But that's the thing - his warranty ISN'T out and if the dealer does a shit job at getting Kawasaki to fix it, he's up the creek. He isn't going to get a 2008. He certainly isn't going to get money ON TOP of a new 2008. They'll send him a new motor before they do anything. Plus, the issue now is they will most likely investigate the bike's warranty issues. I'm really amazed they haven't already. If the same bike is in service 9 times for either related or non related reasons, they typically send a service rep out and investigate. Again, I think lack of communication from the dealer prevented that from occurring. Plus, what the dealer may have stated to Kawasaki could be an issue. I think the guy is over reacting a bit and went to the wrong dealer... Kawasaki is one of the BEST OEMs to deal with. They even call owners personally to say "sorry" about any issues that sometimes occur. They are one of the smallest OEMs and therefore one of the most personal...

What is this "cam" issue you speak of? Been around a LOT of guys racing these 6s and nothing of the sort has been raised about cams. The bottom ends, yes, but for racers, they lossen them up and they last forever... No issues on cams... Care to elaborate?

Tim is a GREAT guy, has ton of experience and works HARD for his shops. Again, it is more of a dealer issue than anything. From what I've heard, that shop isn't doing the greatest anyways and thus, the service they get may be reflected in that...

Wow, you're pretty jadded, huh? First of all, depending on how the DEALER handles it, Kawasaki is probably one of the BEST companies to work with. I came from a dealership of 6 years and while racing for Kawasaki, I warrantied many an item that should have NEVER been warrantied. Just recently, my buddy's KX450 developed a crack in the case above the kick starter. The dealer we took it to did a good job of talking with Kaw and Kaw did the job, paid for parts AND labor and put it under what they call "good faith". They were great, he got his bike back in under 2 weeks and considering MX bikes have ZERO warranty implied or stated, that's saying something... As far as a lemon law deal, you really need to explain more detail. Most the time, it is concerning the same issue or related issues in at least three different instances. Your dealer did a shit job of assisting you on this. However, it very well could have been a deal where it was neglect or abuse. From the sounds of it "Stomping down on the shifter", you were a bit abusive to teh bike. Frustration or not, that isn't a way to do it. I'd be amazed if they'd give you a 2008 and cash. I'd think they'd do a motor swap before anything. These aren't cars and aren't considered as important - bikes are pure hobby based machines. We all need cars in today's world to get back and forth to school, work, etc. Bikes are not in that class... Keep us posted, but I'd doubt that much happens - or, at least what you're hoping for. Plus, with lawyer fees, etc., you'll be lucky to get anything positive from it. I'd go after the dealer since they worked on it 9 times and seemingly couldn't resolve it. You get what you pay for...
  5. SOOOOOO.... The pitbike wars shall begin. Got my eyes on a Zuma with an 88 kit.... Leo pipe, etc.... Hmmmmmmm.... Might push me over Drew. I may have to buy it now.... Oh, it's got knobbies - we can go off road at the Mid-O MX track!!!!
  6. I'm not good enough for a 250F... To get those things running quick, ya gotta have skilz. Now for Supermoto, I'd be game... I'd love to get back at doing that again...
  7. Flounder- Call me... As far as 2 strokes go, feathering the clutch is needed. Even on the 250Fs like Drew has. Of course, this is from experienced riders. Feathering and slipping the clutch out of corners to keep the revs high on a 250 takes some skill. By the way, that 250F Drew is selling ain't got shit for the Jog. She's green and got a mean 50 two stroke on 'er. She's always willing to go WHEREVER need be.... Looks good, Drew. Gonna get another one or solely street stuff? I've been looking, but I'm not good enough for a 250F.... I am lazy and need a 450...
  8. Uh, DON'T modify teh airbox... No racers do such things in SS classes and VERY few do anything in even SB classes. Leave them alone. PAIR valve mod, maybe, but for the most part, even the stock airfilter is good to go. Run a PC ONLY if you have an exhaust. Otherwise, waste of time in stock form. However, not a complete waste as many of the bikes are set to be safe as far as fuel mistures and you can modify that mixture with a PC and get a little more out of the bike... A 520 chain conversion isn't going to be felt. One down up front, sure out of the gate, but really, not a lot. Rotation mass isn't going to be felt as much as say, you dropping coin and doing a set of mag wheels... These guys that say they can feel a 520 conversion are full of shit... Buy an exhaust and PC. DYNO the bike BEFORE you do anything. Slap on the exhaust and PC and have someone who knows what they are doing map your bike. You'll get more than a $150 chain conversion...
  9. Best mod for a 2007 GSXR1000? Yourself. Why slap on another 10-20 hp if you can't ride it?
  10. I was being sarcastic and stating that it goes faster than a few tenths like the guy I was quoting stated... 600s today are fast. They get to their top speed quick and can be a handful in the wrong hands. Too many street guys "think" they can master a 600 and go up to liter bikes because they feel they "need" the extra power and such. They're obviously wrong... We see so many liter bikes at our track days that outside the back straight, are over 10 seconds slower than an average rider on a 600... Point is that the whole topic here is kinda opinionated by guys who I guarantee aren't as good with their machines as they feel they are... Start small (SV, 500, etc.), move up GRADUALLY and you'll find that you'll be better off than the guy who buys a 600 and has no business doing so... This whole "You'll be too bored" is a response from guys who are most likely unable to tap into 50% of their own bike's ability...
  11. Is this the guy who has had some issues with some of the WERA peeps? I've seen some of the prices on his crashed bikes and a little 411... -Make a trip to see these things - guy isn't going to know shit if the frame is bent or not. -Talk with a few other racers that are at the top area of the food chain. Most don't buy from a salvage dealer - they go through someone they know that can bid on bikes and get them cheaper than these guys sell them for... -There are a few websites out there where you the general public can bid on wrecked bikes. I will try and find a few and post later. -Personally, these guys are the reason why you cannot get a wrecked bike from a dealer anymore... Insurance companies go right to these salvage guys and the salvage guys give pretty decent money for them when they really don't know much other than color and bike size, brand, etc... You're lucky to get a salvaged bike for 1/2 of retail... Sounds like a deal until you find out it needs a frame, wheels and forks...
  12. It's bullshit and junk. You'd gain more by taking a really big poop and running the bike than plugging that in... It's cheap enough, though that you ought to buy it and Dyno the bike with and without it on to see the real numbers. Buy a PC and do it right...
  13. I can order stuff, though... PM me with this stuff - the thread is kinda full of jumbled stuff if anyone is actually interested in any of the things I'm sellin'....

