  1. Hey guys, it was great meeting some of you this weekend. Ben, always a pleasure...sorry didn't get to chat with you more (or snag that beer from you)! Bill and Paul, I loved the ride down and back for sure. 201 and 1 were amazing in Kenfucky on the way back so I'm happy I was able to tag along for the ride. My front is done about as bad as Bam's rear tire.
  2. Someone emailed me about what I meant by holliganisms. All sportbikes and supermotos (and the dirty guys too) are welcome whether you prefer to ride twisties, commute, dual-sport, sport tour, stunt, drag race, road race, whatever...all I ask is don't get silly while on the museum property. So no stunting, rev limiters, supermoto backing it in for fun, etc. while at the museum. That's all. The more bikes the merrier so come on out!
  3. Hope to see some of you there tomorrow! We'll be there from Noon - 3pm grilling out and hanging out! 2pm will be the photo. Weather is looking chilly but nice and even if it were to rain, we have plenty of shelter to hang out under. Please no holliganisms otherwise the AMA won't let us do stuff like this again! Please be on your best behavior, this is for our buddy!!! Additionally, if you want to help out Mikey we're accepting donations or for just $20 we're offering food, admission to the museum and a door prize ticket for several prizes we garnered up! Such as: Two tickets to any AMA Superbike event (except Laguna) Two tickets to any AMA Flat Track event Two tickets to any AMA Supercross/Motocross event 2 individual oil changes from Cycle Pro (and anything else that people would like to add to the table) Just look for the blue EZ up by the front of the museum if you're wanting to check us out (Robert should be manning the booth). There you'll be able to donate and/or sign our GET WELL poster for Mikey. We'll have people guiding you were to park if you're planning to be in the photo, so look out for someone waving at you or just look around for where everyone is parking their bikes. As a photographer, there is always a method to the madness of trying to get a good shot. If you're not able to come but would like to donate to help Mikey, please PayPal me (Stephani McIntyre) at smcintyre219@yahoo.com or you can also PM me for the family address to send a donation by mail.
  4. Oh, I didn't realize I didn't post that. I did on CORE...whoops. We'll be there from noon until 3pm so getting there early, hanging out and what not would be great. I'll be there from set-up to tear down so we'll see you there.
  5. The $20 is if you want to donate to Mikey and get the food, entry to the museum and a door prize ticket. The photo is free and open for anyone who would like to be in it. Angrish, your sportmoto is fine.
  6. DATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH GROUP PHOTO: 2pm LOCATION: Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum (AMA Museum) 13515 Yarmouth Dr, Pickerington, OH 43147 This is for my friend Mikey, a riding brother (aka mikeydread or for description purposes tall goofy Jamaican on a green ZX7R and yellow DRZ supermoto) who is in the hospital from an accident on September 30th riding in WV. Although no one witnessed the accident because he had gone ahead of the group, they believe he low-sided on his supermoto and slid into a guardrail. Even though he was wearing his full one-piece leathers, gloves, boots and helmet it would be a head injury that would be most threatening to his future. On my visit to him recently in the hospital where he is undergoing rehab he's requested photos...lots of them. So I want to do one better and create the biggest sportbike/supermoto photo I can. This is my call out to you all who ride sportbikes and supermotos to come and just be in the photo (what else ya gonna do now that the winter is forthcoming). I've actually been wanting to do this for a long time anyways and this just solidifies the need for an awesome photo like this. If you ride track only, put your bike in the bed of your truck (or whatever) and head down there anyways. We'll also be doing a cook-out fund raiser (rain or shine) where $20 will get you food, admission to the museum and a door prize ticket for the prizes we are trying to drum up between now and then! Hope to see you there and if for nothing else other than creating a kick ass photo! Photo of my (our) friend Mikey!
  7. I was there. In garage #19. I was one of the slow ones in the "A" group but I did start riding consistently under 1:50 mostly in the :48s and :49s most of the time with my best at a 1:47.74 which I was happy about! Poor Tera didn't have such a great time and broke her collar bone after a crash trying to get around someone going into turn one. Totally sucked. Her bike faired well but she spent the rest of the day in the hospital. Get well soon girl!
  8. Haha! I swear you boys and your dirty minds!
  9. Yeah, we figured that was you guys that passed us at that gas station on 377. We were with the C.O.R.E. group that started in Zanesville. Good to see you all wearing gear...well most of it. Saw a few jeans in there but we had some with us too so it's better than nothing. Glad to see you weren't that sportbike squid group we saw of about 10 or so with not a single one of them wearing a helmet. Crazy! Anyways, hope you all had fun on your ride and I know that Mexican joint and hope it wasn't as painful of a ride home for you guys as it was for me when I ate there a couple months ago. LOL Not to change the subject but I read this thread from start to finish and I have to admit how disappointed I was to "feel" the ego that was displayed by the initial invitation and in a lot of the responses I read by more than one. I know I don't participate in here much and have never been on a ride with you all but I had hoped to someday. I must admit however, as an outsider looking in, this thread turned me off and when that feeling didn't turn around it made me not want to ride with you guys at all even though I'm sure some of you are just fine and fun. This was not meant to offend anyone at all, far from it as I really like that this site exists and what Satan is working towards with it, I just wanted to let you see what I saw if you're hoping to attract more riders to participate and give you a try. Just something to think for future ride posts from a veteran of the SE Ohio twisties and riding in groups.
