members will bring friends, then they will bring more and so on.

  9. The 1le is going to be a beast and ford has its work cut out. The base ss now pulls a .97 g and pp mustang gt is at a .95 if i remember right.

     

    As for motors, the "what if" argument could go on forever. Hell right after the lt1 came out, they already had a cam/ bolt on car that made 502 at the wheels

  10. I recently picked up a blue tooth obd 2 adapter and downloaded the torque pro app and was just using it to watch the trans temp in the bonneville (just installed a trans cooler). I also have commanded a/f ratio and kr gauges setup and was watching them as well. I first noticed the under load the a/f was as 14.7, but would bounce around at idle. Saw anywhere from 13.5 to 16.0. Also noticed it pulling upwards up 5 degrees of timing under load.

     

    The car is bone stock and well taken care of. Even just did a tune up (new plugs/wires, oil, air filter). Is there something physical i should be looking for issue wise, or could something just be off in the tuning?

    - There were two different tuners who both worked at IPS and the left to go to CTD?

    - Both of these tuners were named Eric

    - And that Eric Scambo has tuned most of the fast LSx car in the city.

    Ive heard nothing but good about eric s. Had a conversation with his wife a while back to and she is very nice as well. She also drives a badass twin turbo camaro lol
