One thing I can't get used to is how many times I have to turn the steering wheel to turn. Ha.

So I picked up my new ride about a month ago. It's a 2015 Dodge Durango SXT Plus with AWD. It has heated seats and steering wheel. It has 45k miles on it (at the time of pick-up). Has a 7 year/100,000 mile certified warranty. It has the 3.6 Pentastar and 8A, a great great combination!

Had someone almost kill me this morning because they did not understand what a "TURN ONLY LANE" is on Cleveland Ave. I was in the turn lane going onto a one lane street and the woman in the SUV next to me decided "FUCK EVERYONE ELSE, IMMA TURNING MY CAR!!!" with no blinker in the straight only lane. Fuck Ohio drivers! The Northland area is the worst, I swear it!

I was on Cleveland trying to get to Morse and it was a fucking gridlock for no fucking reason.

I did not have any traction or control issues driving at 6:30 in the morning. Took me two fucking hours to get to OSD

As a high school teacher, I think what needs to be done is to provide more mental health care counselors at every school in a ratio where one can adequately care for a xx number of students instead of 1 to 500. That alone is our first defense as they can identify and take action if a student is showing homicidal tendencies. Second step is to have a cop, not a rentacop but an actual cop at the school actively patrolling in the school. Third, eliminate the standards and testing placed on students and teachers. We already have a tough time doing all of the required things and leave us with a speck of time to actually teach and form a rapport with our students.

I guarantee that if these things are done, shootings will be a thing of the past

Actually, yes. Plus you sit on the car rather IN the car. I didn't like that. When the seat is adjusted for me, I couldn't sit behind myself in the back. In my Saab, I could CROSS my legs sitting behind myself.

So now I'm just clueless, I do want the next car to be practical. I often hauled 8-10 feet long lumber in the Saab and the trunk still closed. I've hauled 10 bags of mulch in the trunk and it still closed.

I suppose the next thing is to see what visually interests me because if I don't like the looks, I'm not interested.

EDIT: I'm kinda interested in the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, a dealer has a new one for 26k and it does look pretty cool. The Subaru Outback does look sharp but I don't know if it'll be absolutely anemic.

My budget is definitely a solid 23-24k.

I did locate a low low mileage 2015 300S RWD locally but no CPO or moonroof 14k miles for 20k

Don't worry too much, they're are a TON of 2015 lease returns coming in (from all companies) and it won't be too hard to find another. Plus used car prices and sedans especially are at a low right now.

2015 Chrysler 300 S AWD is a very nice and very clean 1 owner All Wheel Drive car! The previous owner was a non-smoker who clearly took excellent care of this car. Steering this back on track...I did suspect something about that Buick.

I've located a 300S AWD locally and I will probably take a look at it to get a feel of it. Some people have suggested a Subaru but with my price range and desired mileage (20-30k miles), the higher powered versions (the Outback) is out plus, I just don't want to own a Subaru.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I'm planning on getting a camper and go camping. That's one of the reasons why it made the list.

I would still try to autocross them though.

I'm at a conflict because I now have the chance to get something I've wanted, a nice SUV but I am also conflicted because I know I need to be slightly sensible and financial wise since my commute is so long and frequent that driving a SUV isn't the wisest.

I really like the Volvos and the Buick Lacrosse but I don't want to get a base model with minimal options that's right at the limit of my budget. I want gadgets.

What about a 12+ Wrangler with the Pentastar? Summer fun, winter capable, same drivetrain as your short list, and arguably the best resale value. You may be able to get some deals on leftover 17s also with the new redesign hitting lots now.

I don't know if that would be tolerable for my 600 mile a week/30-35,000 mile a year commute...

So far, I can confirm that:

I do not like the Hondas, they're nice yes but I do not want to drive one.

The Passat doesn't stir something for me.

The GTI, while an undeniable barnstormer, is too small and not capable enough for my needs.

The Flex Ecoboost is off the list.

The Kia/Hyundai twins do not interest me visually.

So far what is really stirring something into me based on initial appearances and features are:

I think it will be. The left taillight, if you can find a replacement, is about 900-1,200. The headlights are about 400 each used. Front bumper is a grand or so. Back bumper is a grand. Then the core support is destroyed. So figure about 2000 there. The hood is about 800 The airbag deployed and the seatbelt tensioner is about probably 1200 (based on searches) then the paint and body work probably another 2-3 grand.

So my rough unscientific estimates using the low end is 9,700. My car is worth 5 grand according to kbb

Buying a car based on the looks of it's wheels has got to be one of the dumbest reasons I have ever heard of.
