  1. No problem with my rs7 having the 8speed auto.

It's a good transmission, really fast especially for a torque converter. I was going back and forth on whether I should trade in my A5 and lose the ZF8 for an S6 with the 7spd DCT. 8 speed is capable of holding more power and has an extra gear. At the end of the day, it was 4.0TT that beat 2.0T, and the DCT is pretty cool too.

  2. I have to say there is something I overwhelmingly like about this car and that it is a I6 sports car.

Yeah, nothing like a nice I6.

And exactly how many new manuals have you contributed to the cause with?

Ill run you on 270 btw. Why not.

And gotta love that new 15 year old technology :dumb:

I'm not the one bitching about progress. Nice manual, where'd you get it from, Charlton Heston's chariot?

  3. manuals  audi :cry

    manuals  audi :cry

America voted with their wallets, and they have for decades. Keep it up fatsos and soon it will be nothing but SUVs too (until gas prices go through the roof again lol). With that being said, as fun and awesome as manuals are, new transmission technology is superior to manuals, welcome to the future, bitches.

Cue Not Brian with a "cry about non-manuals started pack".

Which one of you wants to get dragged around 270 first by a DCT?

  4. I have a LinkedIn mostly to get spam emails from recruiters that tell me that they like my particular set of skills.

Just recently got rid of IG, been off FB for a few years now.

    Snapchat all day.

  5. No... just no... Call it a Lexus then. Auto Manufacturers have solved this same problem before I was born. Customers and the public assign an image or viewpoint on a subject based on that it calls to mind. Things come to mind when you think of Toyota are... Prius, Fuel saving, blue collar, 9-5, and Uncle Dave. These are just a small piece of things that I think about when I say the word "Toy-oh-tah"

This does not apply to the listed above manufacturers because that's the "current" or "1990s" look that any of these companies were going for. Lambo was known in the 90s for two things, #1 making sexy looking cars that every teenage boy put on their wall next to a bikini girl and #2 They were still unable to make money. Audi was making sports sedans, and Mclaren was designing what would become the world's fastest car... The F1... Toyota was known for making economy cars for your buddy ted who took only 1 semester of college, but STILL feels overqualified for his telephone tech support job.

It's the badge alone that is holding the 1990 Supra back, and for that reason... it's a "cool" car for sure... but no Supercar. :-(

Sorry, but none of this has anything to do with why a car is a supercar or not. Brand perception is a thing, which is why Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans got rebranded, but has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. Prius wasn't even a thought back in the 90s. Toyota already had a history of making capable sports cars at this point. Like I said, Lambos made the jump from tractors to supercars.

I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul :)

  6. It fits the definition of a Grand Touring car much better.

“A grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo) (GT) is a performance and luxury automobile capable of high speed and long-distance driving.[1] The most common format is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement.” - Wiki

This is the best argument so far as to why it's not a supercar. As discussed already, it's competition, the 3000GT, or as it was called elsewhere GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato), had it right there in the name.

Does a supercar need to be mid-engined?

Dodge Viper I would consider a supercar of it's time too. That car was on little boys bedroom walls just as much as any Lambo (somewhere in there is a Catholic priest joke). It was front engine. I'm sure there are other non-mid engined supercars.

If you look at the wikipedia page for Supercar it says "A supercar (also referred to as an exotic) is a luxury, high-performance sports car or grand tourer"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar

So even though a good argument, I don't think it holds.

(yeah i know wiki isn't exactly a gold standard).

I don't know how people can say because Toyota makes a Prius, it can't be a supercar. Well, then I guess neither are lambos cause they make SUVs and tractors. R8 can't be a supercar cause Audi makes many economy cars. McLaren, not a supercar cause they made a bicycle...you get my point.

  7. That's fair but it's also not a 6 figure car like a Lambo, Bugatti, Ferrari, etc. It's not built to that standard and those components are not the same in each, right? I'll be honest I've never studied EXACTLY what susp and tech and such the 3000GT had but AWD and active suspension in a Mitsubishi HAS to be diff than AWD and active suspension in a Lambo.

Well you have to compare it to the cars at the time. I'm going to say that just about any car had better build quality than a pre-Audi owned Lambo. Not sure what build quality was like on Bugatti before VW owned them. I don't think either one had AWD back then...I could be wrong.

    The 3000gt AWD system:

  8. I recently upgraded from a Samsung 3D LED to a Samsung QLED 4K with HDR.

I'm very particular on how I like to mount my TVs as flush against the wall as possible, so I use the Samsung picture frame style mounts. All my cables run through the wall behind the TV and it was exactly how I wanted it.

Well Samsung had the bright idea to come up with the "One Connect" box. Good idea in theory, you have one, very thin, wire-like cable connection from the TV to this box, where everything else plugs into. Problem is, wtf do you do with the box if you are going for a clean look?

Luckily the TV curves in a bit on the side, so there was room to stick the box against the wall with some double sided tape behind the TV.

Long story short, amazing looking TV with brilliant picture. I believe they make the best displays in the business. Not a big fan of the One Connect box though, but I'm sure it's fine if you have some kind of table or something below your TV.

  9. Very nice. Now we need pics of said car.

    2013 S6

    4.0 V8TT 420hp S-Tronic

Fully loaded with the exception of the Bang & Olufson stereo and the previous owner traded the car in with the standard 19s instead of the 20s that the window sticker had. Fucker.
