  1. So Thompson's got back to me and said the DMD board needs replaced and it's going to be $413 to get it fixed......does anyone know if this is an easy fix that I can do? I researched the part and it seems to be in the $150 range, so I'm paying a heck of a lot for labor. If I replace this part am I just delaying the inevitable, like putting a new motor in a 200k mile body?? Can anyone help with this? TIA
  2. how fucking stupid do you have to be??????
  3. Lowepro Slingshot AW200....AW stands for 'all weather' because it has a rain jacket that is attached to the bag that covers it and repels the rain. I've taken mine to many Formula 1 and other races (Mid-Ohio this past weekend) and it works great. You can wear it, and then 'sling' it around in front of you for easy access to the pocket. They make a couple other ones that are larger too, if you think this is too small. Would reccommend this 100 times over. http://www.cameraworld.co.uk/images/products/large/Lowepro%20Slingshot_200%20AW%20200.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/75/200135312_deab0a0930.jpg Rain cover storage (it is permanently attached to the bag): http://www.photonomikon.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lowepro-slingshot-200-aw-cover-tuck.jpg With it deployed: http://www.photonomikon.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/lowepro-slingshot-200-aw-cover-deployed-front.jpg
  4. Dropped the TV off at Thompson's this morning.....I'll let everyone know what they say....
  5. We need to get this dude out for some Rallycross!
  6. Thanks all......keep in mind this TV is nearly 5 years old, and a 42" 5 years ago was not cheap.....I will NOT replace with another 42" ......we're going bigger I'll at least pay for the trip charge to have them come out and give me an estimate, if it's something easy then I fix it and move on.....if it's too expensive, I start shopping :masturboy:
  7. Yeah, we had another issue with it before and that's who fixed it.....thanks for the vote of confidence to use them again
  8. I like the analogy, but the sensor has been checked, that is fine. I am noticing that for the few minutes that I can get the TV on, I am getting some 'ghosting' of white lines that are faintly flashing across the screen in random places....is this leaning more towards a color wheel?? Also, would the color wheel be turning off the TV like it's doing?? From what I've read on the internet, most people who have a problem with the color wheel are just having issues with the picture and it doesn't turn off....??
  9. :dumb: Well thanks for posting the steps you took already.....shit! I didn't really want to buy a new TV. I'm probably going to have a repair place come take a look at it, i'll get an estimate for a repair and weigh my options from there. Thanks again!
  10. makes all the same sounds that it has in the past, so no, no 'random' clicks, but it does click when I turn it on like usual....I have picture and sound for 5 minutes, and then it goes out each time. I keep turning the thing on and it keeps doing that over and over, no decreased picture quality or anything
  11. I don't much about TV's so I don't know what 'color wheel' means or how to check that? Can anyone give me any tips on how to troubleshoot this myself?
  12. ok, thanks I'll check...... fan works, and it's not that dusty....should I hit it with some compressed air, or will that potentially damage something?
  13. I have a Samsung DLP TV HL-S4266W, and it was pointing to all the signs of the lamp being bad (I haven't replaced since I bought the TV about 4 years ago). Well, I got the lamp assembly today, installed it EXACTLY like the Samsung website said to, and it turns off after 5 minutes and all three lights flash on the power button, just like it did before I switched lamp assembly. Can anyone help me with this? I'm stuck!
  14. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it...... I have an extension so I can mount it to the inside back window and I forgot it that morning, so I had to make due with what I had......I really wanted a view out the front of the car too, trust me.....I bought some Hankook Evo V12's and they are pretty much at full tread, so they were screaming for mercy.....I'm used to running Hoosier A6's for autocross, so I may try the R6's next time..... Thanks for the constructive critisism.....yeah I was defeintely not as relaxed as I should be.....I was pretty shook up that day from seeing that wreck in front of me, so I think I was second guessing each turn.....that spin didn't help much I look forward to many more in the future......
  15. short version with spin long version with spin
