  1. Should have uploaded these and put them in the last post.

But heres where I'm at now.

Everything seems to be moving freely, with no binding though I did notice the tire hits the upper control arm at full droop (will literally never see full droop in normal use)

gonna bust my ass Friday to get it finished and cleaned up, then there is a 100% of her being at CC&C saturday morning.

I'm so stoked to have my baby back so I can stop driving around dad's land yacht silverado...

Also been working my ass off double shifting So I should be able to order the new tires in two weeks

  2. I might be mistaken, but I believe this group is the one Josh helped organize which met in Newark a few times but ended up moving to Johnstown because Newark didn't really have a place big enough for the crowd which would also grant permission.

The first big meet (2014): http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117484&highlight=Newark+meet

I know of two groups which meet from time to time on West Broad, one group which met at the Andersons on Sawmill (don't think they meet anymore), the QSL Friday night group, the group that meets in Delaware, the meet in Marysville, the North Columbus car meet group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1679192725638919/ which often just identifies other group's meets, and Central Columbus meets https://www.facebook.com/groups/709863799155615/ which does about the same. I'm sure there are a lot more Facebook groups that are brand-specific which announce local late night meets as well, but I'm not a Facebook member so I'm out of that loop.

    That's everything I know of.

Thanks doc, 👍 trying to get some more of my friends out on the weekend doing stuff that doesn't involve all of us getting drunk.

  3. Hit up the meet over in the old Chantry shopping center last night, honestly just a bunch of idiots trying to race... Curious for this weekend, are there other meets elsewhere? like is Polaris still a thing?
  4. Finally got shit sorted! coils I installed didn't work, sat nearly on the bump stops, so I ordered a set of viking coilovers and I just got them installed yesterday after work... got them adjusted this morning collars are about 1½-2" up and is about stock height. knobs are both at 4 clicks.

threw it all back together this morning and just took it around the hood.... speed bumps are soaked up like my dad's 2006 charger.

feels so much more planted than stock.. all that is left is get the front end aligned and hook the exhaust up... Super excited for this now.

  5. Friend of mine is looking for a Turbo Manifold for a I4 2.8l.... Colorado

Anyone here wanna tackle making one or have a suggestion of where to go to get one made?

and before anyone asks, No idea why he wants to turbo the 2.8 and not ls-swap it....

  6. I CAN NOT EVEN RIGHT NOW

skimming the thread I see some shitting on the poor and stupid...

Been there, where a flat causes me to miss work and spending money I don't have.

But, if you have $20 get a ride from a friend and take your happy ass to a junkyard and get a used tire.... not idea I know, but $20 for a tire that will last you until you have the cash to get a set of new tires is a hell of a lot better than R2O....

But I guess the majority of poor people are stupid, and this probably looks like a great deal to them..

  7. If 10" is your factory length then you can assume the coilover sleeve will give you factory ride height and maybe 2"-2.5" max lowering below factory height..

Factory spring free height is 14"

Loaded is 10.75" so hopefully I can get damn close to a stock ride height.

  8. On a prior car I had some BC coilovers. They were nice because you could thread the whole strut body down into the lower mount to set height, and then sort of fine tune spring preload (and ride) with the collar on the threaded strut body, compressing or decompressing the spring.

Is it a fair weather DD? Coilovers get TRASHED here because of the salt!

The ones I'm looking at are more or less just a cheap hybrid, they have adjustable preload, rebound and damper but they use the stock upper spring mount. So no adjustment in the shock length.

I've avoided driving it in the winter the last two years so I guess you could say that..

  9. The harshness of the ride is as bad as you make it. Don't go to something crazy stiff if you don't want to beat yourself up. Even on a stiffer spring a progressive rate will give you better street comfort and balance out the performance better too since you're lowering you center of gravity.

Also select your spring lengths so that at full extension of the suspension there's still contact between the upper and lower perches. If there is not the spring will drop loose then slam back into the perches over large bumps and uneven ground. That's what usually makes them loud and annoying for these guys that run a 6" spring and hella flush their junk.

That's what I figured, just something I've never really looked into until just now.. Didn't know if bad ride quality was inherent of coilovers, or if it was just poor setup on imports..

Looks like the sets that are sold for my truck both use a 10" spring which is factory spring installed length, so ????

Curious, what's the info on your '92 S10? What's all done to it?

LM7 5.3, 4l60e, ford 8.8, spohn control arms, soon to have 255/45r19's and various other supporting mods.

    CR build thread

  10. After getting the suspension put together on my S10, I guess the 5660 springs I installed are NOT the same spring rate that I had stock... so the front end is nearly sitting on the bump stops.

It's about 1" from the spring pocket WITHOUT the poly bump stops

So, I'm looking at QA1 coilovers.. They are a lot more than another set of springs but that is an install I NEVER want to do again.

    Questions are:

    1. Are coilovers worth it for a daily driver? obviously adjustability will make it handle a lot better than stock, but what about negatively affecting the ride quality?

    2. Anyone have any idea what spring I would need? seen various people with various LS engines using 350,450 and 550 all with varying results.

I don't want to drop it with coilovers, just a stock ride height, maybe 1" lower.

I was looking at QA1 one way adjustables, jeg has for $502 w/tax, but after a lot of looking found viking is a prefered brand for the price and with spanner and thrust bearing comes out to $60 more and they are two-way adjustable.

I know ricers that throw coilovers on their cars to drop it and then have to run the stiffest spring so it rides like shit,

  11. ordered some new KYB shocks and Bosch o2 sensors that will be here today.

