Yup - OU Inn is the only place in town. A short walk to Court Street plus they have a pretty decent swimming pool. The bar at the hotel kinda blows though.
There's also an Amerihost and a new Hampton Inn out on State Street by the Mall. Kind of a hike to walk to anything from out there. A few restaurants out that way as well -Applebee's and crap like that.
Someone (that'd be you, Ben) pick a date and we'll do an official Athens weekend for OhioRiders. I went to OU and know the area fairly well. Rode down there last year and had a great time. Can't wait to do it again!

Thanks Aaron. I realize the beam pattern isn't going to be all that great unless going with a projector - I'd just like some more and brighter light.
Might have to get a Xenonexpert kit.
-
Know anyone that has used them? Or how well they work?
-
I hear October 31 is a great time to visit.
Yeah - no crowds at all.
We should do an Ohio Riders weekend ride in Athens this summer. Hangout at a hotel in town and drink all night on Court Street, Loads fo good roads down there.

We'll be meeting with you guys in KY on Thursday at 1p.
I'll try my best to be there at 1:00 PM - but as I have to wait on the Chicago guys to get here first, I have no real control over what time we leave.
It takes me right at 4 hours to get there and we plan to leave Indy at 9:00 (thus the 1:00 PM arrival time). If all goes well, we'll be there.
If not, there's a Taco Bell, McDonalds and a Gold Star Chili next to the Shell station at this exit. In the Shell there's a Wendy's. So hang tight, get some lunch and park your bikes where we can see'em and wait a bit for us.
I have your cell number still and will call if we're going to be very late.

Does anyone here have experience with HID retrofit kits on bikes? I need to do something to help the shitty headlight on my Ducati Sport 1000.
Any brands or kits that you can recommend? Pros? Cons?
-
Yeah, I know it's so far out there as to not mean a thing, but at least it doesn't say 43F and 100% chance of snow!
Weather for Knoxville next week attached....

Hola! I wanna head to Athens and ride this summer - anyone else wanna go?
-
Wish I had a choice - the ST Barcolounger is all I have for this trip. Won't be passing anyone anytime soon on it Hope you guys will wait on me!
-
The ST ain;t fast by any stretch, but I can haul all of the luggage for everyone else and it is comfy as shit.
Neither Ducati is ready to roll yet. Might have the Sport 1000 done by then, but it's both too uncomfortable and unreliable to ride that far. Same for the 996.

Me - ST1100 (no laughing, please)
Brad - VFR800
Bill - R1
NOS - CBR600RR
Reclipse - R1
thrid guy I don't know - I dunno

How many guys are going with you?
Two from Indy (one is trailering down on Friday) and three from Chicago. Might be 1-2 more, but we can't count on them for sure.
-
So we're meeting Thursday at 1p? I thought we were going Friday the 25th?
We're heading down on Thursday, April 24th. But no problem at all if you don't get there until Friday afternoon. Sorry about any confusion - I porbably screwed up the dates somewhere in the thread.
Whatever, come for all of the days that you can!
edit: I posted on the opening page "April 25th " and I just edited it to the 24th.
On an April 3rd post, I said "April 24th" - so my fault, sorry about that. Gotta look at a calendar when I type shit!

I'm still up in the air about it right now. I'm 75% sure I'm going to be able to go.
Cool beans. Might wanna make a hotel reservation (you can always cancel it) at the Country Inn & Suites to make sure you have a place to stay. I'll have some floor space for you - if that's okay with you.

This ride is pretty much off - weather will really blow this weekend as it'll be both cold and wet. At least we tried.
It's been in the 80's in Tennessee recently, hopefully that kind of weather will hold out for the April 25th ride down there.

Seriously, the resort is for sale.
Quit being so damned cheap and spend some of your money! I need a free place to stay down there, buddy, pal, friend.
-
I won't 100% know whether or not he's going until a couple of days before we leave.
Speaking of leaving, are all of you planning on heading down sometime on Thursday, April 25th? I'm not sure what time I'll leave Indy yet - depends on when I get back into town from work.
-
Another friend of mine from Indy may go and he's going to use my trailer if he does. It'll have an empty space on it to assist with any "mishaps" should they occur.
-
Sounds like a good time and a good value. Thanks for the offer!
I'll be in the middle of a ride to California and won't be able to take you up on it. But will do so someday!

so how many people are going for sure....
i am seriously considering, and need to know if i need to take the weekend off from work.
thanks
There's about 4 going from ChicagoRiders.com, me and a friend from Indy and Satan - so that'd be 7 of us so far.
I think a guy from Chicago has a room with only him in it, so he needs a roomie. So does Satan - I think.
We should pick a place in Lexington, KY to meet up. There's a Gold Star Chili just off of I-75 at Man O' War Blvd. Also has gas and other food at the exit. Just need to set a time window, etc.

It's legal in the UK. It's cool, because even on a 2 lane road, you hear/see a bike coming up behind you, they're gonna pass you and most of the drivers move over to let them pass. It's just what you do.
I've ridden in the UK many times and it kinda freaks you out when it first happens.
Coming up on a car on a two lane road, the car will slide to the left and the oncoming cars will also slide over a bit. Makes a perfect lane up the middle.
If you have a minute, checkout his video we shot from the bikes last year, you'll see what I mean;
excellent example at the 3:07 mark.I think most states, Ohio included, don't specifically have laws against lane splitting, but they do have lane control laws that would earn you a ticket if you were to split.
Anyone here know a cop that they can ask?

Temperatures are in the 70's there next week - hope that holds out!

Gotta wait until school is out - usually all done by the first weekend in June.
I'd say late June or July would be best.
