Going next Saturday (21st). Road trip tradition with the guys at work. Would have gone this Saturday but had a Beerfest conflict :megusta:
-
It feels much better already. :dumb:
-
Still sucks. 'Road feel' has been numb with both EPS cars I've driven. I understand that, theoretically, there should not be a difference between boosting the steering with a hydraulic pump and doing so with an electric motor but maybe it's the fancy programming you get as a gift with purchase on the electric systems?
-
I *hate* the electric steering on my Shelby *and* my Audi. Electric shit indeed. :fuuuu: This car needs an SVT package including the 3.5L ecoboost out of the Taurus as an option. Talk about a segment destroyer then!

Posted on wilmongtonmile.com by "Camisade": Had an email exchange with the ECTA President today. Guess I'm back to deciding if I want to bite the bullet for Texas. :-/ Here's what he said: "It is all about your safety and NOT about making money. I build race cars for a living and have done crash investigation for NHRA, IHRA, SCTA and ECTA. I am a factory trained Hans Devise retailer. This training and experience has allowed me to see first hand the damage to vehicle and person that a crash causes. I have personally crashed at 195 mph, going airborne 85 feet and landed of the drivers side when my chute failed to deploy properly. I walked away because I dressed for the crash properly. We have gotten info from the factories on Vipers and Vettes and with a racing seat, arm restraints and 5 way racing belt system, allow them to run up to 150 mph. The limit without a rollbar/cage is 135 mph. A 4 point rollbar is 150 and 175 if it is a 6 point rollbar." So, basically, even if your car comes from the factory able to do 190mph+, unless you want to modify the crap out of it, rending it MUCH less usable for street (and reducing it's resale value), you'd be driving in a "speed" event where you could accelerate for about (or less than!) a half mile, and then just had to coast the rest of the mile. About the only car I could run the full mile here without requiring serious modifications is my wife's SUV. And I might even have to let off with it near the end.... :-/

Word. Been watching the unfolding drama on the Audi boards with the two latest competitors coming on line. Serious ass-chapping. Supposedly, 'stealth' tunes that Audi corporate has known about and been tracking for 2+ years, stolen data logs, .... Will probably wait until spring before tuning. See if any drive train problems shake out between now and then.

Is Starship Troopers the greatest movie of all time?
2011SVT replied to Dr. Pomade's topic in Dumpster
Movie, no. Book, yes. :fuckyeah: "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms." -
Wonder if it would drop on to the 3.0 motor mounts?
-
Wonder if this can be hooked into the 9500ci?
-
If this is successful, I can see the legislation coming. :fuuuu:

Covered. Totally. I cannot believe they still write that kind of crap into owners manuals. "Limit to 65% operation for first 1000 miles...." :lolguy: If it is dry tonight I may go out and play with the launch control. :masturboy: -

Their idea of an incentive is, "Buy this before someone else does!". The only incentive going on is a small perk on a lease (first payment/security deposit kind of thing). It's up on the Audi website. I think I 'stickered' a shade over $56k and then knocked a few k off in negotiations. You can completely load up an S4 and I think end up at $60k. -
Very nice. :megusta:

Came with the 18s unfortunately although that does give me room to either just buy the Audi 19" rims (which I think are tre sexy) and shoe them however I see fit for summer or buy whatever other set of rims I want. The wife says, "No mods. I know your tricks". Luckily she does not read CR. She is out driving it around. Maybe the Audi is just the thing to turn her to the dark side of the force..... -

Done. 2012 Audi S4 3.0 TFSI® Premium Plus with seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic® transmission and quattro® 333 hp/325 tq Monsoon Gray Metallic Eight-way power S sport seats with integrated headrests with four-way power lumbar adjustment Silk Nappa leather upholstery Black Interior Sports differential Audi MMI Navigation plus Carbon fiber decorative inlays Bang & Olufsen® Sound System Silk Nappa leather upholstery Audi advanced key Since it's an Eaton S/C too, I'm just swapping the Whipple 2.9 over from the Shelby for the winter (and then I'll swap it back in the spring). That plus race fuel, cams, meth injection, and a 250 shot should get me in the 800 awhp range. Perfect. :gabe: Thanks again for all the good discussion. -

New. We'll see how negotiations go today on both and hopefully can pull the trigger by the end of the week. If not, BMW has the F30 series coming out in February/March. -

Appreciate all the input guys. I think I'm down to deciding between the BMW 335xi with the M Sport pkg and 'Performance Edition' (320HP/332TQ) and the Audi S4 with the Sport Differential now that I've driven both. Likes about the Audi: Bigger inside Is more nimble (according to magazine tests) Much better seats Headlights make it look like daytime outside Fit and finish and quality of materials inside miles above the BMW Everyone (except Jones) doesn't have one. Is faster (according to magazine tests) Likes about the BMW: Feels more nimble Steering feel Sound under power Feels faster I could do either one of these with no regrets. I think the Audi is more of a luxury sports sedan and the BMW more of a sports luxury sedan in terms of the way they were designed/drive. The wife liked the Audi and wasn't too hot on the BMW. For her it was all about the cushiness. -
Just ordered. I loved the previous versions. Thanks for the heads up!
