  1. Saw VonRottes new Sonoma GT.

Saw a few CR guys (from this thread ;))

Met some cool younger guys with great rides. Nice conversations. Invited a few to CC&C and unfortunately a lot of people work on Saturday mornings :(

All in all a good meet until dum-dums started doing burnouts at 11:30. I am also remembering a lot of trash left all over the parking lot, which is sad...

Shoulda yelled at me. :p lol

I dipped out around 11:30 to go get food and booze, but I'll still be at cc&c tomorrow too.

  2. Hell yes. That's a keeper

RIGHT, this is about the same condition my S10 was in when my parents got it back in like 2003, then it sat for 7 years and started rusting to hell.

I'm going to do this right and restore the body completely, and do right by the GT name, and make her fast...lol

  3. Posting from my phone real quick wait on my sister in Etna...

So here is the new page where all the pictures will be posted

    projectbettywhite.tumblr.com

Yes, already named her Betty White.

Needs some good love but overall I don't think $3,000 was a bad deal. The body and frame are 1000x cleaner than my S10.

    Adding pictures

  4. The dealer can cut the keys from the VIN, no need to drill anything out

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk while street racing

👍👍👍 Spaced on that, yeah forgot once the new key is programmed the old key won't work to start the car.

  5. I have a ford IDS and can program the keys, but the would need cut first

Awesome! I can probably get the ignition switch drilled out and replaced myself.

I just don't have any real knowledge on the ford programming side of things.

I'll talk to my sister and see what she wants to do, and if she wants to replace the ignition with new keys or just get a new key cut I'll definitely message you, if you don't mind

  6. Dealership, or capable locksmith, has to re-program a new transponder key. That means either a house call or a tow, unfortunately.

If you have 2 transponder keys already, you can program all the extras you want at home. But if you have only one (or none) you have to take it to the pros.

    Gotcha, that's what I thought.

    Thanks

  7. I know how GM VATS works, its really simple, and apparently ford used transponders in the key...

So I have question, my sister has a 2002 Mercury cougar, when my house got broke into on the 15th among the stupid things they took, was my sister only car key.. Without the programmed key, how the hell do we replace the ignition switch/key?

  8. Well it's unofficially official.

Got the load paperwork filled out this morning, and will have the funds in my account tomorrow, soooo I'll probably go pick her up tomorrow after work.. I had my dad snap a pic of the VIN for me today to confirm it is a real GT and not a really good clone... And it's #70. So, I'm stoked about that.

I loved the Sonoma GT bodykit back in high-school (like a Typhoon but much, much cheaper :))

Look forward to seeing it soon in pics and in-person at CC&C!

They are nearly identical, save for the wheel arches and side cladding is different... Other than that it looks like a Syclone.

And they retailed for $10k less nada still lists clean retail at $15,000... I'm getting this one for..... A lot less 👍👍👍

Needs some minor cosmetic work, but overall I'd say the truck "cleaned up" could be worth 5-6,000.

I look forward to actually taking this one out and being more than a rusted out ls swapped S10 😂

  9. Hopefully you'll have it in time for cars and coffee. I'll stop by and say hello.

I sure hope so. If I do have it, I will for sure be at CC&C in her.

Nice, so you'll be able to switch most of the parts over right?

Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Actually every single part will swap right over, the GT was built on the same 2wd truck chassis as my S10, unlike the Syclone that was built on a 4wd truck chassis... But I'm revising my ghetto shit.. going to make this a proper restomod and keep it all clean, take my time doing it and not making the same mistakes I did the first go around.

  10. I am a firm believer in the "everything happens for a reason" no matter how shitty....

So as many of you know my 1992 Hoopty S10 was stolen and wrecked on July 17th, My inspection looks like the frame horn is twisted in. although the truck is still drivable, I don't want to throw money at it or have it turn into a money pit..

Well, The good news is I'm buying a 1992 GMC Sonoma GT.

141,000 miles, Perfect interior, body kit is intact and in good condition. paint is a little rough but the body is solid, the frame has little to no rust... What I would call a "barn find" even the original steel wheels are in perfect condition.

It's not finalized, but I've got the loan approved and should have it in my possession on Friday at the latest.

  11. Car didn't get stolen, but a couple years ago in the Kenny/Kinnear area someone got into my car parked on the street and stole my sunglasses, old school iPod, and a few quarters. They had clearly handled my garage door opener and yet they didn't open it and take the thousands of dollars worth of tools/bikes/motorcycle helmets/etc that were in there. Right around the same time as now.

