2002 Hyandai Elantra GLS cranks over, won't start
Rocky31186 replied to smokin5s's topic in Tech and Tips
It's hard after he's done so much stuff. I would start from scratch if I looked at it. Needs to have a solus scan tool or one like it to check each part. I've seen the wires going down to the crank sensor get pinched and wear through. Which will cause no spark no fuel. There are a ton of things that he can check. Start by making sure all fuses are good, and hook a scan tool to it. Hell tow it to a shop and have them diag it. Would have been cheaper than spending all the money and time in replacing all the parts that he did. -

"Nothing came up" as just checking engine lights? OR looking up parameters, and doing a health check. When you put the new pcm in was there any kind of initialization process? Sounds more like you have a sensor or electrical issue than a timing like i thought. -

Someone was definitely throwing darts at the dart board on this car.. Has anyone actually hooked a scan tool up to it to see whats going on? -

Smart cars are 99$ a month I think. They have a sign on them by Easton.

Did he check timing? Those are notorious for timing belt issues. Eating the crank sensor. Start with a compression check or check all timing marks. -
Thanks Tim. Anyone else have pictures this year??

Thanks. We have that one and a 4 year old 75 pound boxer. Not sure if I've posted this picture before. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/fdb6952d.jpg

Yes they extended the coverage on this, it should be covered if your not over 60k miles. If you want me to work on it to make sure its done right, just let me know.. Or you can go to any toyota dealer. Keep the TSB with you and make them replace it. Anything more I can do to help, let me know.

Yea I just picked it up and it's all scuffed up from someone throwing it across the ground or something.
-
TTT, still have this thing. It looks like new, can text pictures.. Just need it gone..
-
It is a cake job. Hope its under warranty, if its not I can talk to a service manager and see if I can do anything for you..

Just got a call from the body shop, they got my bumper back. Going to pick it up tonight.
-
Issue about doing anything about it, is he didnt put it on the R.O. Like he said he was going to do.. So I have no proof that we agreed that I would take it. And he charged me 5$ to get rid of the bumper. Almost as bad as dealership salesman, hide the small print.. Still no phone call, I have to go back there to pick up my other truck later. So I hope they find something out otherwise I want compensated for the bumper.

Wow.. I would have givin it back by now...

Really half tempted to go to it too. Ive always wanted to go.

Cliff notes at bottom I decided to run my jeep through the automatic car wash (Captain carwash in canal) on new years eve.Which I always take my Jeep through automatic car washes. Pulled in and the wheel stopper was broken, I obviously didn't know. Made a noise when I pulled up to it, car wash finished and I pulled out. Sounded like something was dragging, so I got out to look. The car wash wheel stopper was broken and the air valve that moves the wheel stopper was also broken. The wheel stop took the whole bottom lip off of my bumper. I talked with the owner on the phone, and manager on duty. Called the sheriff for a police report just incase they tried screwing me. The car wash owner contacted me monday, which I was already out getting estimates to fix it. He told me to give him the estimates and he will write me a check to get it fixed. I ended up choosing Rutherfords auto body because of the reviews. And people that I've talked to. The pickerington location would not work around my schedule and they wanted me to reserve a time for them to give me an estimate.. Even though I told them I need a new bumper, bracket, and splash shield. So the captain car wash owner was very nice, he wrote me the check to get it fixed. I wasn't out to make money off of this, I wanted my jeep fixed. Dropped it off at rutherfords auto body to get 1700$ worth of work done. I told them specifically... "Do not drill any holes in the bumper, as I don't run a front plate. Also I want to keep the old parts, they are mine. Just put the bumper in the back of my jeep." He said he wont put it in the jeep due to getting dirt on my intereor, so I said ok. I will put it in there when I pick it up, no big deal. They called me after a day and said the new bumper they got is not the same. To edgumakate you, the 2006 srt jeeps have a textured center. They no longer make that bumper anymore, so I have a 2008 style smooth painted front bumper. So I knew it wouldn't be what I had, but was hoping they could get a textured bumper to match the rear bumper.. Went to pick it up late thursday night, they close at 6. Finally got there at 5:30. Went to use my card to pay for it, and they said no. They have a 1000$ credit / debit limit. Ok, Ill write you a personal check. No, there is a 500$ personal check limit. So my option is to get cash.. Oh wait I cant get 700$ out of the atm tonight. Even if I could they tell me "The phones, computers, and credit card machines all turn off exactly at 6pm." Ok Ill get it the next day. So I show up today with the cash. Pay for it and check out the work. Looks great, paint and color is factory finish. Where do I pick my old bumper up at? "Let me go get it and I'll bring it around.." I wait, and he comes around empty handed.... Really?? He tells me they have a refurb company that comes and picks up salvageable bumpers, And they took mine. I say ok... Well you need to get it back, or we will have some issues because its my bumper. And we agreed that I would be taking it with me.. So he said he would try to contact them and find out where it is. Hopefully he can get it back. I will be contacting the owner / manager about it if he doesn't get my bumper back. I could have EASILY sold it for 400-500$ on my jeep sites. Cliff notes.... Captains car wash ate my bumper Owner was very nice and cut me a check Ruthafords auto body does great work but customer service blows No body shop should have a 1000$ credit card limit. They sold my bumper to a refurb business and probably wont be able to get it back.. And some pictures.. Not horrible damage, but enough to replace the bumper and the metal support.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/jackedbumper.jpg Everything hanging off the bottom http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/jackedbumper3.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/jackedbumper2.jpg And the new style, as you can see the whole center is painted now.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/newbumper.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/newbumper2.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/newbumper3.jpg

Weve seen a lot of these come in, its the transmission mount on the top of the transmission. A very easy job to do yourself. There is a TSB on it, depending on how many miles you have. Toyota extended it to 60 months, 60,000 miles. Some info on the TSB T-SB-0068-09 February 19, 2009 Transverse Engine Mount - Abnormal Noise and Vibration on Acceleration Some 2007 - 2009 model year Yaris vehicles may exhibit an abnormal noise and vibration during one or more of the following conditions: ^ Accelerating from a stop. ^ While shifting gears. Previous part number 12372-21130 New part number 12372-21131 Warranty pays us .5 to replace.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/motormount.jpg
