  1. Yeah, the track was interesting to learn for sure. And the sealer bumps you definitely had to know where not to cross them. I about tucked it in two once and have a few rear spin ups out of three. Started the day at high 1:40s and ended up with a best time of 135.8 about 3 sessions from the end for a new track. Baker was a heck of a tow coach till his tranny blew up :(

Just got worn out from the LED at Grattan Friday, WERA 20 lap solo race Saturday and Gingerman Sunday. Still a good time with Nick and I making it back to my place about 12:30ish.

  2. Good thinking ahead! The weather has now zeroed out for rain with highs in the 60s-70s for Sunday. Just need to get some zip ties and misc stuff and Nick and I are off Thursday for a fun filled weekend!

Had the new tail decaled by Chris Kruzel from the WERA board. Kudos to Nate for the referance! Turned out well imho! :)

  3. Motorcycle Requirements

    6) Advanced and Intermediate group riders must use water, water wetter or a non-ethyl glycol based anti-freeze/coolant. Approved Poly Glycol brands are: Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice. Automotive ethyl glycol based coolants are not allowed.

Regular coolant is allowed for Novice, but if you use Engine Ice....I don't believe you have to mix it with water, ust pour it in. I did this on a few bikes now, and all I did was just drain the regular coolant out and a quick flush with distilled water($1.75? at any grocery) and then filled it up with Engine Ice and did the air bleed process.

  5. From Junkies:

my lower was full of water from Sunday and when I took off it left a nice slick cold puddle or water for his ice cold hard rubber ( 40 degree's out) and he got in the gas like he like's to do, next thing u know him and the bike were a few feet in the air... broke the case, oil all over broke the plastic and the windscreen.
  6. is anybody planning on doing grattan the 14th AND gingerman the 16th?

if so, what are you doing for accommodations? i'd like to do both tracks, maybe i'll save up enough for a hotel room in the area?

I know Nick was thinking of doing that exact thing Nate. I was also considering it and trying a solo on Saturday with WERA for a PN weekend. Then Gingerman on Sunday since I have already paid for it.

Just transportation would be the big thing as I'll also be taking Harb's bike with me also. As for places to stay, hotels are always cheap and we could work something out.

  7. Ever since I started it was a requirements for all classes. I saw a Novice guy come up for the first time on Saturday and they had him silicone those. Takes 30 seconds to do and is a good piece of mind. Personally, I like to safety wire it all and use a clamp around the filter. Even on the street bike.

  8. ^ Good advice there also.

You will need full gauntlet gloves and over the ankle boots. They aren't that expensive if you call the right people. I call TJ over at Riders Discount for about all my stuff as he can beat just about anyone on gear.

As for bike requirements in Novice, you will need to put a bead of Silicone over:

Oil Filler Cap, Drain Bolt, Oil Filter.

You will also need to tape your wheel weights to the rim (Black Duct tape is my personal fav as it blends with black rims) I also use blue painters tape to prevent any gooey residue on the headlights and brake light, then use the black duct tape over that so it looks better and insures the painters tape won't fall off in the high speed.

If later you want to move up in skill level, you will need to change our your coolant from Honda's Hp Coolant (Green) to a poly-glycol (Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice) or Distilled Water+Water Wetter(Which will freeze come winter and need to be changed out to Coolant)

If you're thinking of going those days, post up if anyone else already hasn't and see if you can garage up with them or meet at the track. Most of us that have been there before are pretty helpful and can get you started as to what to expect and so on.

  9. My guess would be different class that was merged into the race Experts+Novices. Track still looks pretty wet from the Rain on Saturday :(

Still, good job to you and Tuna!

    PS.

Nice red flag ending from the guy on the speedway there :( You were all up the experts butt and would have passed him I am sure.

  10. I'm also looking to go those dates, but I'll be holding off till closer to the dates for the weather forecast.

From what I remember, its about like this:

Gates will open at 7 and you sign in at the gate (Waiver form, and get here early)

You and anyone coming with you have to sign a waiver form at the entry gate to get in. Then come into the paddock area and find your spot. You go to the middle garage area far right section and check-in for your tech stickers and get your garage # if you rented one. From there, you unload and begin this process:

    (Confirm this before going)

    7:00-Gates Open

    7:15? Tech Inspect starts

    8:15-Riders meeting

    9:00-Intermediate groups gets on track

    9:20-Advanced Group on Track

    9:40-Novice Group on Track.

After completion of the Riders Meeting, Novice rider's will break off into your classroom session. You will go over the day and on what you will practice on the session you are about to begin. (You will have one of these after each track riding session until just after lunch most likely) Standard groups were about 4-6 students per instructor which will monitor your progress and safety.

The above time frame cycle will repeat all day for the exact 20min intervals. 3 sessions then Lunch, then 4 sessions to end your day. There are on-sight gas pumps if you don't bring or forgot gas cans and a food stand if its open for a few hours around lunch time.

  11. +100000 ^

If you don't know what its like, be careful. Seriously.... I have seen so many guys go down because they thinks its just like a wet street. With the sealant that has been used your tires WILL let go with the wrong twitch of the throttle or to much speed when you begin to lean the bike over. If you do choose to ride the track in rain, 1) be super smooth, 2) Take the corners slow and be ready for the rear end to let go, 3) Pray

    That is all.
