  1. The other day when I drove to work I had a 1/4 tank of fuel. Went to lunch and came back still had 1/4 tank. Got in to go home and the gauge was on E and the light was on, but by the time I got home the gauge was back at 1/4. and still on 1/4 right now with about 310 miles on this tank. Any ideas as to what would make it act up like that? No check engine light on or anything and the cap is tight.
  2. Thanks for all input and opinions. I have been middle man relaying info back and forth, when she does actually put forth an opinion other than "I don't care". This is strictly the wifes car and there will be no modding it, maybe some different rims she really wants pink rims.

For our situation which would be the better option? It would be her daily work car, as of right now its a ~10 minute drive, and then we would be using it for road trips and for dance competitions which are out of state. Example is, regional's were in Cleveland and nationals this year are in Tennessee. Usually nationals are in Florida, which we would probably fly.

  3. There is a guy I know out here in Newark that has his own business making these things, if were still looking for someone to make them. Talk to Josh(alittlelessordinary), he can get you more info as he sees him more. I used to work with him.
  4. Why not drive your current car into the ground? It sounds like it offers everything you need except new looks and the unneeded 3rd row.

It's halfway there already. We need more space for hauling luggage for dance competitions and vacations. We plan on patching it up and giving it to her mom so she has something to use.

  5. Thanks Geeto67, a lot of information about those that I haven't dug into yet. After talking with her some more she says 3rd row isn't a necessity but would be nice if we have to take the kids friends anywhere. She mainly wants more space. Minivans are still an option, but any ideas on the bigger suv's to look into?
  6. caravans are rock solid up to about 80k, then the trans can get iffy. Other than brakes and oil changes, I've never had an issue with one ever up to ~90k. Some went a bit more, some a tick less but up until then they've been rock solid for me and I've been through nearly a dozen of them. Plus parts are usually fairly cheap too and they are easy to work on.

Same platform as the van, less space and a useless vehicle. Do not buy.

    This ^

luckily I am now an apprentice to the transmission guy at work. I can pull them but haven't done any internals aside from valve body's yet. She really likes the sienna, so I'll have her drive a couple and a Grand Caravan.

As for the Avalanche being on the list. That was just a list of vehicles she has shown an interest in. Trying to figure out what she wants is a chore in itself.

  7. We're looking at getting the wife a new car. Time frame would be late summer early fall, as the oldest is in dance and has just started the competition side within the last few months. This vehicle would need to be able to go long distances and get decent mileage, some competitions are out of state. She has a 2001 CRV right now. She doesn't want to buy new and have the depreciation hit us after we drive away. Would like to be less than 10 years old preferably closer to the 5 and under range.

    Here are her wants/requirements

    Bigger suv style/ possible minivan

    Relatively decent gas mileage

    Used- but still newer

Less than 50k miles on it

    Good amount of rear storage

    Wants to stay under 20k

She would like to have 3rd row seating, and really wants steering wheel mounted controls but thats not super important she just keeps saying she wants them. She's not really picky about brands/models.

list of vehicles she has shown interest in:

    Avalanche/Ridgeline

    Sportage

    Newer CRV

    Grand Caravan

    Sienna

Subaru Crosstrek-still might be too new and out of our price range

Really just wanting opinions and thoughts on the list of vehicles, or if there are others to consider please list. We'er just in the research and looking faze right now. Not sure if the AWD/4WD is an issue for her or not, the CRV she has now is only fwd.

  8. Would rock the white car with the MUO 124R plates..

Unsure if that is a older Yota or potentially a Mazda (Other??)

Pass on the Lotus Elite type 75 (Yuck)

Agreed still a cool article and would be cool to visit if close and half way around the world.

Is that the orange one? I like the styling of that one.

  9. I plan on doing lots of research and planning on this. The stock motor only has 127k on it right now so she still has plenty of life left. Which will give me time to gather and build.

I'll keep you in mind on that turbo, right now my extra money is going towards paying off Matco and the first loan.

  10. If you really want to turbo your car, why not do it right? And even if you do decide to put a turbo on it, you have more to look at than just bolting on a turbo kit.

I have a full build idea using a ls or gsr starting point, not shooting for lots of power or a track only car. I want around 350hp, enough to have fun with but still be pretty reliable for daily driving. We were gathering the scrap at the shop the other day and the turbo was laying there. I thought if it was worth the effort then I at least had a start to the build. I'm planning on buying a bit at a time here and there after I finish paying off some debt.

side note: what are the main differences between the gsr and ls B series motors?

This is about what I want. Also where I got the idea of engine platform.

  11. I have a turbo that was replaced under warranty off of a dart. The seals started leaking on it, no shaft play at all I had one of the other techs check it out. My question is this, can someone point me in the direction of a website or person that makes an adapter for turbo manifolds? It would be going on a B series honda. I have a build idea if this wont be such a hassle. I would like to know before I take the time and money buying and resealing this turbo.
  12. I found a couple decent looking off road 2 seaters for less than 1k. One was on power sports max.com or something like that. 15mph max 5.5 hp motor. I was also thinking about putting a clamp on the throttle cable to limit speed until she gets a hang for throttle control. With the rc truck she has its either full forward or full reverse. No slow for her. Haha