  10. AMA RACERS AUTOGRAPH RAFFLE SCOOTER FOR A CAUSE For just $5 it can make a perfect pit bike or inexpensive mode of transportation Reynoldsburg, Ohio (August 16, 2007) - As part of the Women's Sportbike Rally slated for next weekend, August 24-26, in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, a scooter will be raffled off with all the proceeds being donated to the Tiffany Weirbach "Sportbikegirl" Melanoma Foundation. Winner does not need to be present. The TGB Laser R5 49cc 2-stroke scooter, donated by Cobra Powersports of Georgia, was seen zipping around the AMA paddock at the Mid-Ohio AMA Superbike round, August 3, seeking autographs from the nations top road racers. We were met with great support from the racers who took a moment of their time to sign the little machine. Riders such as all the Hayden's including Nicky who was in town watching his brothers, Ben and Eric Bostrom, Mat Mladin, Kevin Schwantz, Josh Hayes, Jamie Hacking and more. Tickets are a mere $5 for one or $20 for five and you need not be present to win. This unique scooter will make a great addition to any home whether it will be used for transportation to save gas or your pit bike at the race track. The drawing will take place on the evening of Saturday, August 25 and the winner will be notified by phone if not present. All tickets must be purchased no later than Friday, August 24. 11. LOL!!!! shittygsxr, I know and I understand what you guys were saying about don't believe everything you see on the internet. I am one of those people who needs proof before I'll believe something. In this case, however, I have known Ron & Nancy who own Tail of the Dragon personally for over four years now. You can go down to the Dragon visit their booth and say "Stephani from Ohio sent me" and they'll know who you're talking about and you don't even need my last name. That is why I know the video is authentic. Yes, it's not a continuous feed but that is because the Dragon is 11 miles long and no one wants to watch a video at 30mph of it. They were just trying to point out the overkill for 11 miles of road which is what they did with that video. I do think that is a good point about agencies possibly posting false information to ward off visitors. I still don't believe it is the right solution to the problem though. Working with us instead of against us is why so many people are up-in-arms when there are many alternatives to how they could be dealing with it. Rod, that would be great if you were down there the weekend I am there. I think we should just ride up to the boarder from the Crossroads and turn around and come back over and over again not crossing into Tennessee...that might be fun(ny) watching the cops watch us not being able to do anything about it! Plus, it's 55 of that side of the road. Woot!
  12. It's a long shot, I know, but I was hoping there might be someone that would let me borrow a trailer that could hold two sportbikes and a scooter. The dates needed are to pick up after work on August 21 and return in the afternoon on Wednesday the 29th. PM me if you could help me out!
  13. I guess that was pretty bad and unlike something I'd say. *blushes*
  14. Whether you believe it or not it's happening and that video is real. Tail of the Dragon (who produced that video) is a highly regarded company and advocate of the area. Trying to educate the public while keeping riders informed of what is going on is what they do because their business is based on tourism. Deals Gap is a huge motorcycle tourist destination. Tens of thousands of riders and cars frequent the area annually and hold rallies every weekend down there. Myself included. It's ugly down there (read www.dealsgap.com, www.killboy.com and www.tailofthedragon.com for everything going on) and I'm sad by this because my Women's Sportbike Rally is in two weeks down there. I've taken everything pertaining to the rally out of Tennessee. It's a bummer but thankfully there are tons of other roads to ride in the region and we can play on the Dragon when the cops are done for the day. Plenty of riding to be had after 7pm. It'll be interesting to see how many women get tickets that weekend. No crying to get out of it this time I presume. LOL
  15. Stop by the Women's Sportbike Rally booth and say Hi to me! I've never worked a booth before and it will be crazy because I'm used to running around like a social butterfly at the races! Being in one place, easy to find will be a weird change for me. Hey Ben, this might be a good time to chat! LOL I should be there all day Saturday and Sunday sweating my ass off. It's supposed to be a scorcher of a weekend. I'm bringing my squirt guns to offer a little "cool down" for passerbys! Nothing like getting someone's attention than by a cold blast of water! Think anyone will mind? :D Hank. I got your VM. Sorry I didn't get a chance to call you back. I bet if you put an EZup or something on the infield but in with the trees and stuff you'd be fine. On the grass where people watch though I doubt it. Overlooking Thunder Valley is where a lot of people park and put up shade since it's out of the way mostly. Hope to see you. I'll be up there tomorrow getting the scooter signed by the racers and setting up my booth! Have fun everyone!
  16. That's good Ben. My only comment would be to make the cards possible to write on no high gloss or anything. I know when I get a biz card I like to be able to make notes on it to help me remember things. In this case the person receiving the card might want to write the person's screen name they got it from...or something like that. Just a thought!
  17. Maybe next year! And fo sho on the photos. I'll be a photo after it's over. Man I love riding Deals Gap almost as much as guys. It's a toss up!
