Battlefield 3 is a given. If you want a change of pace....Portal 2 is challenging and humorous at the same time. I consider it a must. If you have the Orange Box and didn't play the first Portal...no problem but you should go back and do that too some time. It was the best part of the OB.

That being said...you need a better support process. I always make my guys pair-up so no one gets stuck ruining their holidays. You should have had a backup person that could have had your back. I'm an addict. Avoid deathmatch game types until you get some skill. Remember it is a team objective game....not a k/d ratio thing. Don't expect to run and gun like COD.
