Thanks, man. It was a fun weekend. Between demo rides, setting up our area and racing for the weekend, I am a bit tuckered out... The times were OK. Just really wanted to get to the point early and maintain. Watched the guy in second both races and just wanted to ride with enough in reserve that if I ever heard him, I could run faster. Never got any pressure and it was an easy enough set of races. I will say and hope this doesn't sound like a sales pitch, but the RC8R RS was really good. Considering we never put the thinner head gaskets in, never did any available cam timing, etc and had probably AT LEAST 20 hp down on the guy with the Duc, the bike showed what can be done with something right out of the crate. I literally added clip-ons (cost savings), brake lever adjuster, and front fork 25 mm cartridges. That's it. And, we chased the front all weekend and was never happy with it... I really need to thank the guys at KTM for allowing me the time needed in between to race, I need to thank Les from Dunlop for helping me on tire set-up and for WERA for dealing with some seriously tough weather concerns. The AMA put on a great show of course and everything was seriously smooth and ran well...

2011 KTM 350 SXF and 2010 Husaberg FX450 for sale
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in LBTS GLWS
Both are sold, sorry. -
Already mentioned it in the other thread... They are there for sure. HMC is based out of WI, by the way... We want to do three rounds and it was budgeted to do so... Laguna made sense.
-
If you own a bike that is shit handling, you tend to adapt to it well enough that if your ability ALLOWS, it will handle as well as other more better handling machines... Point is that a CB350 may actually handle like shit, but if the rider is good enough, he can make it look better than it is... I say we discuss sportbikes that are from 1986 until now to narrow it down and avoid the HD comments and such. I vote Kawasaki ZX-6 E. Baby ZX10 if you remember. Handled like a shit ball... Close second? 1995 YZF600 first generation in that beautiful blue with purple rims... turd. Both in OEM trim were shit. In race trim, BARELY any better...

Demo rides for KTM at the AMA Vintage weekend!
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Daily Ride
It will be tough to compare on the route. If you want a true test, you really need to sign up for Thursday and ride in one of our Race Orange events on the track. They are also two very different machines... -
Demo rides for KTM at the AMA Vintage weekend!
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Daily Ride
If you have the talent to actually take our lead guy out, you deserve to lead them through single track... I'd say if you can tumble an ex-multi Black Water champion rider, you have some skills. I suspect that he'll be back just as he left. -
Understand the rules. People with $500 cars are most likely capable of dealing on said price. I also have access to a pile of steel tubing and parts that are sitting for free and therefore will not count against the price of the car... Trust me, we understand the rules...
-
I need a car for around $500 that would be a good candidate for the 24 hours of LeMons... Show me whatcha got! Like the Rabbits, RX7s, BMWs, etc... Don't offer a Lebaron Convertible or your old Caprice...

Demo rides for KTM at the AMA Vintage weekend!
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Daily Ride
Cool! Yup, will pass on practice on Friday and will be racing Sat/Sun! -
Hope this is cool to post - similar to our MX demo I posted for this past weekend... At the AMA Vintage weekend, we will be having street demos available to ride for KTM. We will have the following: 2011 Adventure Standard 2011 Adventure Dakar 2011 Adventure R 2011 990 SMT 2011 990 SMR 2011 690 Enduro 2011 RC8R Multiple bikes of certain models also so we can have a decent size group when we go out. The loop last year was pretty good and was about 25 minutes or so long. Pretty fun. We will be in the middle paddock and I suggest if interested, you come early each day to sign up. Sign ups start at 9am and when they open the middle paddock gates, it is like the day after Thanksgiving as people rush the tents to sign up with each manufacturer... You must be 21 years old and have a valid motorcycle endorsement. We will only sign up Friday's rides on Friday, Sat on Sat, Sun on Sun. Meaning, nobody can sign up for Sunday on Saturday kind of deal... Look for the big orange semi and come over to test ride our bikes! We usually have some really cool things for filling out our questionnaire - Dunlop certs, DC shoes certs, Skull Candy certs, SPY glasses certs, etc... Hope to see ya this weekend!!

Just watch it. Under load, the spilt can get worse. If you are somewhat aggressive of a rider, that type of slit can get bad fast. On the track, that would be cause to be replaced... Street shouldn't be a huge issue, but take a peek and watch over it...

Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in LBTS GLWS
UPDATED SOME PRICES! I need to liquidate as soon as I can. NTec slicks ain't cheap!! I WILL BE AT THE AMA VINTAGE RACES FROM THIS THURSDAY UNTIL THE MONDAY AFTER! I can bring whatever you want/need. I have had people line up giving money to a buddy that is coming and getting the tires that way. Whatever we need to do, I can assist. Here's the updated prices in case you didn't catch the edited 1st post... QTY (1) Power One front and QTY (1) Power One rear - UPDATED PRICE - $275 QTY (1) Power One front and QTY (1) Power Race rear - UPDATED PRICE - $200 QTY (1) Power One front and QTY (1) Power One rear and QTY (1) Power Race - UPDATED PRICE - $275 QTY (1) Power One front and QTY (2) Power Race rears - UPDATED PRICE - $260 There may be different deals based on QTY you buy also... Want them all? I will make you a SMOKIN deal... USED TAKE-OFFS: QTY (3) Power One "V" Fronts. Low use - still shows wear marks. QTY (1) Power One "B" Rear. Medium Compound. EXCELLENT shape and wear marks still showing. QTY (2) Power One "C" Rears. Harder compound for longer life. Wear marks still showing. QTY (1) Power Race "E" Rear. BEAUTIFUL SHAPE!! I was thinking that since the tires are almost set to set, do the following: QTY (1) Power One "V" front with QTY (1) Power One "C" rear - UPDATED PRICE - $125 QTY (1) Power One "V" front with QTY (1) Power One "B" rear and QTY (1) Power Race "E" rear - UPDATED PRICE - $150 That would equal out to (3) available sets... -
Not to be a dick, but if you call a 17 second gap "on the ass" of the guy in front of you, we have a different idea of close...

