That's right folks, STT is back at the Beaver! We will be running the open practice prior to the WERA regional event there on Sept 2, 2011. This is an open practice format with a slight twist! We will have a Race Group for licensed and race participants for the Beaver Run regional WERA event. We will also include a group that is Intermediate and Advanced combined. Think Twilight. The requirement is that an Intermediate rider needs to have had completed a few different days so they are comfortable and safe when riding amongst Advanced level riders. If you just started and moved up from Novice group, it is probably not the best event to attend, but understand that each and every rider is different and your ability levels can be different and excel differently. We do not want to discourage anyone from coming, but just want to make sure you have at least had a few events under your belt. You can go to the website soon and register for this event at www.sportbiketracktime.com and get ready to ride the Beaver again with STT!! I am trying to gather some of our regional staff and most will know guys like Craig and others that are usual suspects on the forums. We want familiar faces and we have some really great staff members. We are also going to have some VERY credible race staff attending to assist anyone that is racing this event in the case you need some assistance with your racing or if you have never been to Beaver and need a great tow to show you some great lines. We want to be available in all aspects of this day and will be available to help the aspiring racer as well as aspiring Intermediate rider that wants to excel and climb the ladder to reach that point to start racing. Any questions, shout as I will be directing this event and can assist. Cheers!!

What about Alarm Force? I like the wireless idea as we are considering going full cell phone only...

What kind of maintenance & reliablity do these bikes...?
Moto-Brian replied to OhioBob's topic in Tech and Tips
OK, talking about a bunch of different bikes here... WR is a dependable and very reliable motor. Good amount of time on the valve adjustments and strong with little maintaining needed. Change the oil and keep fuel in it... CRFs have always had valve adjustment issues. Especially intake valves... Get hard to start? Adjust the valves. A lot... CRF is a bike that while awesome, has a lot more maintenance needed... XR450 is a bullet proof machine that needs little to nothing to keep running. However, they are turds. My feelings are to stay with the WR. Off Road bikes vs MX bikes for street use are a better choice as the internal gearing is different and can be better for street use. But, it all depends on what you want. True tard? Go with an MX platform... By the way, the 525 is dead. The new 500 FI is the way to go! -
The house we just bought has a security system, but think it is a bit outdated. Was looking at ADT and like the idea as I am gone a lot with work and being out in the country, it would be nice to have - peace of mind I guess... Anyone have a connection with such things? Anyone suggest something over ADT? They have some seriously competitive pricing and have a lot more options than the other guys seem to do and a low monthly payment. Discuss.

The GS is actually a bike that came that way. He did do a GSXR fork upgrade. Really cool graphics and job. Needs to X that exhaust and do some streamlining with the tail...
-
He'd get a code on the pump... The coolant issue is a problem and these bikes don't just drop level with no reason. It either is weeping through the water pump area or he has an issue. The oil turning milky is not always the case and on bikes, is not usually an indicator. He mentioned some REALLY high temps and running it as such and that can be a major issue. No codes and everything sounding the same as if it were fine is telling me it is not electrical. The sidestand switch will throw a code and trying to lock it out is fine, but it would still shoot a code.
-
I think you cook it. Empty coolant is not a good sign. Running it really hot is going to cause issues. Did you run it to the 185-ish mark and note the temps falling before climbing again like I mentioned? If not, the thermostat is done for. You might have popped a head gasket or something also... Call Reuben (35 Motorsports and sponsor on here) as he is the absolute most knowledgeable GSXR guy around (Was courted by Yosh and KWS) and can possibly help you via phone to diagnose. Taking it to him is best... 317-850-3884. Tell him I sent you.

First re-do was pulling up raccoon infested insulation and cleaning up raccoon shit. YUMMY!! I Just changed all locks and new garage door openers. Next up? Kitchen!
-
Front pad right up against the garage is breaking up and I'd like to replace. I also want to get a stone driveway put in off the one side to the back barn and future pole barn...

