OK, some pics of the dually I'd like to trade for. I was going to sell this to a good friend for $10k and would use that as the measuring stick for a trade. $10k is a really great deal on this rig... The stats on the truck are as follows: -1999.5 Powerstroke 7.3 - Yes, a HUGE difference in trucks between 99 and 99.5. Rotors, airbox, etc... -Dually 4x4 Crew Cab with 8' bed. -Custom graphics PAINTED on. Not a single decal used. Painted by TOAD Designs who paint custom cigarette style boats. Actually paints for Cigarette specifically... -Larger/high performance turbo housing -High performance turbo impeller. -Silicone hoses on intercooler lines. -Crankcase breather mod. Makes the truck smell a bit, but is better overall for the truck. -5" turbo back exhaust. -Automatic (Larger towing limits due to torque converter) -KMC Rockstar wheels. -A-Pillar gauges. -Husky molded mudflaps. -172k miles. That breaks down to under 14k a year. Truck does not have a 5th wheel so, you know it hasn't been tortured. I have only pulled a 20' enclosed race trailer as the heaviest pulling it has done. Currently, have a 17' trailer we run that gets pulled. Needs tires, but that's it. There's the typical rust that these Powerstrokes get - inside under the front doors. This is not near as bad as most I have seen. The tailgate inside lower area. Typical amounts. Looks like shit when you drop the tailgate, but isn't anything out of the ordinary... Does have some wear where I had a fiberglass cover. Wrapped around the top rails and the top of the tailgate. Rubbed the tailgate... Not bad and has been off for over 5 years... I also have a set of front springs to bolt on and level the front. Never got to it, but they are new and will go with the truck. I am still looking. Not hard, but still looking. Shoot me a PM as to year, miles, etc. and some pics. I'll post some of my truck also.

Yup. Figured it would cause people to look thinking good or bad and "think" about it. I think it sucks. But, what do I know?

There should not be just one "day" for veterans. Instead of today taking the time to thank a vet, if you see a vet on ANY day, thank them. No offense to breast awareness and black history, but they get months where there is remembrance and recognition. Vets should AT MINIMUM, have a Veteran's Month. Thank you on on this recognized day that serve us and allow us to do what we do and have the freedoms we have here in the US. As a racer, father and one that enjoys what he is allowed to do, it wouldn't be possible w/o the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. I thank you all. But, you deserve more than a freakin day...

This is like the guys that think they wear out their tires when riding the freeway and why they ride back roads... Tire wear? Unless you are hauling every day and for thousands of miles, you're not going to have issues. Worried? Trailer day 1 on the left, day 2 on the right, day 3 on the left again, repeat, repeat... I have a cargo trailer that typically runs just one bike on the right side and no bike on the left. Guess what? Tires are fine... As for towing, it isn't going to flip, isn't going to pull off center and it isn't going to tug you to one side of the road vs another. The removable chock idea is stellar and should be done just because it would be easier to load it in the center vs climbing or moving around a wheel/fender. But, if you can't or have to make a lot of mods to do so, just strap it down and let 'er eat.

RC8 solely...

I get a ramp, put the bike in gear, walk it up from the left side and allow the bike to climb the ramp while guiding it up. I use an MX stand or heavy duty bucket to walk up and use as a step. Done it probably a thousand times with everything from an MX bike to a $20k Ducati...

I haven't seen your nuts, but what Nick says, they are big enough. Wait.... That came out wrong. Seriously, though. Thanks for the compliment. And, you'd be amazed at how easy it is to ride...

Honestly, I like the 07/08 motor a bit better. Seemed to be more of a harder hitting motor vs this generation. But this chassis is SOOOOOO much better. So much. Had some sorting to do as I was all over the place trying to figure things out, but at Putnam, it really clicked and showed why it is overall, better...

Like I said, not yet...

Bingo. Lightweight batteries are great for that "edge" when racing, but outside that, I can get several years on an OEM battery. Hell, most race guys aren't doing these in majority unless they are getting them for free...

I agree 100%. I've done it three ways. Bought new and converted. Tend to not do as many things as your budget gets hit big time at the start and you tend to drop some of the things that are just too costly and cut corners. Second way was to buy a salvage bike and build that. That was really good as we'd have a great starter and it was a great price and allowed us to put the right things on and do the right builds, etc. Back a few years ago, everyone was really doing this. The third is the way I have done it for a few years. Buy a reputable bike from a known top team. You then build it to the way YOU want it to be. I buy Vesrah built bikes because Tony does a KILLER job of setting the chassis up and Mark builds a great bike. BUT, there are some touches I add that are what i want in a build. I then only allow a reputable builder to touch the thing if not by my hands. That's Reuben... But, I agree. To build your own and doing several along the way allows you to gain knowledge and that's priceless.