I've long been a proponent of all-year education in this country. Make it 4 days a week, year round, and I guarantee summertime crime rates drop and graduation rates go up. We already pay teachers year round, might as well get the money's worth out of them.

My truck has been "broke into" several times over the last three years.

When I lived off Hall road, the head unit got stolen, couple times they got into and just tore shit up like the center console and tablet mount on the dash.

In westgate it's only been gotten into like twice, never took anything other than change in the cupholder < I don't keep valuables in the truck, so I usually never lock the doors. .

I wholeheartedly agree with that, as well as a few other "anti crime" measures... But that might hurt peoples feelings, or inconvenience someone that isn't a victim in a crime.

  12. Probably a bunch of kids with nothing better to do.

I noticed there's been a pretty steep uptick in crime the last couple weeks, obviously since school's out, but lots more car theft/vandalisms and shootings.

That is what we are assuming, since the ONLY things of value they stole were my wheels/tires (which are about $6-700) They didn't take any tools from the garage except for my floor jack (which is in the charger still) some jugs of oil, gas cans, etc.

When we got to the impound lot, both cars smelled like they had been soaked in gas, even the officer my dad was talking to mentioned it. Guess they were going to torch the cars and shit they didn't need/want to get rid of all the prints or whatever... Detectives are coming tomorrow to check for prints in the garage, and window where they got it, so hopefully that leads to an arrest..

  13. Wow. Sorry to hear. :(

EDIT: not to be insensitive, but your S10 is a pretty loud truck, I take it. Did no one hear it when it was fired up?

My truck unfortunately stays parked in the street, had it been in the driveway, I would have heard it for sure since my room is on the same side of the house.

  14. Both my 1992 Hoopty S10 and my step mom's 2006 Charger.

Along with two Wheels/tires I had not put on my s10 yet.

Both car were recovered this morning off south high steer, the charger in the walmart parking lot and the s10 stuck in the mud.

Both cars were wrecked, the charger is possibly totalled, s10 looks to just be sheet metal damage.

Appears most stolen items were left in the back seat of the charger, but the two loose wheels were not found.

So, If you guys could keep an eye out for TWO 19" Verde Parallax wheels (black with machined face) with brand new 275/40 Sumitomo HTR Z III. That'd be appreciated.

My dad is dealing with insurance for me, since it's on his policy. So I don't know what will come of that, I was able to drive my truck home...but it's pretty banged up.

  15. As of now the suspension is still holding together, has not settled much if any.

Think I've gone to 4 clicks compression and 2 clicks rebound.

Exhaust is holding up, need to replace a band clamp that I messed up.

And not sure what the hell caused it but my muffler it starting to.....wrinkle, like huge grooves around the circumference of the case, only guess would be afterfire expanding in the muffler? Doesn't sound weird yet but I'm looking at going to a Spintech sportsman 3000 to go in it's place.

And FINALLY Got the tires installed... Still need to order the front adapters. But I got the rears on already.

Went with a Sumitomo HTR Z III in 275/40r19, already got the corrected tune flashed for the smaller tires, ready to test them out lol

And speaking of tune, Last adjustments I dropped the PE to 50% throttle, 0s delay and pulled a total of around 5 degree at WOT. "seems" to pull a lot harder. peak is 26deg at 0.52/5600

  16. Finally looking to get new tires ordered for my S10 and I need to somewhere to install the tires..

Don't want the lip of the wheels beat to hell or the powder coating inside screwed up/pitted.

Working with 19x8.5 wheels and 255/45 tires that I'll probably order from tirerack

  17. Well she's back on the steer, made two all new pipes between the headers and muffler. got one leaky band clamp...

Replaced the steering shaft with one that still has good u joints and the damper isn't falling apart.

Did end up making it out to CC&C Saturday kinda late. drives amazingly, only thing I really have to compare it to is my dad's Charger Daytona R/T

but it rides and handles very similar save for my shit tires.

Only negative I've noticed in the roughly 25 miles I've driven it is....SO MUCH VIBRATION BEING TRANSMITTED TO THE STEERING WHEEL, Using poly shock bushings probably didn't help either. But I can live with that considering how well it handles now.

Still need to get her up to lucore to get an alignment, but other than that I think it's done for the summer until I can afford new tires.
