  3. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/10/03/501364/main20114867.shtml PERUGIA, Italy - American student Amanda Knox, who was convicted by an Italian court for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, was acquitted today by an appeals court. Her murder conviction in the 2007 slaying of her roommate Meredith Kercher was thrown out by the jury, and she was ordered immediately released from prison after nearly four years of detention. Knox collapsed in tears after the verdict was read out Monday. The murder conviction against her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito was also thrown out. The judge upheld Knox's conviction on a charge of slander for accusing bar owner Diya "Patrick" Lumumba of carrying out the killing. He set the sentence at three years - meaning for time served - and a fine of 22,000 euros (about $29,000). Knox has been in prison since Nov. 6, 2007. Sobbing, Knox was escorted out of the courtroom. Knox and Sollecito had been convicted in 2009 of sexually assaulting and murdering Kercher, who was stabbed to death in her bedroom. She was found in a pool of blood and covered by a duvet the following day. Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison, Sollecito to 25. Also convicted in separate proceedings was Rudy Hermann Guede, an Ivorian man. They all denied wrongdoing. DNA evidence used to convict Knox and Sollecito has since been scientifically discredited. Prosecutors can appeal today's acquittal to Italy's highest court. There was no word late Monday if they planned to do so. Inside the courtroom, Knox's parents, who have regularly traveled from their home in Seattle to Perugia to visit the 24-year-old over the past four years, hugged their lawyers and cried with joy. "We've been waiting for this for four years," said one of Sollecito's lawyers, Giulia Bongiorno. The Kercher family looked on grimly as the verdict was read out by the judge after 11 hours of deliberations by the eight-member jury. Later Knox's family said in a statement, "We are thankful that Amanda's nightmare is over." They also expressed thanks for support Amanda received from all over the world. "And last, we are thankful for the court for having the courage to look for the truth and overturn this conviction. "We now respectfully ask that give Amanda the privacy she needs to recover from this ordeal." Outside the courthouse, competing protesters - some supporting Knox, some not - added their voices, with cheers as well as shouts of "Shame, shame!" As the verdict was announced, about a dozen supporters from the group called Friends of Amanda, gathered at a downtown Seattle hotel to watch the proceedings on TV, burst into applause and cheered. They began chanting, "She's free!" and "We did it!" Jubilation in Seattle as Amanda Knox is freed Earlier Monday, as hundreds of reporters and cameras filled the underground, frescoed courtroom, Knox tearfully told the Italian appeals court she did not kill her British roommate, pleading for the court to free her so she can return to the United States after four years behind bars. The court began deliberations moments later. Knox frequently paused for breath and fought back tears as she spoke in Italian to the six members of the jury and two judges in a packed courtroom, but managed to maintain her composure during the 10-minute address. "I've lost a friend in the worst, most brutal, most inexplicable way possible," she said of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old Briton who shared an apartment with Knox when they were both students in Perugia. "I'm paying with my life for things that I didn't do." "She had her bedroom next to mine, she was killed in our own apartment. If I had been there that night, I would be dead," Knox said. "But I was not there." "I did not kill. I did not rape. I did not steal. I wasn't there. I wasn't there at the crime," Knox said. "48 Hours Mystery" correspondent Peter Van Sant reports that Knox appealed to the jury - members of which wept openly during her statement - to reverse the conviction and let her return home. "I insist I'm innocent and that must be defended. I just want to go home, go back to my life," she told the court through tears. http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2011/10/03/AP111003113391fixed_370x278.jpg

  5. What do you mainly use it for? Surfing? Gaming? Any software that you run on it alot? Do you need alot of storage for pics or vids? Do you need speed? Or do you have an external hard drive to store?
  6. I assume you're referring to Jeff's post??!!
  7. Thanks everyone (except jeffro:finger:) Thanks everyone. Beth is actually feeling ok today (we were anticipating alot of soreness). An officer did show up to the scene, he didn't have ID, so I guess SOP is to do a patdown, cuff, and put in the back of cruiser (that's what he did). But he basically told Beth that they would impound the car, give him a ticket, and then cut him loose. We did get his information (name, address, place of business). We spoke with our insurance company yesterday and they will actually go after him on our behalf and re-coop our deductible before they re-coop $$ for the damages (was happy to hear that). We have very good insurance, so I everything will get fixed and we are covered up to $100,000 for medical if Beth needed to go to ER/Urgent Care/etc. Again, thanks for all the well wishes, and I will keep you posted with any new news. Have a good Friday everyone.