I am doubting that it is a legit track day. The bike still has the lights on, no tape anywhere to be found and he isn't going very fast. So, may be in a group that is called a "street group" or similar. But, as Nick stated, we've seen HD riders on full bikes as such. But the best thing in all of this is the owner's quote: "I owned a sport bike and a RK for years, and found it very frustrating. When I was on the sport bike I found that it was just so much faster than I could think that it was frustrating." Bingo.

WAAAAAAAAY better choice for performance/comfort than the HD. I have a buddy with one of these and let me tell you, it can embarrass a few sportbike riders.

So, guys that think it is cheaper to build vs buying built haven't really added it up right or aren't being truthful on what they spend. My 1000 for example. I'd sell it for $12k with shit pile of spares. If you take the same route and start with a new 1000, you'd spend $11k alone for the bike. You'd be nowhere near my setup for $1k. Ok, guys will say buy used and slap on used parts. Cool. 2009 GSXR 1000 is going to be $8k. Used 30 mil and TTX Shock is going to set you back for $1500 min, plastic at $500, rearsets $200, Yosh EM Pro $750 or PC with everything $500, to exhaust $750, spare wheels $500, and you're at $12,500 and that's no clipons, levers, race pads, sprockets, chain, and for sure no full engine build. Bottom line? Buy built.

So far, I don't think there is a bluetooth option for GoPro yet...

I think the issue is that if he rides them and does well with them, he wants to race them. The bikes you listed, while cool, are not good choices for racing... I would say there is a lot to be thought of good ideas in this thread, but still contest that for price, go with an EX and then decide. Or, do an SV and grow into it, develop as a rider and start hauling...

2 stroke thumper is a contradiction... 4 strokes are considered thumpers... On the note of fuels, why does it need such special fuel? Let us know what you have and we'd be better to answer... My opinion is that if it is a race built motor, you probably could stand to use something like VP C12 and mix with a QUALITY 2 stroke oil. There is a shit pile out there and we at KTM, use the Motorex 2 stroke oil and we probably put over 60 HARD hours on our 2 strokes and allow Joe Public to ride them in those hours. They come back looking great and (knock on wood), no engine failures... Now, they are not race built and have anything special, really. However, what the newest technology incorporates, is probably what some older "race" builds incorporate. I'd say it lies in a quality fuel and quality oil, but stay away from Dr. Frankenstein and mixing exotic chemicals into the fuel. Today's race fuels are really good and mostly used by top race teams and can be proven to have exactly what you need w/o having to mix in extra stuff that will really do you no benefit...

No offense, but unless you are a hard core racer, there are a TON of better upgrades to do to your bike than a lighter battery. The charge time is cool, the starting idea is cool, too. But, when it is all said and done, you probably aren't a common winter rider and you hopefully are maintaining your battery well enough to not worry about charge issues... I think batteries are going to start moving to Lithium in stock bikes soon, but until then, that money is easily better used on something that is going to net a better result...

Oh, and if you have an iPhone, it has a great app that allows you to use the Bluetooth option (I purchased) that allows you to use the iPhone to aim the camera and see where it is pointing to make sure you have the best or desired angle. That was why I chose it over the GoPro mostly...

I have the Contour and honestly, it is a great camera. The issue I have is the mount system. It isn't as good as the GoPro has and the camera tends to bounce a lot. They have some decent things to prevent such vibrations and bounces, but unless on your head/helmet, it is bouncey on the bike. I am not a fan of cameras for superstitious reasons and would be willing to sell the Contour I have if interested. It is the HD with GPS... But, I am going to go GoPro Hero 2, I think and see how it does. Everything I have seen on GoPro on boards tell me they bounce also, but seemingly, not as much. I did cure the bounce thing by using some blue tape over the slots the camera mounts. It made it much more steady and clear. The quality is amazing and would say at least on par with the GoPro prior to this Hero 2 as I haven't tried it... Also, the Contour doesn't look like a cinder block strapped to your bike or helmet...

Won't make it down, but will fire up the Zook at 10:30 to participate. SUPER SIC!! -
The only chick that races Nelson shouldn't be the source of your investigating the bikes. They are not prone to blowing up... Understand that the 750 is a bike that Suzuki has had continued success with to the point that they have still maintained building the bike even after the death of the class. She's a moron if she thinks otherwise...

Yi=ou are right, but the blanket statement isn't accurate and what I was contradicting. Basically, current crop 600s are more than what most riders can really handle if not well experienced...
