Been into them since 2002. When I first got into them it was unheard of for a stock block to run low 10s, high 9s. Today there are full weight (3500+lbs) cars running bottom 9s, soon to be in the 8s.
I've seen them evolve from the DOTC club (drove over the crank) to having girdles keeping the cranks in, to lifting the heads with stock gaskets, to improved gaskets to overcome that, to more boost lifting the heads with good gaskets and now to head clamps.
Years ago I never thought I'd see one in the 8s... looks like it will happen soon enough. Also got to watch the first ever 6 second pass by a Stage II car this year at BG. The "new" car being built by BWR should trump that number by far.
