I just think you're putting blame in the wrong place. Try it on a worthwhile tire and I bet the result is different.
The D208 got decent reviews too, it still doesn't make it worth a shit on a bike making that kind of power.
It's also possible you weren't in the groove. Maybe rubber hadn't been laid down, maybe there was breakage leaking a slick spot that went unnoticed. Trails isn't a bad track. As good as Norwalk? No, but nothing (aside from Bristol) on the East Coast is, so that is a moot point.