The basis was longer in terms of testing as it is an IDM based machine. That being said, Chris literally had two days of testing on the newest bike that is a completely different beast than what he raced last season. Plus, adding the electronics and different suspension than what they are used to, I think he deserves credit for the accomplishment as well as Mitch and his team for being able to adjust on the fly... As for the Buell, the idea is that BOTH teams were on new machines. The fact that they can BOTH come to play in a field that has been running 3/4 of a season and do as well is saying something. Chris would have gotten Pegram if he had one more lap. Considering he was 10 MPH down on top speed and the fact that again, new bike to Larry, but with the factory support and the fact he has had 3/4 a season to get used to it, Fillmore was on his ass at the line. My feelings are that the team has some work to do. They are having to adapt to the process of getting parts from Austria and the logistics involved that make it different than what they are doing over there. For example, they needed different springs for the front, but didn't have any. They are at times rolling dice as they have no notes to work off with exception to IDM notes and let's face it, those tracks are different in a bunch of ways as well as maybe even the talent not as good as over here... Taking Buell when they have NOTHING to really go off, they are definitely working on the fly also. Again, kudos to both teams. It's great to see that the smaller guys are coming to play when the big guys are tapped out (Honda/Kawasaki) and missing some names that SHOULD be here (Ducati/Aprillia), etc... Good luck to both. KTM for obvious reasons and to Buell as what HD did to that guy, I want to see him succeed.

We will be doing Laguna since VIR has been dropped...

Most will be going on Sunday. There is the KTM demo day and there will be prizes and other things going on that Sunday also... Plus, looks like rain tomorrow.

Yup, one of the best bikes I have had the pleasure of riding. It handles like a 600 and the grunt out of the turns is silly. The sound... Well, ask anyone that has been at the track while we have had them there and they will tell you better than me. I personally think it is one of the best sounding bikes in a long time. Only 20 made for the US market and at the end of the season, I know a guy that will most likely have a demo for sale! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Of course, the HMC Superbike was pure sex also... It is the same platform with some changes. OK, changes we can never ever afford, but at least it looks similar!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us

No way, dude. a 6x10 with tandem axles is overkill and probably means it has shit axles to compensate. The 6x12 Ben is advertising is MORE than capable of hauling more weight than 2-3 motorcycles. I have a 6x12 US Cargo and it was bullet proof. This is a great deal for someone. Biggest thing is the tires which seem to be new and the axles if they are torsion. If torsion, just checking them for wear is something you want to do, but torsion on a single axle is the shiznit when hauling stuff...
-
Up side is they should be rather cheap today. They handle rather well considering and was a favorite of mine back when they were out. I really liked the ZX12 a bunch, but couldn't get around the horrible looks. I feel the CCT mentioned is a big deal and was at that time for nearly all Honda sportbikes. HATE the linked braking. Total trash. Heavy, but as a sport tourer, it works great. Not the fastest thing anymore, but understand that the newer sport tourers like Busas and the Kawasaki, they have a more modern chassis and will handle SLIGHTLY better. Not by much though. My opinion is the price will outweigh what those newer bikes offer. The design is classy and if you get a good one, they will stand the test of time in regards to looks.

Looking for some yard equipment. Whatcha got?
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Other Stuff
Great info! Trying to learn the ins and outs. The biggest issue is waiting for our one house to sell and the budget will be tight. Unless someone wants to trade a barely used GSXR1000 AMA caliber race bike towards a tractor or skid loader! -
Looking for some yard equipment. Whatcha got?
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Other Stuff
Not really building a track. Maybe grooming a trail is a better descriptor... I really need something that can fine cut a yard and plow snow... Looking at at least 3 acres to mow and a long driveway... -
Who got some pics?
-
Looking for the following: -Zero turn mower. Big deck for mowing larger acreage. -Possibly a smaller tractor that has a loader and mower deck to do the same thing, but getting the loader may help with dirt moving and driveway cleaning when it snows. -Skid loader. We are looking to move and the house we are looking at has a huge yard and a long driveway. I also have some decent woods I want to cut a trail in. I need to move dirt and push snow so, I would really like a do it all machine, but am not sure... Shoot me what you have and I will look it all over...

Typically, with WERA (They ran the RRGC last season and the Vintage series at Mid-Ohio, they charge a renatl fee. I think it is something like $50? Dunno... They aren't USUALLY free... Get on www.wera.com and ask the question or rather, do a search and see if you can find the answer. But, they use the AMB system to score bikes...

KTM MX demo event at Briar Cliff July 17th...
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Play in the Dirt
Yeah, I was wanting it to be Saturday, but this is where it landed... I am totally bummed. I bought a Moto Series license and have only used it one round.
