My uncle had this same problem with his late model VW. He went through 3 trans, but all were repaired within a respectable time. After the third failed, he took it back to the lot and they bought it back. I'm pretty sure he had it less than a year, and got close to a 100% buyout. I couldn't tell you if he pulled the lemon law line up, but I think you could probably get them to buy it back. Good luck.

its only 300 bucks, so im not out much. and ive never played with a turbo...so it would be some experience before i bought something too expensive to f up. i've been able to find parts online, actually. and they dont seem over priced. wanted to see if anyone else had played with them.

So I was at my grandpas shop the other day workin on my car, and he said he had a car he wanted to get rid of. Its a 86 Subaru XT 1.8 turbo fwd manual. I have never seen one of these cars. Ive done some reasearch on it, and cant really find many bad blogs/reviews. it does need some work with the fuel system..thinkin lines, pump or injectors(s). he said he'd sell it cheap, so i was thinkin it could be a fun car, maybe to just thrash in. any opinions? past experiences?

ive done this to my ranger before, only with coffee cans. works suprisingly well as a quick temp fix.

this forum i was reading the other day said there's this shop that does the vr6 sap as well as an audi awd swap. it was over 5 years old, but they had descent result, or so it seemed. im sure it cost your first born to have it done, but its a sweet concept. i'll prolly just start with a new car, only to be drug around by a neon. haha

thanks for the advice guys! ive actually already sent out feelers for the vr6t, seems like thats going to be a pretty penny, but, like you said, the power appears to be limitless. i think the first step will be suspension and brakes. ive riddin in massive trucks that have less body roll. haha. i have already found some sweet forums, but thanks for the info!

I've been lookin for something faster to drop in it; might as well start with the right powerplant. at least it's a 5-speed. i was hoping to find some other vw fans, because i'm not really sure which way to go with it. it should be a fun project car though. and im not sure of his username i l brian c. not brian either...gettin fresh so soon. buy me a drink first. haha.

Hello all. My name is Eric, and i drive a stupidly-slow 97 jetta gt. Go ahead and tell me how many ways you would kill me on any type of track...I wont argue. She's obease and under powered. I'd love to buy something new to start with, but wouldnt we all. I hope to put some money into it...just graduated college so i should have some to play with soon. When i bought it, it screamed "potential" to me, so i couldnt turn it down. That's the way most money vampire projects start anyway. I was told about CR by a friend. He said it's a cool place and that there are people on here that know pretty much everything about cars. Sounds like my kind of thing. I could use the help and someone could use the business. I expect to be cooked pretty good since i drive an import, but i'm used to it. VW's for life. I couldnt afford most of the cars some of you drive, though they are pretty damn nice. I'll post pics of the turd after i bathe her. Stew in anticipation.