  17. List updated - Busa sliders are gone. NOTE: All undertails are heading to ebay. I've had only one interested person so, if you need/want one, make an offer or they are heading to the ebay store... They'll certainly fetch better prices than I am willing to sell for here. Make an offer...
  18. Only way to tell if it is straight is to get it to GMD or similar. If it shakes when you ride it, it isn't likely a frame issue - probably steering head bearings, wheel, rotors, etc... Lift the front by use of a front stand that holds at the triple's bottom and push and pull by grabbing the base of the front wheel and see if it "jiggles" or is loose. If it is, steering head bearings... If they are good, and it still shakes, check the trueness of teh front wheel. Don't have a trueing stand? Use the front axle without the calipers on it and you can do a "quick" check... Basically, they were pretty bullet proof. By the looks of it, it most likely NEVER had frame issues from that slow of a low side. Wheel, maybe... I really doubt it, though. Offer $3200 and quit worrying about these guys saying it isn't worth more than $3k. If it is a clear title, it is worth $3200 easy... I also have an older Yosh box where we can burn a good map on the stock ECU w/o you having to buy a Power Commander or such. The 03 and older GSXRs can be mapped with teh Yosh box... I can do it cheap - FREE...
  19. I thought you wanted to keep it streetable.... The way to get a license is really easy. Check out www.wera.com If you've done extensive track days, you know where you need to be ability-wise. You can enter the Team Chicago school at Grattan for free and be able to qualify to get a WERA license. You can also do teh STT Pro days and get the same thing. Cost is what you make of it. The actual license costs are $100, I think. It is what Fasttrax charges, I know, but I am a lifetime member with WERA and haven't had to renew/buy a license for a while... To prep a bike for racing, it is extensive and you'll not really have an easy time if you want to switch back and forth from street to track. BUY MY 750.... It's faster than Chris's 1000!!!
  20. Well, if you don't mind running different tires, I might be able to pursuade either Reuben to ride or at least Agnes... Mike's moving to Texas so, he'll be out... I know we could do 14s easily since we've had a few other shots at racing there. I bet faster if we could have a full day of practice before the race, but that ain't gonna happen... Let me know. Don't be teasing like that...
  21. $1k in chain and sprockets and regular maintaining? Dude, he got taken... By the way, regular service will not inspect the valves or chain tensioner. They say they do, but they don't. Trust me... You can check teh tensioner, but I'd get him to buy a new one. They're cheap.
  22. I'd buy a full system, man. The stock headers are shit on those and you might as well go the right direction. You'd need a PC, though. Maybe just do a slip-on. Buy an Arrow or Leo or similar. You can find them on Ebay in used condition pretty cheap or even new at a deal. Stay away from: -D&D -Two Brothers -Vance and Hines -Muzzy -Yosh - unless a race system in Ti or similar - otherwise, they are stamped out and the same shit quality as the D&D... You might be able to find killer race systems off www.wera.com for those years of GSXR. The M4 race systems are pretty good - especially if it is off one of teh actual AMA bikes... Otherwise, avoid the top list and you'll be good.
  23. Oh, yeah... What the hell is he going to have inspected? Valves? Cam Chain Tensioner? What? I'd tell him to throw in new plugs, make sure the drive chain is good, have him take it to a LEGIT shop to have the valves checked, cam chain tensioner checked (Known to go bad) and go from there. Otherwise, if he takes it to a shop, they'll look it over, check the oil level, chain tension on the drive chain, check the battery and call it good. Dealer service guys will NOT go deep into the bike unless he forks over $70-$80 per hour...
