  1. They have to replace every part in the car the diesel flows through if the failure occurs. I THINK metal gets into the system during the failure
  2. Yeah, that's why I'm hesitant. It appears that it only affects only about 2-5% of the newer tdis.
  3. It's a 2012 with 104k. One owner in Bellefontaine. Looks like he drove to and from Columbus for work. No service records available, yet
  4. Looking a VW TDI for a DD. There are some pretty costly repairs IF things go wrong with the car i.e. high pressure fuel pump and the diesel particulate filter. Most cars aren't affected but it still worries me. I asked the dealer if they offered any vehicle warranties. They said they use a company called AUL, top of the line warranty is $2400 and basic is $1800, both for 3year/36k miles. AUL has some pretty shitty online reviews, but I wouldn't expect people go out of their way to post good reviews. I've heard good experiences for warranties for used car purchased through somewhere like Carmax. yay or nay?
  5. Just watched this. Movie felt hurried and too much cgi. Cooper was good though
  6. I've had great luck with IPS. Very good prices.
  7. I'd vote just get a good tune and save the extra money for a nice set of winter tires/wheels
  8. There is a good TRUCKS! episode with a LS swap on a C10. Looked super simple with space and tools (two things I don't have.) the biggest thing was installing a new gas tank and pump, which involved some fabrication to the bed. Engine and transmission bolted right in. Exhaust manifolds didn't fit without some frame modification, but some more research I found that newer Camaro SS manifolds fit without modification. There is a company that will reset/rewire the PCM for under $500ish
  9. Well the small block perches will accept the LS engines too. That might be the way to go.
  10. I actually just ordered small block engine mount pedestals today. Oh yeah, my dad used it to collect debris. Judging by your concern, I'm guessing that wasn't a good idea.
  11. So, I have 3 choices 1. Rebuild the 396 2. Buy a crate motor 3. Newer LSx swap More pics
  12. Yeah, that's an option I thought about. Might be cheaper in the long run
  13. he's one of those 1950s/60s kids who think they can fix anything. He thought there was an intake manifold seal leak. He bought all new parts and threw away others for no good reason, like the radiator fan.
  14. Allegedly, it has the original 396 in it.
  15. I have my Dad's 1968 C10 Pick-up at my house (doesn't run). It ran really rough when he bought it a couple years ago and started tearing the engine apart. Needless to say, he never put it back together. I sent to a guy in the Xenia area last summer to fix. Excuse after excuse, he never ended up doing anything to it. He said he completed a leakdown test and it showed 2 cylinders leaking 90% (I don't believe him) I'd like to find someone to come out to my place and button it up, clean out the valley, re-install the manifold/carburetor/filter, install distributor, radiator fan, drain fuel tank, and trouble shoot if any other problems arise. I don't have the time and know-how to do it properly. I'd rather not tow again, I have $300 in towing already. Located in Grandview Heights. Edit: corrected year
  16. v6's are terrible amirite? /s http://www.gtrheritage.com/uploads/monthly_06_2013/post-35-0-09669600-1370834912.jpg

Heard a story of a prostitute in Springfield with 4 broken-off needles in her neck.
  18. Amazingly... when the auditor revalued the houses in Franklin Co. a few years ago, they valued it at the exact price I paid for it. My house was one of the 9% of houses in Franklin County that actually increased in value.
  19. Copy Just looked at Realtor.com. The cheapest single family home in the Grandview Heights School district (apparently pretty good??) is listed at $449k
  20. Reading the other thread, I was curious about the value of my home. Back story, bought it in 2008 for $174k. 3 bed 1 bath, about 1100sq/ft. Only made improvements since. New siding, new heat pump and a/c, finished upstairs room, new carpet throughout, landscaping, new patio, and parking pad off alley. Zillow is showing my at $169k today: House on a street over 3b/1b, 1054sq/ft sold for $222k in Oct. 2014: Another on a street over 3b/1b, 1054sq sold for $222k in Apr 2014 Down the street, same size sold for $190k in May 2014 WTF happened to my value?
