I've got the Cortech 21 liter magnetic and it holds all I need for the day at work and gym, plus warm & cold weather gloves, cell, the shoulder strap, rain cover and a balaclava. Cruisers really aren't all that much more comfortable for distance that sportbikes. The position locks you into place so you can't move around and puts all the weight on the butt so all the road bumps go right into the butt and lower spine. I'll take a sport on a long distance ride over a cruiser any day as long as I can set it up right, risers, different seat and maybe lowered pegs.

Most people go on about how the Civil War was about slavery or states rights or their own high and mighty ideal, but like most wars, really it was just about economics. Slavery just happened to be the way a lot of the more influential people in the southern states made money and they wanted to keep their money making machine. Groups on both sides put it through the spin cycle to make war more palateable for a larger demographic, because you need lots of warm bodies to carry the guns.

The FZ6,Ninja 650 & SV have been mentioned a couple of times, but they are good on distance rides. Look at a V-Strom 650, Versys 650, Bonneville, Ulysses too. Out of the bunch, I'm leaning to the V Strom, it's the do everything bike. It doesn't do any one thing great, but it does everything well.

A friends wife works at a nursing home, they sometimes put these boxing-like gloves on the Alzheimers residents so they don't hurt themselves. We tried to convince her to put them on some of the more functional ones and use the idea of getting real food from outside the home to get them to fight. You know, something like "Whoever wins gets this KFC Chicken fried steak".
