I am the same way. But I have bought an American beater couple years ago for a daily driver. Cheap car that is easy and cheap to fix.

 

But there are some bad ass Hondas out there. Unfortunately, those guys get snubbed by kids visiting Vato Zone for mods. Makes it worse living near the Honda plant. But I always like seeing the guys in cheap "beaters" that look stock but would embarrass most anyone who provoked them. Those cars are so hard to find. My big soft spot is for BMW though.

This is where people will be like WTF!!!!! I had an e36 328is. I rarely got to drive it since something was always going wrong with it. So as much as I love BMW, I went looking for a RX-8. I found a Shinka RX-8 but was having trouble with financing. So I had a mishap with a trip home on 270 in my Saturn. Guy pulled in front of me doing 40mph while I was doing 70mph, and had to downshift hard since brakes sucked, and heard a pop from engine. I have lost a lot of compression. Made it home and started driving bimmer only to have the fuel pump die again. After some tests, I found it cavitated and got so hot within seconds, that it could have ignited the fuel in tank. Found fuel tank was not the right one since a factory pump wouldn't fit in it.

So I needed a car badly, and dragged BMW to dealer that would actually do shit for me that had a car that I didn't mind, and got a Cruze. I was done dealing with constant repairs on BMW and the fact it was basically a bomb for a while freaked me out.

And I edited first post since everyone is not seeing what I typed. That 200sx is not mine! It is a friends car that I am doing the work for. I am repainting it that Calypso Red Pearl, factory BMW color, so the car can be sold. I just figured everyone would get a laugh at the person who owned it before him.

Yeah, I know. My friend wondered why the car wouldn't sell. I told him I would have painted it years ago, but he didn't want to. So now he wants it done. I told him I was taking parts off his other 200sx and using them. I refused to paint that car and keep that wing on it!

So just in case people missed it, that 200sx is not mine. My cars may be slower, but at least I am not embarrassed to be seen in them.

The bottom end tagged and bagged, and bunch of other engine parts. Then the other goodies for it (reusing ACT pressure plate). Missing the turbo manifold and some other parts that are in the mail.

Obviously new here and my name is already known. So moving on. Friend told me to join up and decided to see what is going on here. A little about me......I live a boring life working at TRC testing cars, eating, sleeping, pooping, and working on cars on the side. Currently have a 200sx with bluebird sr20det that I have done a lot of repairs on from previous owner screwing up the swap (especially the electrical!). I am in the process of painting it to remove a horrid/retarded paint job, and put on a factory BMW color, Calypso Red Pearl.

For me, well nothing special. I just traded in an e36 328is for a 2012 Cruze. Yeah, I know......:dumb:......but have to understand the whole situation. I was trying to get a Shinka RX-8, and financing fell through. My Saturn had a mishap, and then my bimmer dropped another fuel pump which I found cavitated itself due to lack of space between prefilter and tank. Within seconds, it would get so hot, I couldn't touch the wires going to it (found that by hot wiring it to test). Luckily fuse would pop within millisecond to prevent it getting too hot. It basically became a bomb, and due to issues with financing, I just needed a new car right away. So other then my Cruze, I have a 95 Saturn SL2. I am one of those idiots tooling around with a turd. Currently building a new engine for it, just got new struts (reusing old lowering springs), and bought new parts for a rear disc swap. Also in the works for it is turbo....:lolguy:.....Not looking to make a lot of power with it. Looking more towards something quick and fun, while popping the hood makes you wonder if it was factory boosted. But had to put turbo parts on hold for now and only got the 4g63t manifold/heat shield at the moment (minor mods makes it fit).

So yeah, that's all. Maybe more, but can't remember.
