By all means, I guess the context of my post wasn't explained 100%. True, but as I meant with the "poster child" comment, if we had every able bodied young American thinkin like this, we wouldn't have a military. I'm saying this because to be a superpower in this world, you need a strong military. As I know, we do have the greatest military in the world. But, with the advent of actions throughout the world, we are on a decline. Politics gets in the way of war fighting and those on the ground doing so. Got off the real subject, but as I was saying, if all the military ends up getting are the "bottom of the barrel" type cadidates, that doesn't leave us much hope. Like I was also mentioning, the lack of able bodied individuals will weaken us overall. I'm quite a hard headed, stubborn, patriotic, post 9/11 kill em' all type. So I guess my views are somewhat archaic in a way. Personally, I know this terrorism shit won't end, but if I have to stay busy for a portion of my life to insure that future generations don't have to deal with half this shit, I'm all for it. Besides, where else do you get to use the best equipment, free ammo, and you get a little compensation for it.

Might want to set your sights on a 6.8 SPC AR, if you want something in a heavier caliber. Personally, there's plenty more rounds with more of a "kick" than .308. Hell the Barrett M107 that I had in Iraq, barely kicked harder than any bolt gun I've shot in .308.

You gotta tuck her in tight. Got to blast off 200 rounds through our EBR M14 couple weeks ago. You get a lil shoulder mark, but nothing to cry home about. The PTR-91 will probably be just as "brutal" if not maybe a hair stronger to you. Never really noticed it shooting the G3, but that's me.

Combat in Afghanistan and Iraq isn't popular in the world. If US/NATO forces aren't dying, the news don't give a shit. BTW- Don't expect to see something from the US side of this "long distance" kill record for a little while. We like to keep things classified for safety reasons and operational security. I do applaud the Brits for the record though. Helmend is a hell of a place to do it in to boot.

Effective range of a 7.62X51mm 173 grain M118LR ammo is roughly 900 meters. There was a US Army Shooter (SSG Gililand) that took out another "sniper" in Iraq at 1,250 meters. Granted Gunny Hathcock himself had a 7.62mm kill at over 1,900 meters in Vietnam. This is outside the normal operating ranges for the 7.62X51mm NATO round, but in the hands of very well trained, not to mention veteran shooters, it is obtainable. Being in Afghanistan currently, and seeing the terrain at which business is conducted, those ranges are deffinately accurate. I won't go into any specifics or shit like that, but stand off distance is something a shooter utilizes in stalking his target. Both Canada and the U.K have an outstanding sniper program. Granted there have been many long distance shots taken by our own forces, but to be honest, you probably will never hear about them. (There was talk of a young US Army soldier making the longest kill utilizing nothing other than a Barrett M107 Rifle. But again this is talk )

I haven't, but I have shot a German G3, basically what the H&K91/PTR-91 is now. The PTR-91 is made in the US, compared to the H&K91/G3 variant. I guess the company bought all the original tooling equipment to build these rifles in the US. They are heavy in comparison to other autoloading rifles, but I don't think you're headed to combat anytime soon. Other "features" I know about are the sights need a tool to adjust, its recoil is a bit stiff for some, and the charging handle is in an akward position if you have never fired this style of rifle before. I hear stick with JLD for their quality is top notch. Most the H&K equipment should work on it from what I hear, not to mention mags are pretty damn cheap in comparison. My on-going daily debate is, do I want a fun DD, or just a weekend/fun car. That's my problem is deciding on what to do. I say if you find a 4cyl notchback, start from there. It would be worth it.

Just saw the TKO part, that's a good selling point. The fact it's a Notch with a 408W, and a TKO backing it, I'd go atleast $5K. (That's just goin off your info.) But for what he's got into it, it would cost you twice as much to replicate, not to mention the time investment. If it's solid, I'd be on that like a hooker on a dollar.

I personally would use the Aerospace 303 protectant. It'll leave a nice shine on vinyl and plastics, but it also protects it. Over @ Pickups Plus Cars, we used nothing but that product on all the soft vinyl tonneau covers we sold, not to mention on all kinds of plastics.
