  1. Did you check your local parts store for a rebuilt one or new one? Im pretty sure there are only two companies in the US and Mexico that make alternators and they supply your local auto parts store with most makes and models. I would check your local parts store as its usually cheaper than having it rebuilt, if you can find someone to rebuild it. I believe one of our sponsors works at O'reilly's.
  2. To start you need to figure the distance you are gonna run the wire(from the board to where the outlet will be). That will give you the gauge of wire you are gonna need to run once you do the amperage to foot conversion. Find out what type of panel you have in your house and get a breaker(30-40amp depending on the amperage of what you will be running). You will also need to figure out what type of plug you will be running 3 or 4 wire or whatever plug you need to use. Of coarse you will have to get your misc electrical accessories( boxes, wire nuts, wire locks, breaker, conduit(on all brick wall), and recepticle.
  3. Ill take the jack stands. shoot me a PM with your info and when you want to meet up.
  4. I've not dealt with the LS series motors, just your older SBC's. Ive seen motors with spun bearings rebuilt before, it depended on the damage caused. I would take the motor out see what damage is done, at the worst you need another block. Did some quick reading and found that these motors are able to be rebuilt, it really depends on how long you ran it after you lost oil pressure and whether you sent part flying in the crankcase. If you turned it off when you lost oil pressure you should be able to get away with a crank, bearings, rings, having it magnafluxed, and line bore at a good machine shop. It all really depends on the condition of the block and the caps as they tend to crack in the saddle when overheated. Here's a site I found some information on: http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/0708ch_block_repair_basics/index.html
  5. Why can't you rebuild the one you have in the car? I understand spun bearing, if its just that you should be able to rebuild yours.
