lettuce talk burdens: Defense budget...... Go! (i am in the military, i see all the wasteful shit we spend money on.) For example, just after Sept. 11, my national guard unit was activated. in the military's infinite wisdom they decided to send us to Maxwell AFB to supplement their security. This cost the tax payers over $300,000 in EXTRA expenses to send a 13 person team for 1 year (on top of our pay). they also sent a unit from out of state the supplement Wright-Patt's security, costing another $300,000 +/-. Wright-Patt is 15 minutes away from our base and would have not cost them anything extra to send us there. another example, I went to iraq last year. The military purchased us all brand new UNNECESSARY equipment to go on the deployment. my guess is the extra cost $3,000 per person. times that by a 40 person team, $120,000. i used none of the equipment. it is sitting unused in my spare bedroom. there was no effort to reclaim the equipment from me. this equipment is issued to every deployed person in my career field.

no biggie, i asked for opinions. i've been looking. probably leaning toward a front brake conversion with a spindle drop and drop the back end. clean up the rust spots. refresh the motor. i want new wheels, though.

Mods, move this if in the wrong area. This is my Dad's truck. It was running rough so he ripped the intake manifold off last night. Once he gets it running smooth again, he is going to sell it to me. A little about the truck. It's a California truck. Sold to a guy in Michigan. Guy in Michigan sold it to my Dad. My dad let it sit outside over the past year. it's getting a little surface rust, but the under side is solid. It has the original 396 in it. 68,000 miles and probably needs an overhaul. Not sure about the transmission, or the brakes or anything. I haven't really looked the truck over that well. What would you guys do with it? My initial though is dropping a newer 5.3 Vortec engine/trans in it, airbags, power steering, and new wheels.
