i heard them asking a statehouse spokesman about this yesterday morning on the radio. he said that yes, people had written on the walls, but that it was in chalk, so it came right off. regarding the poop he says that it was in one of the stairwells going down to the parking garage, and homeless people frequently use the stairwells as a bathroom. i used to park in the statehouse every day, and the stairwells always smelled like piss. i never did see poop, but if i did i would not have been surprised.

two things. 1. the cameras in columbus run on the same detection system as the signals. i.e. magnetic loop in the ground. if the traffic signal will not detect the bike, neither will the camera. 2. the cameras are also tied to speed. you have to be going near or over the speed limit to make them take a picture. if you come to a complete stop, then just roll through the red slowly, the camera will not go off. if you roll through at a low speed (10-15mph) without even stopping at all, they will not go off.
