  1. Thanks, everyone. Bought a new Stihl Farm Boss from Wheelsports. SUPER great deal and a bunch of extras. Mods can delete...
  2. I represent MS poorly? Are you kidding me? I've said nothing but good about them and the amount of pure fun I have had this season while running with them. I've promoted them ABOVE NESBA due to a few factors. You and Red are twisting this shit around so much it is causing me to belly laugh. I really don't care. Bottom line is that I've said it how many different times that ANY track day org is better than street. They all are good. They all have positives and negatives. But, you guys coming on here and saying BS like fast is an element of being a great coach and that NESBA is a ton cheaper is insane. Then, to turn this into a deal where you try and show I am acting poorly in regards to promoting MS. Jesus. Can't win with you guys. Red runs casual events and is a known NESBA lover. I have no idea over your deal and really could care less. If Sammy has helped you, apparently, you race. Dunno. In the end, I will let everyone here continue on. I'm out. You're right - I couldn't sit back and not say one more thing. I like how you provoked it with your comment, but hey... I'm the bad guy here so, it'll surely be my fault. OP? Do what you feel is best. Ever need any help, give me a shout.
  3. A troll??? Really? OK... Have a great time. I am sure you are a super hero at the track. Well, at least behind the keyboard. Troll. That's a good one.
  4. I stand corrected. You're such a dick at times... How's this... He went faster than everyone other than Sam. You want to get into a technical BS back and forth? Neyra, Wrobel and myself were on Moto 2 take offs from Dunlop. We were all "experimenting" with them to see how they worked. We used them for 3-4 races each and never put on anything fresh. Neyra's times were end of the day and on their 2nd runs on his 1000. They were spinning a ton. Sam runs fresh tires and race fuel. Sammy is a bad ass Mother F'er for sure and a great friend. BUT, to discount what Justin did is crazy. Sammy can go faster if pushed for sure. He's proven that - especially at Beaver. My point was that Moto Series isn't a pussy club and is getting better and faster riders - both expert and novice. Again, the fact that WERA regionals are taking a HUGE hit is evident. Guys are coming over to MS and having a great time. They are great peeps...
  5. You didn't say it was all about the lap times, but you did bring it up as if it was a measuring stick. Yes, Brad rides well enough at Beaver, but again... Not many can run into 57s. Brad runs a mid to high 58s which is baller fast and really cool. BUT, it means jack when it comes to instructing... I know Jeff and Justin are there and will help people. I also know that Jeff will work a lot one on one with riders if they want it. The point is real simple to end the bickering. You and Fitz are big promoters of NESBA and that's fine. BUT, there are a lot of guys on here that support and promote Moto Series. The thing is that it comes across as belittling Moto Series. The reality is that there are FAST guys running Moto Series. Fast guys and they are making the "regulars" faster also. We got Farmer faster than he's ever been at Nelson. We've got guys like Pinson, Kelly, Neyra, Wrobel and others that are pretty freakin fast and choosing MS over other orgs for several reasons and the top reason is to have fun and race competitively. NESBA is great. It really is. Again, it all seems to get lost and a few guys all of a sudden start to make me out to be an anti-NESBA guy. That's fine, but the way you guys are referring to MS, it comes across the same way. Let's be done with it and agree that track time is better than no track time.
  6. Talking out my ass? Really? You might wanna check some facts before you go talking all tough guy... No prejudice, but again... IF YOU READ WHAT I STATED - I said that we need to take a guy that is new and compare prices from both. Your prices are fine - if you do as many events as you did. That's cool and that's awesome, but the reality is that a majority of track day riders do NOT do as many as you do each year. The fact is that we are talking about two things here. One, this is a first time rider at a track day. Second, he doesn't get the discount as he hasn't done as many as you have. Thus, no hatred, no biased and no anything. Just facts. Classroom in my opinion no matter what org you run with - STT, Mid-Ohio, Moto Series, etc is a valuable thing to look for when first time out. I'm not an STT fanboy. I directed a few years and even help time to time, but in reality, I think what Moto Series is doing has some serious merit. They do the track days prior to race days and attract a LOT of people in doing so. I like the formula and I like where they are trying to go. Call that being a fan, I guess. Same could EASILY be said of a guy that does 12 plus events a year with the same org, no? You are right about anyone can get a discount. I never said otherwise. But, you aren't getting a non membership and 30% plus off as a first time rider...
