  1. We had Insight cable, phone and internet.  Discontinued the cable last month because they kept jacking the price up 10 to 20 every six months.  Now we're only paying like 50 bucks for phone and internet.

Funny thing is, I took the cable that was connected to the cable box and plugged it into the tv.  Now we're still getting all the basic cable channels, just not paying for it?  Wondering if they're going to figure that out and somehow filter out the tv from the internet  :dunno:

  2. I've recently picked up an '03 XB9S and I really like it.  However, I really don't like the low seat.  My nuts get mashed against the front of the dip in the seat and I'm constantly pushing myself back and trying to sit up straighter to get comfortable.

I've found a guy on another forum that will sell me either a regular seat or a City X seat, I'm just not sure which one to get from him.  If there's anyone on here that has a bike like mine with a regular or City X seat I'd really appreciate it if I could meet up and try yours out and see how it feels.  I promise to shower off the ball sweat of the day before hand...

    Anyone?

  3. Where did you see they are Snell approved...I have never seen that.  I was under the impression that only one helmet that was modular that got a Snell approval, the LS2. However I find it rather odd that Snell will approve an open face but not a flip up. How can a flip up be worse than an open face.

I clicked this link Borealis graphic

Down at the bottom under "Standards" they say

    • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT
  4. I see these are Snell and DOT certified.  My biggest concern with modulars has always been the fear that, in a crash, the helmet parts would separate leaving your face unprotected.  I assume that Shoei has addressed concerns like these?  Care to post up any insights?

  5. Completely normal on an 03 Buell XB.  Adjust the clutch per the manual.  Check the adjustment 'shoe,' it's a wear part and could be ready for replacement.

You can use HD trans fluid or motor oil in the trans.  I always used 20w50 in both.

Many thanks.  And yes, since very few of my purchases are ever new, the first thing I do is change fluids and once over everything.  Good to have a baseline.

I swabbed the mag plug off on a fresh shotgun patch, the particles are much smaller than they appeared.  A big "doh!" moment when I remembered basic ed about magnets and lines of flux.  Ever remember the experiment in school with metal filings and a magnet?  (long, long ago for me...)  Yeah, those long metal shavings are really lots of tiny particles lined up on each other.

From the Buell XB forums and from service manual research, I'm running V-twin forumulated 20w50 Mobil 1 in both holes.  Makes life much easier.

Always nice to bounce things off the forum here and have knowledgeable folks chime in.  Plus 1's handed out accordingly.   :metal:

  6. Bought the 03 Buell just before Christmas and other than the test ride and warming it up prior to yesterday's fluid change I've not ridden it.  Bike has 28K on it and is hard to get into neutral, but the clutch needs adjusted pretty badly so I originally dismissed that during the test ride.  HOWEVER, when I drained the trans fluid there was quite a bit of debris on the magnetic drain plug.  I've never seen this before.  PO said that fluids were just recently changed, but you know how you should really trust the word of a PO...   Is there cause for concern here?

  7. The Thunder Roads Magazine Ohio team will be out taking pictures looking for bike to do features on for those who want to show off their ride! New, late model or vintage...bring'em all!

Nice to meet you Conor and some of the other HM staff.  Was also nice to meet the TR Mag folks - should have pulled the VFR up front for a photo op...

Didn't spend much time there since I was on a short leash, but had a look around at some sweet Hondas (NC700X especially).  Let me know when the 2014 Interceptor comes in!
