I have seen one case before where a winch was right at (or so we assumed) the working limit, and with a near-full spool of wire it wouldn't quite reel in, but if we ran the cable out (off the drum) if would just barely pull in the load. I don't know if that was your problem or not, or if you even have that much cable on there.

The word on the Garand streets is that since Korea didn't pay for these (they're were MAP grant guns) but they want to sell them for profit, to us, we're saying no. So basically, we gave them away + now they want to sell them back to us = fail. Hopefulyl it works out and some happy importer gets them. I'm sure only a small portion of them are actually nice. Just like most of the stuff we get from other countries, it's mostly beat to shit junk/parts.

I doubt that. Most of the people that buy these from CMP are buying them as 2nd, 3rd, or 50th+ plus firearms. They're collected, and it's not unusual for CMP buyers to have literally racks of garands/carbines. They don't make them new anymore, so the only place to get them is used. This is very sad. Unfortunately, that's the kind of fail-logic we voted into office. Good job America.
