  1. We dump the bags i nthe room and head down the street to our all time favorite restaurant for some chow. I had the enchiladas slatered with green and red chiles... While the wife had the stuffed poblano with red and green chiles... Had to have a few cold ones to put the fire out...
  2. It was dark when we arrived at the Santa Fe Hilton - our home for the next few days. Nice tray of chow awaited our arrival....
  3. This confirms it; we're definitely not going this route next summer! It starts to get a little better as we crossed into New Mexico. Mesas start to pop up and the hills begins to roll....
  4. Had some vacation time to kill so I saddled up the entire family,(that'd be me and the wife) and headed West. Crossing Texas is never fun...... Cadillac Ranch outside of Amarillo. Just plain weird....
  5. As they should be, set up ain;t gonna help if you ride won't roll !
  6. I have a tag on my helmet, a waterproofed paper of info inside my helmet liner and wear a 2 mb jump drive on a chain around my neck on long trips. Drive has a Word document in it with all of my contact info on it.
  7. Testify, Brother! You'll also have fewer "oh shit!" moments on a bike that is well set up. It won't pogo you into the weeds if you hit a corner a bit faster than you normally do.
  8. Reuben is the man for race take off tires, too. I've been using his tars for about 10 years - helps you go faster and ride better. Dude has a shitload of them too - like a mountain of tires. And for the love of God, get your bike properly set up; whether you ride track or street - makes all the difference when it's done properly. It's relatively cheap and makes a huuuuge difference in the way your bike handles. My Duc's are set up perfectly and he even did the suspension set up on my ST1100 which allows me to ride quickly with no wallow - that's saying something on a pig bike like my ST! Rub has done all of my bikes - none of which are fast - but the good handling makes up for the low power and allows me to ride quicker.
  9. I gotcha - even better for me. Leave Thusrday after work and come home on Monday evening kinda thing? That'd give us Friday, Sat and Sun in New Yawwwk. Others that have more time could leave a day earlier and come back a day or more later.
  10. As in 2-3 days or can you go longer? Ideally for me, leaving on a Friday and getting back on the following Thursday or so would be best. But I can go shorter as well.
  11. June-ish as in anytime - I have no time table set yet. Could go into July, too. I'd just like to take a longer trip prior to the Colorado trip in September and June sounded good.
  12. We don't all have to ride together in a line like a bunch of Harley riders, just have daily check points - hotel locations - to meet at each night. The route to the first night's hotel will be "I-70 West, Exit #11, in Missouri" and the second night's hotel is "I-70 West, Exit #112 in Colorado" so it'll be really easy to meet up each night. I normally ride in the mid 90's in the daytime and a few MPH less at night. Certainly don't expect everyone to do the same - ride at a pace you're comforatble with and we'll all have a great time.
  13. I can go anytime at all - it's others that have time constraints. Don't need to firm up the htoels until about a month before the departure date. This won't be the high tourist season, so we should be able to get in anywhere we want to go. Santa Fe will be the only one that'll be tough at all.
  14. Still working on some routes, but I have a basic idea figured out. Will post up some maps after I make them. Mighht have to ride in Vermont for a day - one of the few states I've not yet ridden in and it'd be a shame not to add it to the list.
  15. Another ride I'd like to do this summer is an upstate New York trip, most likely in June. Just posting here to see if anyone else would like to come along. Most likely a week long venture to see Boldt Castle ( http://www.boldtcastle.com/ ) Ride around the Finger Lake Region ( http://www.fingerlakes.org/ ) and then on to the Adirondacks ( http://visitadirondacks.com/ ). It's around 350 miles or so from Columbus to get there, so it's done in an easy day on just about any type of bike.
  16. Delete all of the New York talk here and I'll start a new thread about it...
  17. A week at the most, more likely 5 days or so. Figure it'll take a long assed day just to get there and a day to get back. Would like to have 2-3 days in NY, too.
  18. I'd love to go, but I'm in Chicago tonight. Udderwise,I'd be there. Cool vid - neversaw it before. Had Dave Grohl, Jack Black, dude from Queens of the Stone Age in it. Blonde was hot, too!
  19. No pun intended, eh? These tires are schweet! I've been using them for like 10 years and have never had an issue with tires at all. Allows you to get away with stuff that would normally have you on your ass.
  20. Hey Matt - I have a Honda ST1100 and do a boatload of sport tours every summer. You're more than welcome to come along! This is the only one planned so far, but there will be more: http://www.ohio-riders.net/showthread.php?t=17614 Eric
  21. Hey Cheeze! We have a few trips planned for next summer and you're welcome to come along on any of them.
  22. And it's only 9 months away! I'm heading to Santa Fe in 10 days and will post pictures from there as I take'em. Can't wait for that trip. Also, if anyone wants to head out that way earlier - say June-ish - let me know. I have 6 weeks of vacation to burn and it looks like my trip to Italy ain't gonna happen this year. I also wouldn't mind doing the Finger Lakes Region of New York. So, I 'll have plenty of time to head west on a bike this summer. Just say when and I'm there!
  23. Watching the Colts spank the shit outta the Bengals and then doing my expenses that I haven't done in about 5 weeks.
  24. That's fuuny as shit. Where is that bridge? edit: nevermind - http://www.frankenfieldreunion.com/bridge.htm