  7. Then that's a silly thing as he then paid the regular prices and membership fees for those events... He gets a discount now, but actually, I think Todd would be open to a repeat customer thing and I know STT has a similar deal... Point is that we need to take an average customer like the OP and use him for both orgs and use that as a comparison. Not, "I know a buddy" or "I rode 12 plus events and my price is cheaper, but not going to tell anyone"...
  8. How are you getting that kind of discount and no membership fees? That's not typical...
  9. I want to also echo what Blue stated about NESBA. There are a TON of people that enjoy and will continue to go back to NESBA. That's cool. That's actually what I would expect as they are a quality company. HOWEVER, some of the things stated here are beyond silly. To think that a structured basic understanding of what to do on a track is not a good idea vs letting you run free and evaluate as you go seems like a hurdle and less productive. I am more along the lines of what Swantz and others do where they WANT to structure a classroom of knowledge to get the people info to try and think about. Then, implement those ideas and evaluate you as you use them. The idea is that MOST people that start at track days are street riders. Street riders have habits that are not smart to use on track. Those habits need to be adjusted and knowledge and teaching is a way to pass that along. Drills are used to take what was talked about and put them into action... As for Fitz... Well... I think he's a fanboy and not really open to fresh ideas. But, that's my $.02... As it stands, ANY track time is great and doing it with ANY organization is a great idea. It beats trying to get better on the street or similar. But, the facts we are discussing is price and what you get. The comments about Moto Series are funny. I've raced the last few rounds and while I used to think it was a great starter series ( i think it is still a great place to start), if ANYONE thinks that it is not competitive and not filled with some talented riders, you might want to reconsider...
  10. Wow... Really... You honestly believe that a good coach is a faster coach? That lap times are the way to recognize quality coaching. I'll let you know a pretty famous name in the MX industry that has a school that is regarded as one of the best available. It is run by the Milsaps and the head coaching person is none other than Momma Milsaps. She's never won an AMA National, never raced in an AMA MX or SX event and has never competed in any form of national level off road or similar. Yet, she is one of the best in the industry. Under your mentality, she'd absolutely suck at coaching. I also wouldn't be bragging as far as "fast" if they run 1:03s. That's fast and that is going great, but if they are being judged as to how great they are by their lap times only, you need to compare that to Jeff, Justin, Keith, etc. All are into the 58s and can do so at any time. I know none of the NESBA riders that have competed and done such a thing. Maybe a one off here and there or their so called "Quest" racers that show at times, but the reality is that majority of their coaches are just normal, average riders like anywhere else. I understand you have a hard on for NESBA and promote as much as you can, but the reality is simple. Lap times don't mean shit. Good coaching most often times is found from NON racers. Also, what was discussed before is still a basis of concern. If they go out for 30 minutes, get 15 minutes rest and back out again, that is too little rest and not near enough classroom knowledge. The customer needs to be looked at in a learning aspect not so much about how much time on track, but the quality of that track time. If I were an advanced rider and going to this thing? Sure. 45 minutes of every hour I am on track? AWESOME! But again, very unlikely most people can handle that stress. Thus, $280 is a big hit for what you are getting. But, if it is solely lap times you base who you want coaching you, call Moto Series and ask for Justin Neyra to help you. He went faster than any of the WERA guys did at their last event and easily would have been into 57s had we had better and new tires... But hey, if you want my suggestion, don't EVER let that be a sole basis of who teaches or instructs you. It's WAAAAAAY deeper than that.
