If you wanna see if you can save it just pull the head off and see what the valves look like, if its not too much trouble that is, besides, if the valves are hosed but the bottom end is okay, its cheaper to replace the heads than the engine, and if the whole thing is shot your not out anything but time.

In my expirences aluminum threads in general pull pretty easy (used to be a maintenance guy, repaired countless threads lol) however adding a helicoil to aluminum makes it much stronger, a machinist I used to work for used to helicoil any aluminum threads in anything he made, he wouldn't have to do it later that way.

Mjrsplat has I believe an act 2900 in his car, I drove it in rush hour and could hardly walk for the next two days, try like a 2100, not sure if they make that for your car, however its like 2100 lbs of holding force, maybe you can find something similar, pair that with a good disc and flywheel and you should be good to go, should be about the pedal feel your lookin for too.

Just a thought, the old gen 1 sbc motors can be built to around 600hp n/a (granted that would be a 383 or 400 pretty radically built) and can handle upwards of 1000 fully built with forced induction, but to say something for reliability, why do people always seem to take old fords and drop in a sbc?

Imho... government would be okay if they weren't exactly like big business, everybody worried more about lining they're own pockets than the state of the economy, shit I mean everything is paid for for them and they still get like 100k a year on top of that.