HAHAHA! I wish!! I actually took a pay cut to work for team orange! Just been saving, got a killer price and needs elbow grease. Looks great from afar, but again, not a dump, but needs TLC. I have a contractor looking at the painting and exterior wood repair and will be doing the kitchen on my own and having a contractor do drywall (LOTS of wood panels in bedroom, office and basement) and master bath update. Needs every square inch of carpet replaced - aka built in the late 60s - and will be doing a lot of tile and wood floor work on my own also. Nate- Doors are actually painted, but we are looking at fiberglass or composite doors that are wood stained and insulated.

Ok, so I am not leaving Ohio. Actually, not moving much beyond 20 minutes away, but thought since Dub had made such an emotional thread about moving, I'd try my hand. Epic fail... Anyways, we closed on a new to us home in the country. Has some acreage of woods that I am planning to cut an off road loop and MTB loop as well. Needs a pile of work. Well, not really a pile, but isn't a turn key, freshly built home we were wanting. This just had the charm and potential and we fell in love. Room for the youngins to run and play and enough area for a pole barn later. It's been a battle as the lady that owned it has been nothing short of impossible and VERY difficult for EVERYONE involved to deal with. Lots of hoops and lots of delays and yet she never seemed to care... In the end, we closed yesterday afternoon and are going to start moving in as early as today. Still need to sell our current home, but we are pretty excited. So, you all still gotta deal with me! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us

That was always the Eastern Division event. STT is going back the Friday before the WERA event so, I might get some laps at that time... Not sure if it will scare the shit out of me, but noted on T1...
-
MIGHT be there both Sat and Sun. I need to learn the track. Never been there so, hopefully Jeff and Justin can tow me around...
-
He's gonna tell ya he doesn't work on anything other than sportbikes, but tell him I sent you and that he really should consider this deal as he is a Traxxion dealer... Plus, he is always getting updates and is pretty tight with the fellows down there...
-
I'm in!! We know Andy will bitch out so, we can exclude him. Nick might play, but probably will get a hang nail at the last minute. Everyone else is a wussy so, it'll be just you and me!
-
Send em to Reuben at 35 Motorsports. He's an authorized Traxxion dealer anyways...
-
Actually, you can have anything fabricated to get what you desire... That being said, $1100 is cheap, man. Plus, with the Traxxion kit, it can be modified to work with other forks and can be used for a long time. Plus, you will NEVER ride beyond the kit so, once you buy it, you will be set forever...
-
Wow, you hang around you new dealer buddy and you get faster... Hmmm....
-
Also, people DID come to see JRP. If you are honest enough to really think about it, you would know that he had a longer line of people for his garage at most events than even Mladin did. What that tells me is that love or hate the guy, people wanted to see what he was going to do or what was around him. Sex sells, money attracts people, being in the spotlight good or bad is still the spotlight. The AMA was wrong on what they did and what Ludington (Not Edmunson) did was way off base also. Al is a hot head and as arrogant as anyone else.
-
Well, he made the show. You can make fun of him as much as you want and say whatever you want, but he made the grids and he raced the class. I always find it funny how people watch the back of the pack and think those guys are slow. Those "slow" guys would wax 3/4 of the club racers they compete against at the club level... Not always, but again, they aren't "slow"...

I would suggest trying to incorporate forks off a Warrior or similar that is a more modern fork to begin with and can be internally updated to be even better. Wallowing is not just pre-load. If it is under sprung, sure. However, having rebound and compression adjustment is something that sounds to be lacking. Racetech stuff is really entry level stuff and again, had you picked up something like a Warrior front end, an Ohlins 20mm or larger kit could have been installed giving that more aggressive/sportier ride as well as more adjustability. Sounds like you want it to be an aggressive handling bike which it was never designed for. However, they can be made to handle like anything else can, but sometimes, you need to ditch stuff and replace with items that make more sense.
