  1. Are you referring to the 950 Adventures? Cause the 990s are bullet proof... I know from first hand experience and can attest that what we've put them through, we've never had a failure... The 950s had some issues, though... Hard to work on is a bit true, though on both.
  2. Mad- The thoughts you have are pretty much normal, man. Trust me, there are times when you evaluate things when such incidents like this happen. I have unfortunately seen first hand, a friend pass right before our eyes and a few other friends pass at the track. It is probably a cold thing to say, but it is part of the game we play. Yes, racing is a lot different than track days, but the reality is that anything to do with motorcycles is dangerous. Everything from play riding in the woods to full blow AMA Superbike racing. It's all dangerous and is never going to be anything less. As far as track days go, remember that your odds are increased so dramatically while on the street. The variables are so much greater and that leads to a higher risk of death than you'll see at the track. You cannot shelter yourself in a bubble. You can literally be killed waiting at a stop light on a low traveled road on a clear and sunny day... Or, as some say, doing the most normal and repetitious thing you do every single day that has zero to do with motorcycles... The way to view this is to ask yourself if she enjoyed doing what she was doing. If you can answer "yes" to that, understand that she most likely would not want any of us to stop doing the same thing. It doesn't matter if you are a play rider or a full on race professional. Accidents as trivial as what Lenz had happen to catastrophic things like hitting a barrier that was not protected by airfence in the impact zone of a race happen all the time. I've seen people carted off in an ambulance at the track from heat exhaustion and they were only spectators... As for the family concern... Well, you know my deal. Again, not to be cold and heartless, but when the shield goes down, it all gets forgotten. Nothing matters other than the track and the bike. Anything like family is simply a distraction and will raise the level of danger even further. It has to be put out of your mind and allow yourself to think and focus on what matters at that very moment. I didn't know Tasha. However, I have been in this same situation numerous times. My heart goes out to those she left behind and know that she would have chosen to do the exact same thing again had she had a chance to do it all over... RIP and Godspeed.
  3. That's pretty old school thinking... We are 83% of the off road market and we are pushing to increase within the MX/SX market. This is the first win for KTM in the SX series... We won EVERY off road series we ran in 2011. Clean sweep for "unreliable" bikes...
  4. AWESOME!!! Great to be a part of history at KTM! We have been pushing and pushing and the brand has done some amazing things as of late. Tonight is just another step to satisfying the goals we have! Congrats, Ryan!!!
  5. See? You can actually offer something of value! I'm somewhat proud of you! And, you don't have to blame your ignorance on a smart phone that most likely (unless it is from pre-1990) has spell check. As for the anal prolapse, doctor mentioned rubbing will help the swelling. You free later?
  6. Dude, tell me about it. I was heart broken when management told me. I was actually floored... But, things happen for a reason and so, I think we will be back when the time is right. However, not sure when that time will be. In the meantime, I will root for Danny as he is a blast to watch. I just cross my fingers that he will grow up a little and treat the things he is given with a little more respect.
  7. I agree. It was totally my bad to trust a guy that stated they were 9 out of 10. I really should have asked for pics. I honestly am usually very thorough and would typically ask for them. Don't know if I had a brain fart or what, but you are correct - lesson learned.
  8. Riiiiiiight... Let's share what's really at the core here. I get your PM and you tell me what is bothering you. Yes, folks... He is bitter over the thread posted here: http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=82256&page=5&highlight=smirth+system Now, not sure where I do any third grade stuff and use name calling and things like that. I'd say that a post from over 3 months ago is hilarious. And, if you think what I stated was "third grade shit", you are simply upset and that's the best retort you can come up with. As I mentioned in my PM response, the issue is that some people hate to hear the truth or hate to hear anything that is contrary to their thought process. Thus, they get pissed and upset. I'm all for learning new things and even accept being wrong when shown to be. However, the idea that healthy debate means two people can have different views and have a nice debate to see what is really correct. The difference here is that if you can prove me wrong or show my thoughts are not the best, I can be a man and admit I was wrong or compliment on you being correct. I've done it hundreds of times. The great thing about debates and people that MAKE YOU PROVE YOUR POINT is that if they do and they are correct, I actually am learning something. Yes, Forrest, you can actually learn something when you initially were thinking the opposite... In your case, you think that I am an asshole simply because I comment contrary to your beliefs. I have my points of view, but instead of being civil and making a realistic point of view, you belittle or make snide comments about what was going on. When myself and literally several others comment against what you stated, you get pissed. I just so happen to be a bit more vocal and colorful in my responses and so, you got butt hurt, let it build inside and come at me with a vengeance and cannot let go. Just like I mentioned earlier and in the other thread... Hell, dude... I didn't even remember that thread or the comments. Just like Bad was saying in his post agreeing with me. If I took every little thing and harvested it away and let it build, I would explode. You gotta get over shit, dude...
  9. Nothing factory supported. Privateers possible as we have the RS model that was what Chris was running (was based off this). However, unless they have the funds and access to the things Mitch had and ourselves, they will not be front runners.
  10. We do have a serious interest. Otherwise, we wouldn't have started what we did with HMC last season. However, that being said, the series requires sponsorship for each and every team. We needed a big sponsor/supporter and that fell through. So, we are not running the series at this stage unless something changes.
  11. I agree with this. Danny will shine on the bike. He has the experience even though this is a new bike, the baseline is similar. The issue is that Danny is heading down a slippery slope if he doesn't clean up his act. His antics are what landed him from a possible great ride to a hand me down seat. It isn't terrible, but the fact is that a Suzuki SB seat is what he should have been up for and he got shunned due to being dumb...
