Sure there are. When done right

No under engine cover. I will say this, I like my setup a great deal, and I like it w/no under engine cover, and with no deflectors or ducting. When I shut off the car after driving and raise the hood, you can instantly notice difference. No rush of very noticeable hot air, at all, and you can put you hands right on air pipes, IC, etc...and they are not nearly as hot as used to be. I get a crap load of air thru the vents I put in the inner fender liners too, them pics will come up soon.
-
Without a doubt. Huge difference in both size of actual runners and the surge tank difference on the UIM's. To give a quick comparison, the distance from the outer most bolt holes (furthest foward and furthest backward) on the LIM flange, where it mates up to UIM flange, the COSMO manifolds are just shy of being 2in. wider !

Naturally I did consider strength. I don't feel it compromised it at all to be honest. It has been on there all summer w/no problems. It was actually a crap load of work to do that. I really like it though. Def different.

LIM PICS: Before & Mods I changed from OEM FD upper and lower intake manifolds to Japanese COSMO ones for this project. Much different looking, thus...part of the new look picture. However, they are also bigger, much larger diameter runners mainly. As a result they are not a direct bolt on. Some modifications required. Cool, cause thats just my style. An w/all the work needed to make it fit, and eliminating all the vacum line nipples in place of welded in bungs, and cleaning, and cleaning..... I,,, decided to cut all the excess material off too :megusta: I hate cover plates. They were not going to go w/the new picture at all. Dont take much to ruin a engine bay picture either I tell you what. Started w/a 4.5in cutting wheel. Works, but way to slow for this deal. I quickly switched up to my carbide cutters, which I use for porting these engines. Let the aluminum fly! Before pic here: http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/LIM%20%20BEFORE/DSC02890_zpsbea9be72.jpg The COSMO intakes I obtained had black powder coat on em. Fun to get off too... Why coat aluminum, defeats whole purpose in my opinion. Everybody like something different...... http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/LIM%20%20BEFORE/CLIMB1_zpsdd6e2396.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/LIM%20%20BEFORE/CLIMB2_zps566eb01c.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/LIM%20%20BEFORE/CLIMB3_zps0a2e1653.jpg Fabricated pc. Before pics. Disassembly. Main engine harness. When I modified it approx. 5 years ago I decided to use multiple colors of tape, and spiral loom....seemed like a cool idea at the time :fuuuu:. Shows way to much dirt, and after the fact looks like my brothers kids did it....oh well. Just the basics now, black 3M SUPER 88 tape. Only used nylon loom where I thought it was needed. These are just initial pics of harness at the start. More will come up later. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/W%20WIRING%20HARNESS%20MODS/HARNESS%20BEFORE%20PICS/HB1_zps802d0cf5.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/W%20WIRING%20HARNESS%20MODS/HARNESS%20BEFORE%20PICS/HB2_zps8119e5b1.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/W%20WIRING%20HARNESS%20MODS/HARNESS%20BEFORE%20PICS/HB3_zps5914a41b.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/W%20WIRING%20HARNESS%20MODS/HARNESS%20BEFORE%20PICS/HB4_zpsba217d3f.jpg

Finally had time last winter to do some stuff to mines . Basically, well mostly, change lots of stuff in engine bay, and some interior stuff too. Nothing done out of necessity, mainly for a new look, keep it fresh and upgrade some stuff. More I got into it, more I was glad I did. I have spent last few years on other peoples FD's, mines needed some attention. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/ENGINE%20BAY%20BEFORE/9790b00d-3670-476a-8e91-ff7f28a9c327_zpsfb3a1ee8.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/1%20ENGINE%20BAY%20PROJECT%2011-2013/BEFORE%20PICS/ENGINE%20BAY%20BEFORE/e0b7269f-2915-4bb3-be2f-4cd878855379_zps5cf8be1a.jpg

I assume you mean a manual rack for an FD? Yes, think its called GRABBER GREEN. It goes w/my quick identify setup dealie...long story short, coolant related pcs. you'll see some green. Sorta a trademark of mine, if you will. V-MOUNT is very nice kit. I cant take credit for that though, kit comes from DEFINED AUTOWORKS. Very nice kit. Again, thanks for all the kind words. I was actually able to spend past winter on mines. I may just do a post on that here soon.

Always check the wires right at the motors on outside of motor cover. The OEM mounting setup has OEM IC ducting and OEM air filter box mounted so they tend to sit on and rub on them fan wires. So I always have to address those. Will not be an issue w/new setup, Defined V-MOUNT, with some minor tweaks lol. Its a very nice kit though in my opinion, especially compared to most others. Price is reasonable too. So anyway, fan wires all dressed up w/all the attention they needed, and then some. Overkill is under-rated in my opinion. :lolguy: http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Electric%20Fans%20EF/ElectricFans1EF1_zps391e2fc3.jpg See what I mean about cleaning dirty plugs.... http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Electric%20Fans%20EF/EF2_zpsa9371d43.jpg Best way to clean these is to....cleanly, cut em off! :fuckyeah: http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Electric%20Fans%20EF/EF3_zpsc06deba1.jpg Them plugs just connect to another harness less than 18in long which runs to a plug connecting to actual fan relay. Given that, I decided to eliminate them ugly mothers and hardwire em. Easy enough to just unplug at relay if needed. No brainer. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Electric%20Fans%20EF/EF4_zpsf005a005.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Electric%20Fans%20EF/EF5_zps8285d4f0.jpg

OEM computer removed, new POWER FC stand alone. Mod OEM brackets to accommodate PFC....mounts just like factory . AEM WB and TRUBOOST guages mounted in pillar. Remote commander mounted w/BANZAI holder. Alpine CD player, conservative but it does the job. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Interior%20Electronics%20IE/InteriorElectronics1IE1_zps5f2e6379.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Interior%20Electronics%20IE/IE2_zps23a52ca8.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Interior%20Electronics%20IE/IE3_zpsbb93004b.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Interior%20Electronics%20IE/IE4_zpsb7b169d4.jpg

A quickie clean up and paint touch up on steering rack, cleaned up rubber boots, looks much better. These cars turn fine w/o PS in my opinion. It gives you much better, much more accurate feed back through the steering wheel too. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Engine%20Painting/Main%20Engine%20Harness%20Mod/Engine%20Related%20Parts/PowerSteering1PS1_zps62b973a8.jpg Fabricated fitting and hydraulic line for PS loop line. http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Engine%20Painting/Main%20Engine%20Harness%20Mod/Engine%20Related%20Parts/PS2_zps95b4cc3e.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a473/KD93R1PB/CLARKS%20FD%20BUILD%20-%20Start%20Pics/Engine%20Painting/Main%20Engine%20Harness%20Mod/Engine%20Related%20Parts/PS3_zpscaf35470.jpg

When done right, there is no need for pistons. This is not science fiction, its science fact! I admit, they are not for everyone so I can see why you would say that. However, this one will always be rotary. Plan is next winter for me to pull engine, port, upgrade seals, single turbo, big fuel, etc. I estimate approx. 500hp afterwards. The owner is a player on this build, I know he wants to take it up a notch soon. On another note, these cars, when done right can be extremely fast w/just 300-330 hp. Food for thought.