  11. That's a refurb unit. I'd pay $80 more for a new one and free shipping. I saw that one for sure, but not sure on refurbs...
  12. While that is cool and all, I still think that the Moto Series is a better choice/value. The coach availability is high and there are ALWAYS some guys that can give a 1 on 1 coaching experience. Put it this way... If it is the first event you are doing, you are NOT going to get that much out of it in such a degree that it blows every other company's program away. For example, may have more 1 on 1 and more coaches to rider and more laps and time on track. BUT, a typical first timer is by no means going to be able to do 45 minutes per hour of solid track riding. I also don't think that the coaching is going to be Swantz or Champions School advanced. I believe that it would be more along the lines of basic knowledge - otherwise, again... first time rider will not absorb too much info as it is enough that they are out on track and taking all that in. Not saying the NESBA deal isn't worth it and certainly not saying it sucks. But, I think for the money to run Beaver, $125 for the instructional class with Moto Series is a better choice. 7 sessions (20 minutes each) and classroom. Think about that. You get 30 minutes, 15 minutes of rest and then back to track for NESBA. When do you get classroom? Moto Series running 20 minutes and approximately 10-15 minutes of classroom/instructional. Again, all up to the OP. But, at more than 1/2 the savings, I'd try something else. Of course, you missed the Moto Series track day, but you could do Nelson. Or, you could come to Mid-Ohio and run their program and get a better track, same classroom style idea and time. Or, do a Grattan STT, but that's a bit further for you and may not work out when you factor travel costs. All in all, a LOT of choices and whatever you choose, at least you are getting to the track! Good luck!!
  13. Looking for the 455 Rancher chainsaw made by Husqvarna. If anyone has a hook-up, just trying to save some cash. I think the retail is $399.99...
  14. Dude, that sucks. I know you've been traveling like a lunatic, but this sucks. Bike is awesome and I REEEEEEEALY miss my 05. My opinion is that they were one of the best bikes I ever rode. Flounder's is a great piece and was well maintained. Even if he is a bit of a sissy...
  15. You need to consider Moto Series as the prices they are offering and the coaching, it is a STEAL vs NESBA's rates. Wow... $280 for Beaver???
  16. I don't think it is inappropriate to discuss the situation. After all, it was a mistake by someone or a group of people that included a fellow enthusiast. It was avoidable, stupid and resulted in a loss of life that could have easily been prevented. I think discussing is a fine thing as long as we all respect the person that was killed and I think we are doing so. This type of thing happens all the time. If we treat it with kids gloves and keep hush, hush, how will things change? My hope is that this is a lesson and that the track NEVER allows karts and bikes to run together. I also think that big bikes and smaller bikes should be broken down into classes also to avoid such a difference in speed. I had a buddy run a kid over with his 450 that tucked the front and was traveling a lot slower than he was. It ended up fine, but imagine had he run over his neck, etc.? OYL was on our asses and people made a lot of shitty comments, but the end result was that there needed to be classes separated due to size and speed. No different than when they split up groups for track days...
  17. Well, I've not signed a thing the last few times I have gone for an open practice. They have hunted me down for the $15, though...
  18. While I agree on the parents to blame, if it is like any other open track day, they simply pay $15 and go on out. No waiver at all... Now, if daddy said it was cool and mommy finds out the info and decides the track should have had corner workers, flag stands, etc and DID NOT sign a waiver... Well, I think it is a done deal if someone takes it to court. The big thing is the track has got to have some type of insurance against this. However, I wouldn't be amazed to find out they do not. Someone is going to have to pay for funeral stuff and related. I am betting there's no insurance and it gets ugly. I also know that when we sign waivers, people still can sue...
  19. I suspect there will be a lawsuit over this. The issue is that it was told to not be allowed and someone got out there and it became a mixed group. That's going to be an issue and if I were a parent, I'd be pretty pissed they didn't red flag the session once they saw the two groups were out there and stopped it asap. The other issue is that too many people are on here saying it happens all the time. I've been down there NUMEROUS times and while we are all big bikes, we have NEVER been on track with the karts. Not once. I also think no corner workers on an open track day is a no-no. I bet the insurance is going to crush these guys over this...
