  1. not an electrician, but took some industrial electrical courses, i recall my instructor telling us about a problem that was somewhat similar to this, dont remember the details 100% but he ended up determining it as a "ground loop" problem. is this something that is possible SloSVTruck?

And if I didnt snow so much up here-I would have just waited for a V. You can find them with around 100k miles in the mid 20's. No better bang for the buck!

That being said I have a 535 X Drive and a freaking love it. $200 and a few clicks-and its fast enough to make me happy. Put 3 cars from 40 on a Subaru that just ran 12.6@109 that same day :)

I am kind of on the fence right now, do I want the ability to do endless smokey burn outs, pretend to be a cast member of Tokyo drift, and have less power train loss or do I want the ability to drive the car in the winter too.

I have a big truck for winter driving, but it would be nice to drive a luxury car all year round.

  4. -Has to be a four door 5 Doors :fuckyeah:

    -Has to be auto yes

-Has to have some type of forced induction Yes

-Will probably be a 2013+ 2012 Close enough, sub 30k miles

-Budget will be 40-50k Slightly over

the cars so far on my list are:

    -Mercedes e63amg

    -Dodge Charger hell cat

    -Cadillac cts-v

thats a beautiful car, im just not a big fan of the wagons.

  5. If you're not actively searching for this car with cash in hand - these threads are worthless.

So much can happen in 2 years. We all know that.

Lets talk about this in 18months.

BRB starting a thread about buying a lambo in the next 4 years.

The thing is, I am actively searching. I would definitely like to hold out for another year, possibly two. But in all honesty, if I come across the right deal today, I am going to go out and get it.

The whole purpose of this thread was to see what other people would suggest and to see if anyone knew of any substantial problems with the three vehicles that I was already looking into.

So far there have been a couple suggestions that, earlier I would not have considered, such as an Audi s4 or s6 or the Chevy SS

  6. In that case, RS6, maybe try to import an Avant for maximum awesomeness.

EDIT: Oh totally forgot, it'll be higher price range but if there are any used available at that time, the Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk aka Hellcat SUV.

That Cherokee is pretty sweet, not sure if it'll be in my price range when I am ready to buy, looks like starting msrp will be around 80k.

I am kinda hoping that if I hold out another year, the ctsv v3 will start flooding the market and the ctsv v2 will plummet in price significantly to where I can buy a newer, lower mileage one for dirt cheap.

I am also kinda curious if the ctsv v3 will depreciate as fast as a mercedes does.

  7. Have your wife drive an SUV and you get a fun car. That's what we did ;)

ha, she already has an 07 yukon denali xl.

The problem is, the last couple fun cars I have had are fun at first, fun on the weekends and fun when I just want to do some spirited driving. Unfortunately, when it came to daily commuting or taking the kids places, it became more of a burden to take my fun car. So I started taking her car places which left her without a vehicle to drive, aside from my truck which she refuses to drive.

So now the deal is, I can buy a fun car, as long as she is able to drive it.

  8. Will be on the high side of the price range, but I bet you'll be able to find an RS7 or at least an S7 by that point.

The s7's are pretty sweet, but it looks like it only seats four, I forgot to mention I have three small children. thanks for the suggestion though.

  9. Automatic 4-door "fun car" that you may be buying in 1-2 years.

    K

yes unfortunately with three small kids, it has to be family friendly and something that my wife will be able to drive. I say next year or two because I would much rather pay cash and not worry about a car loan.

  10. Weistec E63

He goes over some of the common issues in the video. Looks like there is a Eurocharged one for sale not too far away.

    http://columbus.craigslist.org/ctd/5574874338.html

    thats pretty badass

i am really leaning towards a v2 ctsv, maybe if i hold out the v3s will come down to my price range :fuckyeah:

the e63 is a badass car overall, probably would not go with the weistec setup, doesnt sound like it would be a good daily driver with the exhaust drone.

it would be hard for me to decide between the 12-13 year models that are rwd or the 14+ models that are awd.

  11. Hey guys, in the next one to two years (maybe sooner) I plan on buying a fun family car. I have been too long without a quick car that I can take to the drag strip and have some fun with. I have some certain criteria that the car has to meet because my wife will be driving it too (rarely).

-Has to be a four door

    -Has to be auto

-Has to have some type of forced induction

    -Will probably be a 2013+

    -Budget will be 40-50k

the cars so far on my list are:

    -Mercedes e63amg

    -Dodge Charger hell cat

    -Cadillac cts-v

Would you guys recommend one over the other, any known issues with either of my choices so far, any other car you guys would add to my list?

  12. can't imagine ever getting used to this. my sister does something similar and its difficult. she is an ER physician and will do 10-12 shifts a month, but has to alternate day and night shifts every so often. that's one of the reasons ER has such i high burnout rate

its definitely not easy to get used to

alternating between nights and days every so often i dont think would be too bad. the way we do it is,

    mon, tue- days

    wed, thur- off

    fri, sat, sun- nights

    mon, tue- off

    wed, thur- days

    fri, sat, sun- off

    mon, tue- nights

    wed, thur- off

    fri, sat, sun- days

    ect..

  13. If my memory serves me correct, that system has a 4th gen i7 and a GTX 870M? not bad for what its rocking. I had my eye on the Lenovo Y50 for a while which was within the same price bracket as the MSI. Hope you enjoy the system. Were you able to get things setup the way you wanted?

yep its not too bad of a laptop, i really wanted a brand new sager with all the bells and whistles but than i said fuck, as nice as it would be, it wasnt worth the 2-3k price tag for what i do.

i also looked the lenovo's and almost bought one but changed my mind at the last minute, cant remember why now...

i have not set it up yet, i wanted to make sure that it was possible to do first before i ordered the ssds.

  14. looks like your questions are answered, so I gotta ask, why get a beefy laptop? Especially a model that doesn't have a docking station option... I never understood why people have crazy laptops when you want to use a desktop with multiple monitors, etc...

That's easy, I don't own or want a desktop. I need the mobility of a laptop but I use it as my main computer at home too. I want the performance of a desktop but in laptop form so that's why I buy gaming laptops. Plus I bought it for under 900 lol

  15. Thanks for the help guys, I greatly appreciate it! I take your guys archive and just do a clean install. Also after doing enough research I have come to the conclusion that it is msata and not m.2. But I guess if I stack all 3 msata ssds as a raid 0 I can get around 1500mbs read speed and over 1k write.

In this laptop the msata adapter takes place of one of the sata drive bays

  16. hey guys, i have a quick question. i just picked up an msi gt70 2pc dominator 895 laptop. it came with a 1tb hd. it also has the super raid 2 option.

i havent been following all of the computer technology stuff for a long time, so needless to say, im kinda confused by some of the stuff i am reading, so if i am misusing terms or incorrectly associating things, please correct me lol

i want to install a 128gb ssd in one of the 3 msata slots and run the os off of it.

    first off is this possible

2nd is super raid 2, msata and m.2 all the same shit?

3rd, how can i transfer the os onto the ssd?

    thanks guys