  9. Fixed....... ^^ My reasoning is that I'll annoy this shit out of him until he pays up. Or I can go to his place of work "Spaghetti Warehouse" and hassle the shit out of him there.....can you tell i'm a little pissed off about this? I don't want to pay $500 for some other fucking idiots mistake.......You would think if you have no driver's license or insurance you would pay extra fucking special attention to your driving. My wife was at a complete stop when this guy screeeeeched into the back of her...it could have been avoided by just paying attention to the giant Ford Edge in front of him.
  10. So my wife got rear-end yesterday by some, no English speaking- Mexican kid with no driver’s license and no insurance. So we now have to file under our uninsured motorist and pay out our deductible to get her vehicle fixed. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this? Can I sue this piece of shit for my deductible and any medical bills (wife may go to doctor today due to sore neck and back) or will I be spending more on legal fees to chase this guy and have nothing to show for it at the end? What if I just start showing up at his house telling him I want my $500 deductible? I may actually do that. The system sucks, because the officer told my wife that he would write this illegal alien a ticket and then cut him loose(he can’t hold him for anything) ….that seems like a bullshit call for rear-ending someone and then getting to walk away with a small slap on the wrist. /endrant Again, are there any attorneys/police officer’s/people who have been through this among this board that can offer some free advice, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

  12. this ^^ I used to deliver pizzas in high school/college and would get free pizza's or the ones that got screwed up and would take them to a guy that used to hang around a certain off ramp......I figure instead of hoping they spend the money on something 'to help' you just take a step out of the equation and do it for them....have to feel bad, but at the same time there are many programs and opportunities to do SOMETHING.
  13. spool rear end on DD = no thank you
  14. I would also reccomend this HF box. I have it at home in my garage and it works very well. If you are familiar with GarageJournal Forums, this box comes highly recommended for the it's price over there. I've had mine for almost a year with no problems. I work on my car about 1-10 times a month haha I was basically looking for the same thing, with ball bearing drawers and ended up with this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/13-drawer-red-industrial-quality-roller-cabinet-90320.html http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_2244.jpg
  15. Yeah, I gonna have to jump on this bandwagon.....this car (or any track car for that matter) should typically be one you have no problem leaving the keys in and walking away from if something happens to it....... So either, always drift where there are no walls, or find a different DD as you build up this car.....my .02
  16. so here's the thing with 3D tv......it has two engines instead of one, so when you are not using the '3D' capability the refresh rate is supposed to be superb, because it would typically use those two engines to support 3D, and it can now use them both in 'normal' HD to give you much better picture and quality. So since i watch a very good portion of motorsports and car 'shows' I see this as a HUGE plus to have such a good refresh rate on my TV.....that's where my head is at....so I can use the 3D IF I want, but I will get a much better picture quality TV......that make sense?

  18. So my Samsung DLP that I've had for alomst 5 years finally 'shit the bed' last week. Wife and I went to Best Buy last night and looked at a couple of options. We are looking to buy in the next day or two, so I can watch the F1 race this weekend Anyone out there have any insight into brands? We are looking in the $1000-$1500 range. We would like the TV to be 3D capable, but it doesn't have to have all the apps and wi-fi and stuff, but it seems like if it's 3D capable, it has all the extras....but the apps and wi-fi would be nice to have, not need to have. Here's the two we are looking closely at: Front Runner: Samsung LED 3D http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+46%22+Class/+LED+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+3D+/+HDTV/2121725.p?id=1218310410578&skuId=2121725 With this TV they are running a promotion right now where I would get 2 pair of 3D glasses with it, a Blu-Ray player, and the 3 Shrek Movies on Blu Ray for free (about a $450 value) Link to promo --> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat251200050018 Second in line (in my opinion): LG LED 3D http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+LG+47%22+Class+/+LED+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+3D+/HDTV/2128045.p?id=1218310412070&skuId=2128045 With this TV, I don't get a Blu-ray, but I get 10 (yes 10) pair of 3D glasses so I can have a viewing party or something. Link to promo --> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat252800050008 Supposedly with the new TV's you and 'Upconvert' the image and watch any show or race in 3D on both of these TV's....so the glasses are pretty cool to have. I am a Consumer Reports guy and the LG ranked 2nd on the list for LED TV's....the Samsung was about 5 spots down on the list, but still ranked well. To recap: Samsung - $1499 with free blu-ray, 3 blu-ray movies, and two pair of 3D glasses, we've owned a Samsung for almost 5 years previous and have been pretty happy with it LG - $1199 with 10 pair of 3D glasses, ranked 2nd on Consumer Reports list, and is a little cheaper.... I kind of know which direction I want go, but would love any feedback from you guys who know their schtuff about TV's, and if I should look at another model or brand specifically. Please chime in and TIA for any info, feedback, etc __________________