  20. You guys did fine. JBot was a little sketchy on the flag. The first race, it didn't even make it sideways and he threw the green. No biggie, but just a SUGGESTION - maybe have him tap your back to go 1 minute. tap again to go sideways and ONLY when it is sideways, throw the flag. For the first time, it was actually pretty good. I only watch the flag as soon as I see the 1 board because if he throws it, it's go time! 1:00 was ok, I guess for the first time racing there and with the tires we were running. It just sucks that Justin and Jeff ran so much better. I was within 8 tenths to them in the first two races. That third one, I just sat in a comfort zone and didn't want to push. The rear stepped out a few laps where Keith spun out and I was mind fucked the rest of the way. It's funny - when I got up there for race #1, I saw you and actually laughed. I have an honest to goodness, awesome time with Moto Series. All you guys make me feel like when I first started racing and how fun everything was.
  21. They were running a lot slower in the rain they said. To be expected... But, they were in 59s all day until the last race when Justin clipped a low 58 chasing Jeff down. I had nothing and with zero confidence in the tires and little to no knowledge, I was happy to get home with a few decent finishes... But, that track is pretty damn good in the rain they said.
  22. RIP first of all. How sad to bury your child and miss all those possible years. I hope to never feel that in my life... That being said, the issue is that they allowed both to run together. We've never been there and ran with the karts together. One, the karts will run a faster lap time, but are low and wide. Bikes and karts take and use different lines. Maybe it is something they let the smaller bikes do... Dunno... There are TONS of elevation and drop offs. There are at least 3-4 areas where I can see they could have been hidden. Walk the track and you'd see that easily... The biggest issue is that this was avoidable. Why the parents allowed it, the track allowed it, the riders/drivers allowed it is beyond me. It actually has me pretty pissed right now. I am in the process of building my son's RM for tard use and if this EVER happens, we will pack up and go home. Doesn't make sense and doesn't fit. Godspeed to the little guy and God help the parents through this. It's a sad deal that didn't need to happen.
  23. Great to see so many OR folks at the races. Judging by the amount of people there, I think Moto Series had a stellar turn out. Plus, the racing is getting pretty damn good. Looking at times vs WERA, I actually think it has better competition... That's saying a lot for how hard Todd and the Moto Series staff are working and how great a show they put on. First time ever racing at Beaver and I think I will enjoy it more once I figure stuff out. We were all playing on Moto2 take offs and the compounds were pretty hard. But, in the end, Justin Neyra came through with a 58.2 which puts him in a small group of people close to 57s. I think if we had new tires, we would have seen him in 57s for sure. Jeff would have certainly got into the 58s easily also. Overall, a great and fun time as usual. I am VERY happy to have joined up with these guys and accepted Justin and Jeff's invite to race the series. It's been a blast and the people are great. See ya all hopefully at the season ending event at Nelson!
  24. I'm talking about the fuel line vs. Tygon. The clips are all stainless and so is the safety wire. No brainer there. If anyone is thinking fuel line, it is fine and good on them, but if you want it to look good and not shitty by end of the season, use Tygon. Fuel line will look like shit after a season of brake dust, cleaning with brake cleaner, debris and related. You can also use heat shrink stuff. Comes in black and from AutoZone or related and looks good. We use the Tygon for the simple reason it rubs the calipers and other areas where it is used. This rubbing can make marks on the calipers and areas after a season of use. Fuel line WILL WORK, but shrink wrap will tend to rub through... It all boils down to what you want the bike to look like after racing, track days, etc... Take a look at pics above and see what I mean...
  25. I think it is cool. Reminds me of race helmets and I think the boring BS that we typically see is due to change. Oregon's Saturday uniforms are freakin BALLER!!
