Wow JP. You look EXACTLY the same as you did years ago when you drove down to c-bus in the Tercel with the park bench and giant "1.3L" on the deck lid. LOL!
Indeed! Just heavier.
Hopefully I will look like this in another 10! Update to come here made a TON of progress last night- but I am going to a party and may be unable to work on it after .

Raceing this weekend?

Good work! What boost?
Your torque number is scary.

Sold! If you see it at the Shootout-it aint mine!
Going home to Arkansas

As for THE COLT- I ran into an issue-clutch. I have a 2600, but no good aftermarket discs or flywheels for a FWD. I also have a AWD PTT twin disc, but we all know that wont work in a FWD bellhosuing, right?
Out comes the grinder!
http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/THE%20COLT%20v2/starter001.jpg
The AWD flywheel is a little more than an inch smaller than the FWD-so I figured I needed the starter to come down at least 1/2 an inch. There is no way to do this on the trans really. You cant to grind that much off the bell housing without destroying it, and I wanted whatever I did to be repeatable in-case of trans failure.
So what I dreamed up was to stud/brace the dust shield (IE/cut a bolt in half and weld it to the shield) for the lower starer bolt in a new position that will engage the AWD flywheel-and hog out the hole in the plate-retaining the top bolt for maximum stability.

The test rig with AWD flywheel and clutch-she works!!

It may be the first ever, but I am not sure anyone will be in a hurry to repeat this one. But for now- problem solved. PR fabrication FTW once again.

Everyone has there Vegas stories and tips.
I will just say if you are into the club scene, or want to be a true savage, shoot me a PM and I will get you in touch with the right people. Since your going with your girl though, I dont think you are going to be on my level.
Vegas is whatever you want it to be. The best shows, the best whores, the most fast money you could ever ask for. As long as you are having fun, you are doing it right.
And LOL that someone actually stayed at Bill's Gambling Hall. That place needs to be condemned!
-
Going to be interesting to see how many of these turds are at SEMA
-
Yeah, I think that's what I was getting at. For the normal DD user, this should be ok. For the performance minded person to the extreme racer and beyond, this should be nothing more than a good LOL video.
I dont know-I just put a motor together with a rust block that has an unknown deck surface and a Head I pulled out of a junkyard car 2 years ago. Billy Bob's surfacing would have been an improvement. :lolguy:
-
I'd say Fusion was easier-as it was running before it went into Mothballs, and I was not working so many hours during the week!
-
Many general automotive shops actually use a large belt Sander for surfacing......Not much different
But I love the DYI

Yes Manual = manual shifting with the stock shifting.
Reverse Manual =manual with a PRN123(D) pattern instead.
Oh yeah forgot about transbrakes, 4l60s dont like those either :fuuuu:
What is the benefit of reverse manual-so you can go directly to N form any gear without R in the way?
-
I dont think I have ever seen one white-
great looking car!
-
4L60
Built? Stock for that car correct?
If plan on building something with a manual valve body, I would choose the 350/400. After having talked with many trans builders, the 700r4/4L60e does not like manual valve bodies and very much doesnt like reverse manual VBs.
manual VB=manual shifting and Reverse Manual=use of a "trans break" correct?

Found a useable Head Gasket and some studs and slammed the head on. I am not sure the intake manifold is going to fit (may interfere with the clutch master) so it is loosely bolted up for now
http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/THE%20COLT%20v2/COLT.jpg
Went to storage and got a couple of bins full of goodeis. I should have enough to do an intercooler set up, all fuel (including cell, the car has no gas door!) and a few odds and ends. I should be ready to start the car with what I have there. 100% spare parts build looks achievable!

I have that flexplate in my Camaro, it's a direct replacement but has a second set of holes and came with an adaptor for the converter snout. I'm fairly certain the centerline of the crank and input shaft line up, but like I said have never done it personally so I don't want to tell you that it fits for sure.
It has to line up-otherwise it would not work.
What trans int eh Camaro?

It seems the correct flex plate is all that is needed? No mention of other issyes mounting a 350/400 to a LS motor
-
Ok I need more transmission Clarification- On the 4L60 and 80e- why do they seem SO much more expensive to mod, and in "built" form than the 350/400? How much can the stock 60/80E hold realistically?? Also any difference in the 4.3 Slush boxes?
It has been mentioned the 350/400 bolts up- but is missing a few locations-does it BOLT UP or not?? LOL does the input shaft line up correctly?
As for Manuals-does the T5 out of trucks work? Does the T5s out of 4.3 V6's work? Same mounting as a Ford T5 (that is in the car only reason I ask!!)
-
Yes-Head is on-Motor is 100$ assembled sane timing belt-Made a parts run to my storage Unit and found some more goodies. I should have enough to put the car together with some Swag.
Weather it will be done for the shootout still remains to be seen. I wont be able to work on it much until Thursday
-
One week.
Can you source a decent set of bearings in time? It would be a shame to see them take out the crank if they fail.
I'm running them-I poped one off any they crushed to spec. The are also to many other "used" parts going in this build to be worried about one sketchy element. The whole thing is sketchy!!! :lolguy:
-
Really-the tabs are just locators. If the set up is f-ed, the bearing will be fucked either way. I just dont like the way it looks!!
-
(no so) HI-TECH Engine Components.
More scketched out now that I can find nothing about them.

Quite disappointed that this thrash all but killed my SO weekend
Long story short- I was full blasted at a house party- and was rescued by Grassroots Matt and crew to come Mod some time after midnight. With the help of Supra Vlad, Angry Matt, and Ben BMX- the car was ready to fire at 5am-only to find out the fuel tank I was given many moons ago had a dead pump-after that I threw in the towel. I continued to party-passed out-and woke up at 4pm dazed an confused
Big thanks to Super Modder Vlad, Matt, Serge and Ben for getting the car literally ready to fire Saturday night. We did what takes most people MONTHS, in less than a week on 10pm or later mod sessions.
I am hung over, and beat from a golf outing today-so we will replace that pump and see if she fires tomorrow. This will probably be the last SO thrash I do on this scale unless I am unemployed an have all the time in the world!~
