Fantastic job, Tim. I've known the owner of the car (Jim) and his wife for over 45 years. They are both from car fanatic families. His pop had ten suicide door Lincoln convertibles (at once). Her Dad still owns and drives a Pagoda Mercedes. Yet Jim puts no effort into cars, just drives and puts gas in them, whereas she's a fanatic about oil changes and all proper maintenance. I agree, Clay would make a good next owner, as the car has had every factory recommended service item done and done right from new.

Thanks for all your hard work, Clay. This event had a much longer run than is typical for central Ohio events of its type, no doubt due to the hard work and leadership that you and a few others provided.

Ben, It's been a few years since I've been to Mad Hatter, but here are some tips from when I was last there: Prepare to be in a less than pristine section of town. They were first-come, first-served when I was last there. I got there 30 minutes before opening time so that I could be first on the rack. It doesn't hurt to bring a box of doughnuts to share with the staff. (I'm serious) One time they did 20 minutes worth of work for me on the Viewt and they wouldn't let me pay for it. Another time they diagnosed a rattle, installed some hangers and a strap, and charged me $5. When they replaced pipes and a muffler they charged 1/3 what it was worth.

Fantastic job. When it's done right, nothing beats black. -
Here's a thread with some ideas for you, and it references another thread with a lot of info: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108919&highlight=eagle

So sorry to hear, Nick. Until you have time to post, here's a thread with lots of pix: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130493

The film was from the late 1960's, not from 2001. The things you refer to were fantasies in the 60's, not fantasies from 2001. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of good stories from CR folks in the comments here (Blizzard of 1978 thread): http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77147&highlight=blizzard

I see what you did there. Of course, I didn't build any of it. Accelerated Performance in Toledo did all the work except for the wheels and tires. I relied on the Wheel Medic crew and on Andy Farkas to pick out the right wheel and tire combinations. The only thing I can take credit for is the re-badging, and even that was nearly above my skill level.

On low boost I'm putting out 330+ whp and have 20k on the original internals over the last 8 years with no major issues or failures. The LS3 swap seems like a lot of work and expense for the additional horsepower, although it's a big improvement on the torque.

Likewise, in some South American countries, the US $2 bill is the favorite and commands a premium. In some places in Central America, they go for 2-3 times face value. Anyone traveling to Ecuador soon interested in a little business proposition? https://www.thebillfold.com/2015/04/the-curious-case-of-2-bills-in-ecuador/

Uncirculated, consecutively numbered $2 bills, most are 2003 series, in the cellophane-wrapped bricks from the Federal Reserve. I'm willing to break down the bricks as small as a band of one hundred notes ($200 face value). Each banded stack I'll sell on CR for $250. You'll see them priced all over the place on eBay, but none this low. I'll sell a whole brick for $2300.

I know a number of CR folks enjoy speculating on precious metals, bitcoin, and the like. It's risky, but I've had fun and done well over the years, but am liquidating some excess right now. Wednesday I intend to sell 1oz. American Silver Eagle Coins to a dealer. All the coins are uncirculated, in their original U.S. Treasury tubes (20 coins per tube), and I will not split tubes to sell individual coins. The dealer is paying $540 per tube, which is considerably less than they sell for. If anyone on CR wants to pay $530 per tube, let me know and I will set them aside for you on the provision we complete the deal by the weekend. Here is the extra I have to sell: 1 tube of 2014 5 tubes of 2015 2 tubes of 2018 1 tube of 2020 Typical asking price for these coins today is $29-$30 per coin or $600/tube. This is a good way to kickstart precious metal investing, as the American Eagle Silver Dollar is commonly traded and consistently valued over the spot silver price. PM me with questions.

Thanks for the input. I had assumed that since the car's in such good repair, a replacement part must be difficult to find or else the current owner would have already replaced it.... bad assumption. I hadn't done a part search yet, thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction. Thanks for the detailed info, Kerry. There's so much there that's new to me. Yes, the 75 series is awkward in a number of its design elements and proportions, but I've always been drawn to the Caddy factory limos (vs. coachbuilt versions), and the 1964 is my favorite. This one is the 75 Sedan vs the 75 limo, which is pretty rare and allows driver's seat adjustment. The divider glass on the limo fixes the driver seat, which wouldn't work for me.

I'm looking at a car that is missing one of the headlight surround pieces. The remaining piece could serve as a template. It is a chromed metal, but plastic would pass for the real part. I'm guessing the dimensions would be something like 12" x 5" with a maximum depth of 3". Can such a piece be 3D printed? Does anyone locally do such work? What does a piece such as that cost? I'm assuming that finding an original part on the junk auto parts market that's in good condition would be nearly impossible, thus I'm asking the question about 3D. Driver's side surround is missing:

I was surprised that this news wasn't already posted here, or on the CCC Facebook page: https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/amc-permanently-closes-lennox-town-center-24-location I know it has taken some hard work and diplomacy from Clay to maintain a stable venue for this big weekly event. I wonder if having a new tenant for the location (or perhaps having no tenant for the location) will jeopordize this great event. Thoughts? Clay, any word?

WWCRD; off-road and towing light vehicle?
Doc1647545523 replied to Trouble Maker's topic in Dumpster
Jesse, Two quick comments: the Renegade won't be good at towing the loads you've listed, but it ticks the other boxes. The back seat folds down (nearly, but not completely, flat) and you can sleep two in the back. If you want serious off-roading, you need to go with the Trailhawk, which gives you extra ground clearance, and is just a better all-around model of Renegade. I was really impressed with the vehicle, although I think you'd have to be an idiot to take one to the Arctic. Jordan at JET Auto Group got me a terrific deal on a used, current year model. At the end of my year of use, it had very little depreciation and sold quickly. Two, a new Gladiator does everything you want, plus you can have a convertible when you feel like it. Lease a new one at a surprisingly low monthly payment. With low money down, 15k miles/year, very well equipped, mine is just over $300/month for 36 months. I hear what Sean is saying about Jeeps, but the last two I've had have changed my mind about their quality and value. -
Although I've got the GTc and not the Black Edition, I can tell you that it's respectable in the twisties. With the RennTech ECU upgrade the horsepower is pretty close to the Black Edition, although the Black Edition has some aero and suspension enhancements mine doesn't have. I never got around to making threads of my last 3 Rally North America adventures, but here's the GTc getting ready to lead off some hot laps at Road Atlanta last fall: As a driver with limited track time, I wasn't comfortable doing hot laps with the group of drivers we had, so my buddy Steve Ulfelder, co-founder of Flat Out Motorsports, piloted the Benz for the laps, and he had nothing but praise for it. I took that as a pretty good recommendation, coming from someone with the racing experience Steve has. All around it's a great driver, although the maintenance costs and tire life put it uncomfortably up in the Supercar range. Alignments are a particular nightmare with the four wheel steering setup.

Great job. It showcases your talent as a detailer and Nick's care in ownership. Something you both can be proud of.

It all depends on how you define a social distance, I guess ..... It was good to back to an almost normal car event. The youngsters were all very friendly and I was surprised at how much enthusiasm the Viewt generated. IFO did a video interview with me about the car. If they put it up on their site, I'll post a link here. Congrats, JP. There were some really good times and I'm glad yours was one of them.