  12. Dude, please do tell where I started anything against you. I think the bottom line is that you are a guy that gets all butt hurt over little issues online and feel that the real world is hidden within you computer screen. If you just don't like me, that's totally cool. I don't care. But, your 3rd grade attitude and little blurbs of nonsense is getting tiresome and apparently to others. And, about finishing it... Not sure you finished anything other than showing you have almost zero to add...
  13. Dude, by all means, please introduce yourself sometime so we can iron out just what you are so butt hurt about. Please.
  14. He took over 3 weeks to deliver them and at this stage of back and forth, we are past the 45 days...
  15. PayPal, but I heard that unless bought through Ebay, it is pretty tough to get anything accomplished. Plus, I'd still have to send them back and as CMH mentioned, "hope like hell"... It's not the money, but rather the principal. Plus, I now have to wait and find another set...
  16. So, I needed a set of black bumper wings for my FJ to replace one that was dented from hitting a small deer. They are from the Toyota TT series of FJs and are somewhat hard to come by. Guy advertises a set on the FJ Cruisers forums and I set it up to buy them. Here's where I fudged up. I didn't ask for pics. I know what they are and they were legit TT wings. I didn't ask because the guy stated they were "9 out of 10" in terms of condition. I asked about knicks and scratches, etc. He mentioned they were like new... The guy took 3 weeks to deliver them as he forgot to ship them due to work issues, etc. I was needing them and all the while, nothing else ever popped up... Well... I get the things and they are about a 4 out of 5. Mine have 50k on them and are in better shape outside the dent. Chips, scratches, etc... So, I am pissed. I PM the guy and he states that he'd give me $15 back or send them to him and once he gets them, he'd refund my money. Well, the guy is either an idiot or dishonest as the description wasn't even close. Do I send them back and wait/hope he refunds or do I do something else? $15?? I paid $70 for the set. I could probably get $40 for them as they sit... Just never been burned over the years and not sure what to do. I really hate to send them back with the track record from the guy up until now.
  17. Well, that is something to consider. The idea is that if you are running 29s at Nelson, I tend to agree with Craig and Nick. It's not a slam by any means as we all start at some point and work our way up. Unless you are a superstar like Jake Lewis, etc... If a certain item gives you confidence, RUN THAT ITEM! If it is a barrier that can be eliminated, run that item. My feelings are somewhat 50/50 on that idea as I think with good instruction, you can learn more from a tire that will reach limits to learn from. If you understand the difference in a tire spinning vs squirming under load (A lot of guys think they are spinning the rear and they are not), you can then learn more and more and progress. If the race tire you are running doesnt do that, when it does after getting faster, it is an "Oh shit!" moment. However, the other side to that is that the race tires are going to take longer to come in and you SHOULD have those situations to a degree at the start of the sessions. It's either way, but my feelings are that hurdles are usually mental and if that can be reduced, I am all for whatever makes a rider comfortable as it typically allows a better stage to learn...
  18. Actually, we use the Dunlop Q2s on the RC8s for the Race Orange Program and I am here to tell you that the tire is freakin amazing. It is a dual compound and the handling is great. The front is great and provides a ton of feel and even though you can tuck it on occasion, it holds up amazingly well. I think I can run damn near the same pace on the Q2 as the Dunlop Spec tire. A little slower, but not by much... And, if you do a lot of Mid-Ohio, I can say with confidence, that it is a great tire for that track. Nelson should be similar as there is great grip at Nelson and the tire should maintain well... Of course, the Michelins are really good also. But, I have thousands of laps on Dunlop Q2s and feel they are really good.
  19. I think it is totally fine if you read my posts. I was using that as an example of judging him as he judges everyone with a lifted truck... I think there is a place for it, but as mentioned, if you have ABS and ride off road, you need to be able to turn it off as having it on will end you up on your ear. There are a lot of guys that will argue one way or another on ABS. Yes, it may be mandatory and it may be on everything nowadays, but the tracking the car example, serious track day drivers will turn off the ABS as on the track with production based cars, it is slower with it engaged vs off... Anyways, I was slamming him like he slams the truck guys... Just an example to judge blindly. I don't know the guy. Don't care. Just was doing what he was to prove a point...
  20. Hey dude that seems to really like to talk about men's junk... I was talking about YOU. The ABS on your DRZ or whatever it is called. ABS is a crutch. Know what my ABS is? My left two fingers... I was taking what you like to say about people and turning it on you. Now, who needs a chalk board with stick figures to sort things out? Plus, if you are trying to turn this into something it isn't and using someone's handicap, you are a complete douche. Also, if you actually did travel to that few of states and don't do much off roading or fire road riding with your type of bike, what's that make you? And don't tell us that you do serious off roading with a bike that has ABS... You're a dude with some serious issues to try and paint the idea I was talking about someone like you did. Pure bullshit and shows your true colors... You're an a-hole, dude. That was really low. I don't usually drop to name calling, but that was really a wrong and terrible thing to insinuate. I'm done here. Total bullshit.
  21. suburban with no lift? Your wiener is too big to be our club. Nice try, Gigantor...
  22. No worries, dude! I used the ABS example as a way to say that maybe we think he isn't as good a rider as others due to having the need of such add-ons to bikes. BUT, ABS has it's place and is a great thing for certain situations. Unless he goes off road of course, but as you mentioned about the map, not sure. Very tasteful and a great example of what I was trying to get at that people can do whatever they want and we shouldn't judge (too harshly) as to their character makeup or physical traits simply due to what they bought...
