  1. Too my knowledge they didn't update any of the parts in later models. Im surmising the 12's and 13's are poking their heads just due to age and mileage. If I owned one I would change the oil more often than the recommended interval. Whether that does any good or not Im not certain, but it definitely wouldn't hurt trying to keep the chains and guides happier with fresh oil.
  2. '12-'13 are becoming notorious for timing chain failures. I think most of them have extended coverage but you'd have to verify. If you get me the vin I can check for you. I specifically bought my wife an '11 with the more reliable N52 6 cylinder. There are a few early '12 models that have this engine as well. Similar power (not as torquey) and maybe slightly less mpg's but way more reliable long term. The 11 is gonna be the same as a 12 or 13 aside from that. It still gets the ZF 8 speed and everything else pretty nice about the F25 chassis. I do like the N20 as we had one on lease in an X1 and she liked that car but I wouldn't own one long term. And I work at the dealer..
  3. My small work area. The Napa toolbox I bought when I worked at the parts store when I was 16. I remember it was $1680 at the time. I felt like I made payments on that thing FOREVER!. haha. It's served me well. I wish it had larger drawers but owell.
  4. The GTI is the WAY better (I can only have/afford/want/maintain one car) choice here compared to the FRS. I own both. Its not even an argument.
  5. Good for you man. I remember your post a year ago. Seemed like you already knew what you were gonna do.
  6. Never liked MR2's but this peaked my interest. Looks like maybe its at ON3? https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/d/sunbury-mr2-with-rsx-type-k20-swap-with/6835246419.html
  7. These jokesters know mine isn't slow either. They just prefer to bust ballz.
  8. Ill take that as a compliment coming from you. :fuckyeah:
  9. I would not daily my BRZ... I love the car but I would not have it if I needed it to be my only car. But on that note, I wouldn't daily most of these other suggestions either..
  10. Nice GTI. Really like those. Lot of car for the money. I wish I wasn't trying to be payment free. Be a nice new daily.
  11. Yep, that's the one I was thinking about. I love all the vehicles they post. I can't believe how many old cars/trucks they pickup to build/resell.
  12. I can see myself being ok with an auto for my next daily. All my DD's have been manuals for the last 21'ish years. I think as I get older, the traffic gets heavier and these autos get better it makes o.k sense. My wifes X3 has a ZF 8 speed and its excellent. The engine in front of it is a bit wheezy but her previous X1 had a 2L turbo with the same trans and it was a fun little car. So I think it depends on what the auto is paired with and what its in along with the programming. I toO thought 8 speeds was overkill until I drove them. The 10 speed in the mustang might be great as well but the logic is so bad I wouldn't ever consider it even though I loved the rest of the car.
  13. On a similar note to the last couple post, I use this in my C10 and it works well. Pretty inexpensive (<$150). The "display" you could hide just about anywhere and the amp is small. I didn't hide mine but used this because I didn't want to cut the dash or the trim.
  14. I bought one similar to the second link for my BRZ about 2 years ago. It was in the $300ish range though. It was Android though. Im assuming thats the price discrepancy. It works okay'ish. In your case I will say the FM tuner is pretty weak. Weaker than any other HU Ive had in any car. In my case I typically tether my phone to it and use internet radio, etc. I probably shouldn't comment about anything else on it since you're not looking at and Android unit. But Id be concerned about the FM/AM in your case.
  15. Why does it have to be purple..ugh Somebody I follow on IG is doing a Hellcat swap in a 64-65 chevy truck I think.. Can't remember who. Ill edit the post if I find it.
  16. Ugh, that sucks. Thats like my worst nightmare..
  17. I looked up that suspension you wanted this morning. Pretty inexpensive for a BMW kit. Its readily available as well.
  18. I want to at least try and go to Norwalk for the last day in the C10. I think I would enjoy long hauling with someone if it wasn't my car/truck. Im sure that sounds lame. But at least I think Id want to start that way.
  19. I absolutely agree with you. You and I aren't that much different. Ive maxed out what I can do without completely changing what I do aside from being a manager which doesn't appeal to what I enjoy doing. And I think I would still make less money. If I could push for moving up the ladder that would make perfect sense. But as you know in the automotive world, the ladder goes mostly sideways at a certain point.
  20. I don't hate my job but don't love it either. Im pretty bored at this point and wish there was more of a challenge. But the compensation is pretty good and I would definitely take a cut to move onto some else. Does anyone else have that internal battle on whether you should be satisfied doing what you do? I feel like a good percentage of my friends and family think I've done pretty ok for myself and should be happy.. I continue to wonder if I should be pushing for the next step. I'm always torn.
  21. If you haven't done so already, spend a little time on the trip advisor forums. I use it every time I plan a trip somewhere Im not familiar with. There is always good advise from locals and or people that know the area well. Its a good way to get tips or help with specific questions, itineraries, etc.
  22. I don't have any advice, but Im interested to hear your trip report. This is on my wife's "want to do" list.
  23. I bought a SA2015 for HPDE events in 2017 for like $150. Basic black open face. I think its a Zamp maybe? I can look if you're interested. I couldn't find one locally so we just took measurements of my dome and ordered one online. Fit fine.
  24. Oh I felt that right off the bat. The fuel pump died. Stranded me. Then a few weeks later the starter died. Stranded me. Then a couple weeks after that the alternator quit. Luckily i was close to home. I think ive gotten the big bugs works out.. haha Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
