I always thought it would be fun to build up a 850! I really like those cars for some reason.

I was speaking about Peter Blach. SW is one cool dude. He would talk to anyone who came up to him, and can drive the friggin wheels off of anything!

I never really reply to most of the idiotic things I see on here cause I usually have better things to be doing. This is my day off, and you sound like you need more information on what you are talking about, so let me begin by saying that 90% of the cars there were all from Texas. If you go to the Las vegas meet most are from NV, get the picture? Sure, there were a few from other states, but damn near all of the really high horsepower ones were from Texas. Every car that was involved with/near/didnt even know what the meet was was fast. Shit, there were civics so fast you would not know what to do with them here. As far as "houston vids" I havent seen any of those. Are they a basketball team or something? There are a lot of rich bastards who own fast cars out there who make videos, but at any given point in time I can get onto most any "well know" car forum and find at least a few videos from our area, and some being directly from this website. Sure, no one but Hua on this website takes a video worth a shit, but thats because IMHO most of the videos ARENT worth a shit. Crummy editing, stupid song choices, etc.....and no I am not flaming anyone. I am just saying that for a video to be popular it has to have fast cars, has to be appealing to the eye and ear, and it has to have good editing. So, not to say you are stupid, because you arent....but maybe you should spend more time getting your car ready to race Tilley and less time on this message board talking about racing him.

I perfer Chipotle. Oh, and anything Australia doesnt like isnt fast.

A halfie is slang for half bridgeport. Its where we open our engine up, do a lot of cutting and grinding and create another opening by the intake ports and REALLY open up the exhaust ports. Its like adding heads/cam to a typical piston engine. This is a street port engine - the street port is a little larger than a stock port. It extends slightly more downward for more duration and is a bit wider, kinda like higher ratio roller rockers and larger valves. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/fd3s7007/CarProjects013.jpg And this is a half bridgeported engine http://bdc.cyberosity.com/d/1071-2/RearSecondary2.JPG

I think I have the situation figured out. It seems that, and BDC (my tuner and RX7 Jesus) agrees with me on this, a super high flow exhaust (read 3.5" or more) tends to outflow the wastegate. I believe that Tony (Badog) agrees with this also. The theory being that because its such a low restriction the exhaust gas can generate such a high velocity that the turbo will hit very hard and spool very fast, but those gasses will simply be moving too fast to properly feed the wastegate. It makes sense in a weird sort of way. What I did to my car was to remove the wastegate spring pretensioner bolt that was installed in the top of the wastegate completely. I then richened the boost curve by 1% at 3500rpm, 2% at 4000, and 3% from 4500 and up just to be on the safe side should there be a spike. I drove the car, and in second gear boost seems to hold at 12 psi on a 9.6psi spring. My AFRs start out in the 13s go into 12s then settles in the mid 11s, eventually seeming to bottem out at around a very conservative 10.9-11.0. I did not see 15psi even in 3rd gear at high engine loads so I am thinking that I have mostly solved whatever was going on. Maybe there was still a little pretension on the spring, esentially making it act like a heavier one. I need to drive it with a co-pilot to verify this, but it seems that its pretty safe. The turbo spools fast - if at around 3000rpm I stab the pedal, I have 10-12psi around 3500 to 4000rpm. It does not fall off at all, and the car is much faster than it was when pedaling it. For comparison, I paced a 310awhp STi and he did not really pull away from me while I was pedaling the car to keep it at 10ish psi. I am interested to see how I fare now. By my and BDC's estimates I should be in the 300-330whp range now. Not too shabby of a starting point for a stock ported motor on such a large hotside. I am in love with the T04E turbo, and going with the P trim wheel and a 1.15 hotside seems to be the perfect choice for relatively fast spoolup time and not running out of breath at the top. He is coming back up here (Ohio) in July and I will be getting back on the dyno to finish my 93oct tune and then dabbling with 100 unleaded and then some C16! Cannot wait to see what 18-20 psi will feel like!!! Stupid rotaries behaving like no other engine out there!

