Two people died in a three-car crash about 7 last night on Morse Road east of I-270.
Investigators said a Ford Thunderbird struck a BMW and another car west of Cherry Bottom Road, according to WBNS-TV (Channel 10).
The drivers of the Thunderbird and the BMW were killed in the crash, Channel 10 is reporting.
Three others were injured, police said last night. The victims' names have not been released.
The crash was so bad that Jaws of Life emergency equipment had to be used to remove two people from crumpled cars, Battalion Chief Doug Smith said this afternoon.
"It took 15 minutes to extricate one of the victims," he said.
That stretch of Morse Road -- near the entrance to Limited Brands headquarters on the Northeast Side -- has been the site of bad crashes, Smith said.
"It's pretty wide there with four lanes, (and) cars travel at a pretty high rate of speed," he said.