Installed the drag link backwards, so I've gotta fix that..

but other than that she is just about ready to drive again, still need to torque down the control arm bolts.. but yeah... here is a shitty clip of the exhaust, didn't take it over 2k because 9am, cold and no o2 on the passenger side.

If I am able to get everything put back together before work, I will be at Cars and coffee Saturday morning with her.....if not I might still show up just to take some pictures.

  12. SHE LIVES AGSIN!!!!

got the headers installed last night, hooked the battery up backwards and melted the alt. charge wire and melted the terminal out of the battery...

changed batteries this morning, and fired right up and sounds AMAZING with open headers..... seriously thinking about getting some cutouts before I rework the exhaust..

All that is left to do is:

coolant, steering linkage, torque convertor bolts, exhaust, and shocks.

I'll try to get a video of it with open headers, after I get coolant put back in it..

just not sure if my phone or camera will be able to handle it without clipping the audio.

headers were a pain in the dick on the passenger side, ended up having to cut the starter shield off the bellhousing of the 4l60e (iirc these were made with a 700r4)

there is a slight bit of contact on the bottom of the cab, but they still went into place and bolted up... only part that worries me is I followed the instructions and used the included RTV to seal the headers, and ditched the gaskets...

  13. Either the person your dad spoke to is full of shit, or he misinterpreted what they were telling him. Yes they can't disclose anything concerning a customer account without authorization. Since your mom can't give authorization anymore you need someone to grant you the authorization. In this case you would submit the estate to the local probate court for administration and they would declare someone (most likely your father) as the executor of the estate. One that happens you will get a letter of administration (which is a court appointed power of attorney) that you take to the loan company, at which point they will then talk to you all you want. You need the letter of administration to close the bank accounts and perform other various functions on behalf of the deceased.

Couldn't you get that from a previous bank statement? If you have access to the bank account just search and see how much was paid and to whom.

Why is her truck in police custody? If there is a police action tied to your mother's death, you can use that with some of the financial companies to gain a little access, sometimes. What kind of paperwork do you have?

You are going to need letters of administration to get the truck released to you and not the finance company once the police are done with it.

Here is an FAQ from a probate lawyer's website. They are based in Worthington so might be worth it to contact them and see if they can help you:

    http://www.elderlaw.us/probate-estate-administration-in-ohio-frequently-asked-questions/

I'm not saying you can't do this on your own, you can, but the atty will make things speed along a lot easier. They will tell you what documentation you have can stand in place of a death certificate to get the probate process started.

I'm beginning to think they were just full of shit. I've passed all this information along to my dad and I trust he is looking into what needs to be done from here on..

Her truck from my understanding is locked up as evidence until after trial, my mother was the woman involved in the UPS shooting in february...

For paperwork we have nothing right now.. As I said I think all the finance papers and legal documents are in her truck.

Thank you so much for all your help, We're all more or less just lost on what legal actions needed to be taken to do anything..

  14. its unusual for a finance company to want the car back if payments are not late. . Usually they just want the money and will actually ask the executor of the estate to continue making payments. Have you provided them with a death certificate or power of atty yet? They usually won't talk to anybody without those things.

If you stopped making payments then naturally they are going to ask you to voluntarily surrender the car. If the car is underwater with the loan amount they may ask the estate to pay the balance. The bummer about the financial industry is they can be insensitive douchebags when they ask about this stuff.

The have no obligation to work with you on a loan amount adjustment or anything. However, if someone has good enough credit you could possibly get a refinance from a different company and they would buy your old finance company out of their position and then you have a new loan in someone else's name. The problem is that if the car is underwater on the loan you may still have to pay the old finance company the difference.

My dad talked to the finance company and he was told they are not allowed to disclose anything unless their name is listed in the loan... all we need to know to keep up the payments is how much it is..

I am 100% sure all the paperwork on the truck and everything else is in her truck, but it's still in police custody.

We are still waiting on "valid" death certificates... which we were told could take months for the coroner or whoever to release the cause of death instead of having a "pending".

  15. Them being the lien holder, and if she was the single signer on the loan, likely means can't do anything about it. If your mother had the loan paid down more than the present value (ahead of depreciation) then might be able to claim the estate owned "equity" in the vehicle. You probably do need an estate/probate attorney.

Thankts I was kind of scared that might be the case on her truck :(

Will deffinitly look into a probate attorney since she had no will

  16. My dad is looking into a lawyer to deal with some stuff about my mothers untimely death, he is talking lawsuits and stuff... But the main thing my sister and I are worried about is keeping her truck which she just financed in August 2016.. The Finance company is not "allowing" us to work with them on keeping up the payments or even paying it off.. It's not really much but we don't want to lose it because mom was really proud of it and it's just kind of a sentimental thing we would like to keep.

So I don't really know shit of how any of this stuff works, is there a specific lawyer we need to look for or is this something we're probably SOL on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as well as suggestions on who we should talk to.

  17. I have Spohn arms, all brand new steering stuff from GM and RideTeh billet tie-rod adjusters.

I think someone makes just a drop 1 spring which we be super close to a ZQ8 spring.

Well hot damn, Makes sense that it looks like a copy.

Only I went with all Proforge parts, heard nothing but good about them and they were fairly cheap...and those billet adjuster, so worth the extra $$ if not just for looking so much better than the stock clamp style adjuster.

I went ahead and ordered the moog 5660 spring this morning, they were only$62 from summit after shipping...so if I don't like them I'm not out much... may look into drop springs after I get the wheels and tires put on, just really didn't want to spend all this money on new suspension and then put it back together with old crappy looking rusted springs
