Tim, many many thanks. The ol' girl looks amazing and I haven't seen her this clean in (sadly) prob 7 years. After 12 years of faithful ownership we've been through it all, track days, winter duty, Lowes runs and long commutes and I've gotten complacent over time and not given her the care she deserves but always loved her. The ultimate do-it-all car. Then she goes all "I went shopping at Fredricks, what do you think" and I'm all jaw dropped, knee knocking and stammering for words. I've fallen in love all over again.

Long overdue update... After some delays with house closing, weather and schedule, I finally had the floor put in early December! Took a week to cure due to the cold weather (didn’t have garage heater installed yet). Really pleased with it. To save cost I’m painting the stem walls in matching paint. Garage heater is now up and running and getting LED lighting setup as the previous 3 T8 fluorescent fixtures weren’t cutting it. Late to the game but I’ll chip in. I installed a 45k btu gas heater in my last house 3-car attached garage and it was the greatest thing ever. I DIY’d it and did horizontal venting. It cost me roughly $1500 all in with routing gas line to garage. Our new house had gas already stubbed into garage and it was a major selling point. I’ll be honest I suffered the one month I waited to get a unit installed. It’s like crack, once you have a garage constantly at 60-65F in the winter you can’t go back. It doesn’t work out for everyone, sometimes it’s cost prohibitive or not feasible to get gas line access. But if you have the option, it is worth it. Mini split is intriguing, but heat pumps aren’t that effective in dead of winter. I just use fans to circulate air in the summertime. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Totally all about the prep work. You need a clean and porous concrete for the epoxy to bite into yielding the strong bond. Like any paint, I'm sure it could be blended and you could work in sections, just have to grind up the edges and clean your canvas first. I had asked about if I cut up a section in the future to pour for a 2-post lift anchor and they said they could come out and patch/blend. I'm on the schedule for week of November 16th as they have a big OSU job the following week. The week after that they're hesitant to commit to due to weather/cold affecting cure time/quality. It is absolutely a DIY project and lots of success stories on Garage Journal. Unfortunately, it requires a significant amount of time and I have a serious lack of that.

Either my math or their math is off on sq ft, final agreed price is $4k. Yes a tough pill to swallow, but I lack the time to do this. 2 kids and a demanding job mean I’ll never get it done if I try to DIY. And as an engineer, I’ve DIY’d a lot. Well that was easy. Put in an online quote request with Columbus Garage Floor Coating this morning and had a call 1 hour later. Had inspection today on new house and they were able to meet me there to give a quote. Awesome experience talking through the process and my specific needs. We kept talking, the price kept coming down and we settled at around $4.65/sq ft for an industrial grade epoxy+grit broadcast+heavy poly topcoat. That also includes grinding and prepping the slab so it will be a perfect finish, and partially filling the expansion joints with a silicon-like material. Lifetime warranty, custom color and they can work around my closing date as things firm up with the purchase. Total turn around time is 2-3 days application, 1 day cure. I talked to Rick, their GM, and I'm happy to refer his contact info for anyone interested in talking to him. I'll report back next month after things start actually happening.

It’s been 5 years. And we weren’t even looking (well apparently Lizzi was), and this house popped up and was perfect so we’re upsizing a little. Covid quarantine magnified some annoying features with the current house, and we decided a little more space would be wise before someone gets murdered. Racedeck is great for certain applications. For light duty work, it’s perfect as it goes down easy and in sections. It also will cover up an imperfect and wrecked slab. Ours would’ve taken so much work to even getting close to being able to epoxy it was never worth time/effort/cost. Laying on a Racedeck floor while under a car is so much nicer than a cold concrete slab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for feedback guys. I have racedeck in current house but in contract on a new one with a 860sq ft garage. Slab is in decent shape but needs grinding and a little patch work to make nice. I have the opportunity to get it done before I move in my lift, work benches, etc. It’ll be used for an enthusiast DIY garage so looking at solid color polyurea/polyspartic. Solid Racedeck tiles are great but I still have to put down plywood under jack stands. I just want a nicely finished slab at this point. Yes, I've researched (love GJ), but looking for any experience with local installers as I don't have time to DIY myself.

Anyone have any experience with local central OH garage floor companies for epoxy/polyurea? I've researched enough to DIY but don't have the time. Slab is 13 yrs old and in good shape but does have some salt damage/pitting. The Google machine results are all over the place.

Does anyone do lens replacement? I tried the wet-sand+polish+UV protectant and it just came back to shit after a year. I got a new set of lenses for our Cayenne but the housing adhesive isn’t “bakeable” so they need dremeled off. Would love to outsource this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also have an 8K 4-post in my garage. It is.... life changing for both extra parking and service. I even use it to lift my spare winter/summer tires up to their wall racks for storage and just roll them onto the rack vs. trying to hoist up a ladder. Also got mine used for $1k.

Coming in late here. I love my “racedeck” solid coin tiled floor. It’s held up to jacks and is even run UNDER my 4-post lift without issue. Yes, I keep squares of plywood for under my jack stands but it isn’t terrible. I got a bargain price of $2/sq ft on a wholesale closeout thru Garage Journal. But tiles don’t work for everyone. While I would’ve preferred a commercial/industrial epoxy or poly-x, my Slab was too f’d and I have too much shit in my garage to make disappear. So the tiles were a no-brainer, and I have no regrats.
