If rust is already showing, it's too late. Cut out the affected area, weld in the replacement, and then rust-proofing coating can be applied.

Unless it's rare and precious metal like the ones inside a catalytic converter, scrap value is significant when you have, literally, a ton of it. Otherwise, it's just nickels and dimes.

Scrap value isn't that much. I say you'd be very lucky to get $1 for both. Fixing them can vary between $70 & $120. Unless they are very desirable, they are just a cool hose reel.

Weird thread. I can't think of anything that I'd be embarrassed to drive. I just wouldn't be interested to drive it. Although, I have noticed that I've teased about a couple choices about cars, they are Chevrolet SSR and second generation Isuzu Amigo/Rodeo Sport.