Well, as badass as a TT Z06 will be and a highly modded Colt also, its kinda blase compared to what I saw when I went to the Supra meet in Houston, Tx a few years ago. Literally EVERY car that we were with was 800hp and up. Thats just not Supras, mind you. The guy who runs that even did 1040rwhp in his Supra in 04, sold it and has a Viper that burries the needles on a 1500hp 1500tq dyno at MTI or some other local shop. The list for 1000hp Supras down there grows exponentially by the day it seems. There are lots of turbo everythings down there, and it seems that texas air breeds high horsepower. My tuner lives outside of Dallas and has done 3 or 4 500+ rwhp stock port RX7s like mine. Shoot, his car is a half bridgeport that makes 450rwhp and gets 29mpg on the highway. I love living in Columbus, and I especially love that our car scene is exploding the way it is, but we definately have some catching up to do. Hey Doc - my car needs a halfie, wanna sponser me?!

pretty sweet. Wait till you have to buy all the other supporting crap to go with it! Thats where I under estimated my little project. Braided stainless fuel line and AN fittings are 'spensive!

diesel engines > * cause they dont mind a little detonation.

Um, yeah - I dont know whats up with the spacing. I just put the image html on a seperate line from each other. Maybe I should have them right after each other....i think i will try that. On a brighter note, I think that I fixed the boost spiking issue!! Just removed wastegate spring pretensioner bolt (AKA boltus maximus) that goes through the top of the wastegate and it acts like it wants to hold at 12psi. I need a co-pilot to help keep tabs on the AFR so that I can watch boost and drive, any volunteers! Just need you to sign this here little form...heh.

Amazing looking dog! I love the Terriers! What I wouldnt give for an American Bull or even an English Bulldog

Least you can be ON a list

thanks you should check back now that all the editing has happened.

Here are some pictures of my finally running 1987 RX-7 Turbo. I am currently trying to figure out WTF is going on with my overboost issues. I think that I have them solved and will hopefully find out tomorrow. Once those are solved, the boost tuning starts and the HP numbers start rolling in! Here is the Series 4 engine with slight modifications. http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/RX7EngineBay.jpg http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/RX7EngineBay2.jpg FMIC - note the minor bumper modifications that were made to house it http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/RX7Front.jpg Yup, as with any other 19 year old car, needs some body work http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/RX7LeftSideFull.jpg Tinman fabricated custom 3.5" exhaust and Borla XR-1 Race Muffler http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/RX7Side.jpg "Entry Level" sized single turbo http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/T04ETurbo.jpg And finally, the suspected cause of my overboosting issue! http://columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/Joe_Pics/RX7/WastegateOfDoom.jpg

Looks nice, hope it comes close to the "win the lotto and build a car" car. No offense to the good Dr. I could really care less who wins, both are cars I want to own but cannot.

LMAO! Its not even the boost controller. Its the little F'ing plug in the top of the wastegate! A guy on RX7club.com said for a wastegate to run spring pressure, you have to have the lower vacuum nipple going to a pressure source (still need to put mine into the turbo - found out its better for boost ramping) and to have the top of the gate venter to the atmosphere. I guess with it plugged, it does not let the valve move upwards, as it cannot expel the air above the diaphragm anywhere. It basically just creates a closed wastegate all the time. Damn it, why didnt I figure this out sooner!! I was almost ready to go to Iron Pony, grab some VP Import, and see what the bitch would do! :eek2:

I have been doing lots of research on that car for two days now and all that I can come up with is it has a SP400 auto transmission, around a 4500rpm stall torque convertor, and a turbo 88mm or larger. The quoted time was when the car did 818hp on a tighter convertor. I think Sam needs to move where the fast cars live

Boss permitting, the STi will be loads better than one of those by that time PS - I found out why my boost is spiking! Going to fix that ASAP!

Your STi badges are pink, fag.

No No No, you arent paying attention. I own the FZ1, not an R1. Why anyone with an R1 waste their time racing an FZ1 is beyond me.

I can dig a hole faster than you. That is all.
