No way is that too many. Only 3k miles a year? The low mileage bikes scare me more than the high mileage ones. Low miles generally means it was sitting for at least one long stretch, maybe more. But as said above, everything depends on how well it was maintained.

We took a look at it. The one in your showroom is the short wheelbase and isn't optioned-out, but I agree, still pretty impressive. Paint was impressive, too. A lot of car for the price.

Chad and I went to the "Gallardo Experience" this morning at MAG. There were some very fine Lambos there, but the featured car was the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. While he didn't do cartwheels à la Texas Mile, Chad managed to get sideways pretty nicely on the Route 33 ramp and also took honors for the highest top speed of the day. Anyone willing to get someone else's AWD quarter million dollar car sliding sideways (with the factory driver in the passenger seat) during a test drive gets my respect! If that's not CR style, I don't know what is. Wow! I'm really surprised at what I'm reading here. I would have thought that Kasich's Lehman Brothers connection would be bothering people more. I don't know if you all remember the early days of the current recession in the Fall of 2008, but Lehman Brothers, who had gambled their investors' money by promoting and investing in sub-prime mortages (for people who couldn't possibly afford them), went bust to the tune of 613 billion dollars. Millions of people lost their homes. Pensioners lost their life savings. Interest rates jumped. Credit dried up. All of our pocketbooks took a big bite. As you recall, as we were reeling from all this, it came out that Lehman Brothers was dishing out big bonuses to its execs during all this time, right up to their bankruptcy. We were out for blood then. We wanted to tar and feather those execs. They robbed the taxpayer! They robbed our economy! They robbed our grandparents of their life savings! So what did you ever do about those execs? Well, I guess you want to elect one as your next governor. I'm sure you've heard tell that John Kasich was a managing director of Lehman, a job he took right after leaving Congress. Some people believe he got the job as payback for throwing his support to Bush. Hard to know. But what we do know is that in 2008, the year of the economic collapse and the Lehman Brothers bankrupcy, John Kasich's tax return shows that he made 1.4 million dollars, $590,000 from Lehman, $432,000 of which was his bonus. That fact alone prevents me from voting for him, Republican though I am.

The seats in the '81 Benz are in good shape, but they've lost some of their color in the bolsters and at the edge of the bottom cushions. I've cleaned the seats thoroughly and applied leather conditioner, but of course the color didn't magically "reappear." I picked up the correct MB dye color, thinking I could do this myself. After reading a number of sources online, I've come to the conclusion that to do this job right, the old dye needs to be removed from the whole seat and new dye applied. I don't currently have the time or the skill to do this myself. Does anyone know of someone local who does this sort of work routinely and for a reasonable price? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

You've prolly already considered this, but you're taking a car which "pretty much sat" for 2 years and putting it to the acid test with a freeway drive 2000+ miles. On the positive side, it will be a good test for the car and will help you identify any problem areas. On the other hand, is a breakdown in BFE something you have the time/money to absorb easily? The car should be fairly reliable considering its age and the fact that your friend vouches for it. My .02

As I mentioned above, this is more fun if we get parked together, and the only way I know to do that is to go through the gate (Gate 13, off Riverside Dr.) together. Different spots list different times for registration and for the show, but I purpose we do this: Meet at the Starbucks at 9700 Sawmill Parkway, Powell, Ohio, at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The Starbucks is on the southwest corner of the intersection of West Powell Road (SR 750) and Sawmill Parkway. This is about a mile or so east of the main gates of the Zoo. Roll out together from Starburcks at 8:45 a.m. Note that you don't enter through the main admission gates. I have been unable to pre-register today on the website, but I'm going to keep trying. Pre-registration costs $15. Registration is $20 at the gate. Your registration also admits up to 4 people in your car to the Zoo at no extra charge. It looks like it'll be beautiful weather. I'd encourage you to bring the family to the Zoo even if your car is no show car ..... you'll have a hard time having this much entertainment (Zoo attractions plus car show) so cheaply.
