  1. If you can get into a "real" welding career with no experience, they must be desperate for employees. The guy doesn't know the first thing about welding, do you think a company is going to throw him in there as a work hazard and say "here's your welder, start building." no. I never said I "cant" or I'm afraid to. I have certified welder friends that do this for a living. I have plenty of years of welding and fabrication. I would still not want to make welding a career without getting properly taught in school. That's like saying someone who doesn't know anything about Wrenching, but has seen it done. Can jump right in and be a master tech. Highly doubt it without proper training, and the only place that will probably hire you is valvoline. So he is better off going to school and getting a degree in welding if he wants to make a career out of it.
  2. Depends If it was removed or added..
  3. Several jobs as what? A weld that needs to perform and look good? I HIGHLY doubt that someone who is self taught, could jump right into a career as a welder and work with the big dogs. Try again. I'm a self taught mig, tig, and stick. And I would never think of making a career out of it without going to school for it.
  4. Looks good. Maybe pick a weekend that it's at least dry. And we can get more cars out.
  5. Nice, glad your going through with the project!!! Can't wait to see it.
  6. He is looking to make a career out of this, I highly doubt that being self taught your welds are worth anything in a career point of view.
  7. Maybe he has some kind of medical reason?
  8. Eastland career center welding program. Got my friend in a nice job at worthington cylinders.
  9. You love your job because you get to look at outies all day? Very cool story bro..
  10. Still being in the mechanic world is fun, not working on cars anymore is great. Not worrying about economy or what time of year it is, makes my bank account happy.
  11. I know your pain man. I had to get out of it. Sadly, I made over 50k working at new Albany Midas for 3 years. I'm very glad I'm at the airport now making twice as much as I ever made on cars. And it's hourly. They hired a service tech here. To work on basic cars, 20$ an hour. Like I said Im glad I got out of cars. There just is no money in them anymore.
  12. Could have a bad fuel level sensor. Reset odometer and drive it till it runs out. If it starts cranking long Everytime I would say the pump is taking a shit. I would hook a pressure gauge up and see what it has to say.
  13. I personally never buy extended warranty's, as I always get screwed on them.
  14. Well, I waited 2 days and heard nothing. I called the customer service number, and got in contact with Tom. He made it wayy too easy for me, as I didnt even have to argue. Had the couch a year, and he is going to deliver a new sofa, and take this old one back. If the new one, is wired the same; he is going to refund me for both sofa's and let us pick something else out. I am happy this is going the way it should, all I wanted was a new wiring harness. And I was prepared to get the shaft, and have to splice the wires myself.
  15. I never realize how many bad reviews Ashley Furniture has. We bought a brand new living room set when we bought our house last year. We were sold on the power reclining sofas because I hate to hold my position when reclined in a normal chair, and the positions felt better on my lower back. So we pay extra $$ to get the power sofa. (I should add that we went to 5 different furniture stores) So fast forward to a year later. I notice that when pushing the recline button, sometimes it stops half way. So I get under the couch to find out what's going on. I find the wiring harness going to the motor, from the power box has been rubbing the steel frame of the recliner. Everytime it opened and closed it rubbed. A year of using it, cause it to rub through and short the wires together when it touched the metal. There are black marks on the wires where they have been sparking / getting hot. Checked the other side of the couch and same thing, it's almost rubbed through. Luckily there is what could be highly flamable nylon stretch stuff that holds the coushin on. That had not caught on fire. This could have been a very bad situation. And I believe they should recall these sofas and get them fixed. So far I have not been able to contact anyone. Emails and calls to no human. All I want is the wiring harness replaced and fixed so it won't rub through. I could cut and splice it myself, but this is a manufacturer defect. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/9E62D13D-BF1A-416E-8305-5F148E89CACA-5499-0000060AE8B1B4B8.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/AD9D48E7-9110-4AD5-863F-79F8A8C776F6-5499-0000060AF8755746.jpg TLDR: if you own a power reclining sofa, check to make sure the wires are out of the way.
  16. My last Saturday off. I better go
  17. Honestly they don't care how qualified you are, you have to be a company man.. Not a good tech.
  18. 6.5 isn't bad... I'm guessing you don't work on cars that much?
  19. Yeah they are interference motors. So if timing slipped, your screwed. Start with a compression test. If all proves good, recheck work.
  20. Doesn't have to be a v8 to get $. I would pay 10k for it.
  21. Interested in Grand Cherokee's, Durango's..
  22. Typically the people selling stuff ring the door bell first, and when no one answers they knock on the door multiple times. Standing there with a smirk on their face. I'll have to look into a water feature. I do have a bedroom window on 2nd floor above the front door. Maybe I can pour a bucket of water or something. Fire crackers? Got some of those.
