  1. completely understand but there is also an upgraded turbo on this car and no size was said. i didn't know you could push that much boost on a 14b without having problems with the wastegate actuator, actually thought that was a problem with all internal wastegates and weren't supposed to put to much pressure on them.

     

    But it could have been upgraded to a say GT28, or V-trim, both of which are not even capable of the HP numbers you quoted. Again, just get that PSI number out of your mind. (unless we had more information)

     

    You can run 30+ on a 14b. No signal to the gate=party time. People have gone 10's on a 14b. Ideal? No. But you can do it.

  2. no i know alot of people with high boost cars, what is this cars psi stock at and stock base dyno run brian? its got good TQ but i would think at 24-25 psi it would have more HP figured mid 5's to 600 range.

     

    You need to read up on pressure vs. flow boss. The "Psi" is all but irrelevant for how much power the car is making.

     

    For example.

     

    My Colt at 25psi on a 14b- 239whp.

     

    At 25 psi on a 60-1 441whp

     

    At 25psi on a GT42 659whp.

     

     

     

    According to your sig, your some kind of Honda tuner? As a tuner, I feel like I should not be explaining this too you.

  4. as cheap as he can get is a stock t-56. no matter what gm auto trans he buys wont hold it! even with a mild built th350 and a gear vendors he would be double the cost of a used t56

     

    That's Scary. If it wont hold the power, and it looks like most people are saying it wont, it looks like this is not as viable of an option as I thought.

    Colt was 2250lbs empty. Figure 2500 race weight.

     

    I agree its different, and I dont want to spend the $ on a T56 right now- so I was going over my reasonable options.

  6. od in any car is the issue, think about the physics of it. 4th gear top end run youre pushing so much weight against the drive line, when you go into od, you can almost double it! doubling the load against the motor.

     

    think taller tire! or lower rear gearing

     

    with 24.5 tire

    not many use OD at WOT. plus you're doubling the strain on the bottom end,

     

    Im stuck with the gear, Im keeping the IRS-and can only go so large with the tire.

     

    I NEVER had a motor or trans issue any time I was over 180mph, not once. I agree its more strain, but thats what I like to do, its what I need to do. If its not going to like the big end, then its not for me.

  7. od is the weak link in the 700r. i wouldnt put a stock one behind a 400hp v8

    My last motor made 505ft lbs, an that was not turned up.:bangbang: Thats only for a 2500rpm span.

     

     

    I would like the OD to hold up for top end pulls though....

  8. I've used gear calculators when I was setting up the Colt for the standing mile-I crossed 200mph at 7600rpm in 5th gear. I did not realize how much a 1.1 would kill me.

     

    The 700r4 looks like a great option now-

    Pro's/Con's? Is it strong in stock form? And- is the Overdrive really that weak?

  9. never heard a a t350 only gm trans i know of a th350 and 400

    they are both 3 speeds, 400 is much larger and heavyer all around! 400 will take more in stock form, but some easy mods can be done to the th350 to make it comparable and not rob as much horse as the 400.

     

    and depending on rear gearing and tire size

     

    Rear gear? Dont they both have 1.1 finals?

     

     

    Im stuck with a 4.11 rear. Tire size will be around 24.5

  10. all auto trans are basiclly hydro, they are fluid couplers and controlled with hydraulic pressure's and valves

    still a hydro (2 speed). th400 will rob power vs a th350 in stock forms

     

    th400 internals are heavyer and take more power to turn. the glide(2 speed) is for littler cars under 2800 pounds.

     

    i would need more info on weight, power and intended use etc

    Are you telling me a TH400 is a 2 speed? I though it was a 3 speed?

     

    The glide is nice, but with a big turbo you have to spray the bejesus out of it to get it off the line.

    158/158/165 @ less than 10% BF

     

    BF (electronic hand held) was at 7.1, so lets say between 7 and 9%

     

    Just flat benched today since I was sore, only on 2 days off-215x9 225x7 265x3. Did 90x10 dumbells for a warm up. Power is down a bit

     

    No lift, no spot. I didn't trust any of the mongoloids around me, or the girl I brought to spot me. I got hurt pretty bad 2 years ago from a bad spot, still feel it to this day...

     

     

    My honest goal is to get back to 300 Bench clean, no spot, no lift, no "boosters." we will see if my shoulder is up to it.
