  1. It is that time of the year again. I pushed this last year and we had some guys come out and have a good time. This year Valkyrie Defense Group was planning on reserving a table or two so everyone that has trained with us or plans on attending a class can come meet us and some of the other guys that assist with us. Cost of tickets are $30 and that will include your meal. Date and time is April 11th doors open at 4:30. End time should be no later than 10:30. There will be lots of gun raffles, sage raffles, auctions, and all around good times with with like minded individuals. Any questions can ask them here or you can pm me and hit me up on Facebook as well. Thanks, hope to see you all there. Brian Scheetz

Before you run out and get that 42 send me a message Brian.
  3. I love it! Instructors are such jerks especially when backed by logic and reason. Haha! I have made my way back to the Glock as well. Main reason is I lost confidence in the Smith with the front post still walking. I have another edc in mind but I need to save a little before I gun out and buy it.
  4. I am a summer appendix carrier. And a part time in the winter.
  5. Been working on the Home Defense Concepts Course for a little while now. I'm liking the look of things so far.
  6. I haven't been on in awhile. Ingafe been working diligently on our new home defense course calls Home Defense Concepts. The guys who have taken the CAC class should know it will be just as informative and thought provoking. Other than that I moved and bought some property which will vw the new VDG headquarters. We are stacking dates up already so if any of you were planning on coming to a class next year get with me soon so we can line a date up.
  7. I hope to see you on the range next summer in a class with that gun.
  8. I had just your standard a2 stock for a long time. Cheap and effective. I switched to the PRS because of the need for adjustment.
  9. My experience with the PRS is the same as flounder. I have had great success with the stock.
  10. Last week we did an interview the Unnamed Trucker from The RoadGunner podcast and it was posted up today. We had a couple good laughs as expected. We had an opportunity to talk a little about ourselves and about the company and what 2015 holds for us. We are actively trying to fill our next year's calendar so if you have a dareiin mind you want us to block off let us know now. You can find the show here: http://roadgunnerpodcast.com/2014/12/05/valkyrie-defense-group/ Enjoy! (I will apologize now for being kinda out of it. A long day at work compiled with the beginnings of a head cold messed me up a little.)
  11. If it don't start with 4 it was made for women.....
  12. Wrapped up our last class of a non stop 2 month schedule. Taking a few weeks off and spending sometime with the families around the holidays. We will be ready to get back up and at it in a few weeks.
  13. If we had more time and I knew you guys wanted to see more of this we would have moved back to 15 yards. At that point there is going to be a shift in the application of the fundamentals on getting your hits. Finding that balance of speed and precision is more difficult from there on back. The target dictates the need for precision. Is there a situation where you could be 5 yards from the target and need the sights? Yes we realized that on number calls. If the target requires a precise hit we have to use the sights or if we are at an extreme distance and we have the combat effective high center chest present we still might need those sights to make the hit. It is all skill based and fully Dependant on the shooter. How do we figure it out? We train.
  14. Intuitive shooting is still controversial in some circles. Are you still seeing the sights? Kinda. I still see the silhouette of them in the lower peripheral of my vision. Back to the primal instinct will your mind allow you to look at anything other than the sights? No. Should you be prepared to if the target dictates a need for precision? Absolutely.
  15. Sorry if I came of as a dick. It is something that is debated and discussed all the time throughout the training community. Keep in mind also when learning from military and law enforcement they have a very specialized view on how they teach. Military have their spin and law enforcement have theirs as well. Armed citizens are very different than mil and Leo. Armed citizen walks through life waiting for the ambush moment. Leo and mil have missions to perform and most teach from those angles. Are there good ones who have learned to adapt to the difference? Absolutely. But we have had state patrol attend our CAC class and have said it relates totally to every situation he has been in. I'm not trying to preach. I am just trying to offer that alternative way of thinking and a different view point because it is often drowned out by all the high speed stuff on the internet.
  16. If Ohio changes it requirements pertaining to the chl I hope people are responsible enough to seek out proper instruction. Just like Saturday, I think it was the first time anyone had ever thought about after the shoot. Training for violence is fun, it is flashy. I like to tell people that training for the events that lead up to violence and the events after violence are almost more important than the violence itself. We carry a gun to protect oue lives, we know the laws to protect our way of life.
  17. Thinking someone has had to be in live fire fights to be able to appropriately teach is a huge misconception. Don't fall into that trap. I personally know an officer that instructs and has been in 3 gun fights. He had an extremely hard time teaching to ICE standards. The misconception of needing to have been there and done that in order to be a great teacher or instructor really gets at me. Not just because I am a "civilian" instructor but because people dont think past the "been there dont that aspect". This goes for anything not just firearms, ask Kerri Strug who was coached to a gold medal in Olympic gymnastics by a boxing coach. Some people have a gift to teach and in all my experiences and training the list of top 3 instructors I have trained with have zero first hand gun fight experience. Ask the gents above if they feel any of the knowledge that spewed out of my mouth over the weekend is any less valuable or holds any less weight knowing I never had to shoot at anyone. I won't even answer for them, I encourage them to chime in.
