I have a couple buddies that are extremely good friends, like help you out in a pinch, bend over backwards to help you move, work on a car, etc. But when it comes to money, or worse, paying people back money, they have huge HUGE problems...

Explain. There are a few easy fixes for jack problems that involve adjusting internal screws, however u have to be extremely careful not to break the digitizer connector ribbon upon disassembly.

bought one on CL for $40 that ended up having jack issues, they (jacks) are an absolute bastard to replace (at least the ones you have to soldier in). If your going to buy a used one make sure and check/verify the version as alot of the older ones have bad jacks (from what i've heard)

I ended up saving like $4000 with mine, and I took care of my car. Shit got the headgaskets/timeserts authorized on the 2nd to last day before the warranty expired too, although the service writer played a huge role in getting them approved. I forget everything as it was years ago but I got the alternator,ac compressor,brake work, electrical work and then got the timesert/headgasket job done. Also my deductable was $50 or $100 and the warranty itself was $1500, this was 12 years ago though. That said a buddy of mine saw how I made out like a bandit and purchased one only to get completely fucking shafted. He took his car to a smaller shop for service and ran into all kinds of problems with authorization etc. Once he broke even on his policy the warranty company flat-out canceled it with absolutely no justification (a year before it was set to expire btw) and word-for-word told him "sue-us".

How IT/Internet savvy is your father? My family/extended family personally wont let any Women/Seniors (lulz) run anything other then macs due to all the virus issues, just something to think about.

Yea sorry, I meant if you find your repair is covered get the work done at the dealership in which you purchased the warranty from, they should have significant leverage over the warranty company should an issue arise, at least thats what happened in my case.

And yea read your warranty terms and verify what is/is not covered. I've had aftermarket's initially deny claims that were clearly supposed to be covered per my policy.

I'd go ahead and get the work done at the Dealer you purchased the warranty from, If the warranty company gives you any shit bitch to the Dealership, they should have significant influence in the matter as they are they ones constantly selling / marketing the aftermarket warranty's products / services. (hope that made sense)

I refurb/fix/flip macbooks part-time and could probably cut you a pretty good deal on a 13", got a few laying around but it's going to be a few weeks until I can get them up and running as im pretty busy at the moment.

Not sure about lasting longer but for the most part I have to agree 100% with this statement. I've been a Windows fanboy for years and always hated macs, however after learning ( well really watching first hand) just how easy it is take take complete control of a windows based OS (even one running a top of the line Anti-virus) I will never go back. (and when I say complete control I mean remote access to everything on your computer, and the ability to make modifications to your operating system, watch you on your webcam, log all your keystrokes etc etc) - and no i never did any of that shit but I know people who did, or at least could if they wanted to. But besides all that one of the other key reasons I went with a mac is the Graphics. I got a Core-2 Powered Dell Inspiron and the Graphics card is absolute junk. It is amazing how much clearer pictures / websites are on my Macbook(s) it's like surfing in HD. Voted for evenings as im usually busy during the day / like to relax with a cigar at night but whatever works.

I should add that I was smoking a fatty about every-other-day during the summer/fall when I got "addicted". Once a week and you should be fine. And even if you do get addicted it's real easy to quit come winter cause you can't smoke them inside.

You still get nicotine through your gums, similar to dipping, especially when you get more then 1/2 way through the stoge and the end starts to get slobbery. And its not anything close to cigarette addiction, but you do feel the urge to have a smoke.
